After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 604: Chapter 608 Progress of the Case [4]

”Alright, then I’ll go practice the piano.” Luo Xiaoqian stepped out of the reception room and directly into his piano room.

Heading back to his office, Leng Zimo glanced at the closed door of the piano room, just about to press the intercom button, when the door was knocked on once again.

”Come in!”

He called out authoritatively, and this time, the person who entered was Zhuo Yannan.

”President Leng!” Zhuo Yannan walked straight up to him and presented a document in his hands.

Leng Zimo took the document from his hand, and upon seeing the words ”resignation report,” he loosened his fingers and placed the report on the desk, ”Why?”

”This time, as the person in charge of Luo Xiaoqian’s entire album, I bear an inescapable responsibility for what happened. I will compensate for the losses incurred by this press release, as per company policies.” Zhuo Yannan frowned, having not slept all night, his eyes bloodshot, ”Of course, I will continue my duties until a new employee takes over my responsibilities.”

”Is this a guilty conscience?” Leng Zimo asked indifferently.

”I...” Zhuo Yannan sighed, ”I know you won’t believe my explanation right now. I don’t want to say much. I believe the police will investigate and reveal the truth, proving my innocence.”

”Don’t you like working at Emperor View?” Leng Zimo asked.

Zhuo Yannan immediately replied, ”Of course not, it’s just...”

To be honest, Zhuo Yannan enjoyed working there, Emperor View’s working atmosphere, the collaborative partners, and the rewarding system that compensated hard work were all things he liked.

However, after such an incident, he could not shirk the blame, especially since it involved Luo Xiaoqian; he guessed that his boss would very much want to fire him.

It seemed better to resign proactively than to be fired.

”I refuse.” Leng Zimo interrupted him, ”I refuse your resignation.”

”President Leng?” Zhuo Yannan was somewhat puzzled by his response.

”If you truly believe in your innocence, you shouldn’t leave like this. Your evasion will only make others more suspicious of you,” Leng Zimo said, pushing the resignation report back to him.

”Do you... believe me?” Zhuo Yannan asked.

”I only believe in the truth!” Leng Zimo’s hands were crossed on the desk, as he straightened his back, ”If you are innocent, then stay and prove it to me!”

Zhuo Yannan’s gaze met his firmly.

A few seconds later, he picked up his resignation report from the desk.

”Fine, I will prove to you and everyone else, the mole isn’t me!”

Taking a step back, he bowed slightly to Leng Zimo, then Zhuo Yannan turned towards the door of the office.

Just as he was about to leave, holding the doorknob, he suddenly turned back.

”There’s something, I don’t know if it counts as a clue?”

Leng Zimo spread his palms open, ”Out with it.”

”The night when the recording was finished, we all went to eat at Golden Palace. Since I had drunk too much, I left early. That night, it was Director Xu who drove me home.” Zhuo Yannan observed Leng Zimo’s expression, ”Last night, I asked my wife what time I got home because I was too drunk to remember. Later, she told me it was half-past ten. My baby drinks milk at half-past ten every night, so she remembers very clearly; it was after giving the milk to our child that I was brought home. I don’t recall when I left Golden Palace, but it shouldn’t have been as late as ten, since Golden Palace is at most a half-hour’s drive from my home.”
