Chapter 1898: Chapter 119: Autumn Dew Like Pearls

”Professor, you’ve entered the wrong classroom!”

Li Meng, sitting in the front row, was the first to notice the figure entering the room. She immediately put down the ”Standard Spells” book that was making her head spin, stood up eagerly, and cluelessly reminded him, ”This is Astronomy Class 08-1!”

”You’ve got the wrong room!”

The stick figure behind the door followed the little witch and shouted, ”This is East Building 601; you don’t have a class here!”

Professor Li Qihuang tilted his head, glanced at the little figure behind the door, nodded slightly, and said gently in his usual soft voice, ”Ah, yes, I have not come to the wrong place.”

”But we have a Curse Course right now!”

The little witch looked confused and even doubted herself as she flipped through her class schedule. After repeatedly confirming, she looked up again, reaffirming, ”...it’s Old Yao’s Curse Course!”

Jiang Yu grabbed Li Meng’s robe and pulled her back to her seat, while apologetically smiling at the professor at the door.

The Potion Class Professor did not directly answer the little witch’s question but instead looked around and asked, ”Does anyone know what day it is today?”

”Monday!”

”September 7th!”

”Lunar July 17th...”

”Day of Yimao!”

”White Dew!”

The classroom filled with scattered responses, and Professor Li raised his hand, gently pressing down, indicating everyone to quiet down, before nodding and saying:

”That’s right, today is White Dew. As the ancients said, ’Before night the green mist arrives, early autumn the white dew gathers.’ At this season, before nightfall, thin green mist pervades the air, and beads of dew gather on the grassy mountainsides. As the saying goes, ’Autumn dew like a pearl, autumn moon like jade, bright moon white dew, time flows back and forth.’ This corresponds with the master’s words ’The passing is like this, giving no day or night...’ ”

Atop the platform, the professor was speaking enthusiastically.

The students below were listening, utterly confused.

Finally, it was Li Meng again who raised her short arm, bravely interrupting the Potion Class Professor’s enthusiasm: ”So, professor, what does this have to do with you coming to the wrong classroom?”

Even Zheng Qing couldn’t help but give a thumbs up to the little witch under the table.

Professor Li was slightly taken aback, seemingly surprised that, even after explaining so clearly, someone still did not understand. He sighed with a hint of disappointment: ”White Dew is a very precious day, especially for making potions... Do you all remember last year’s Dragon Boat Festival? It was almost a similar day; the Dragon Boat Festival has Noon Water, and White Dew has White Dew Pearl, White Dew Frost, and so on. These are all worth collecting... So, I specially communicated with Professor Yao to swap a class with him. His Curse Course is moved to Thursday morning, and we will have Potion Class now.”

”No! I haven’t finished my Potion Class homework yet! I clearly had three more days!”

”Ah... Wasn’t Old Yao supposed to answer our questions? I can’t believe I did all that prep for nothing!”

”So, this means I have to keep those ’taboo’ solutions in my head for another four days? Oh heavens, Merlin, how can this world be this cruel...”

Below the platform, there was a chaotic moan of complaints, yet on the contrary, some were extremely delighted:

”Wonderful! Three more days to finish my homework! I told you yesterday’s line drawing showed my fortune is so strong recently, how could I have bad luck just because I didn’t finish my homework?”

Zheng Qing did some quick calculations. Last year’s White Dew coincided with the end of the first week of the school year and was a weekend, no wonder he didn’t remember any class swapping by the Potion Class professor last year.

Wait a minute, speaking of potions.

Halfway through his calculation, the young publicly-funded student suddenly recalled that on the morning of White Dew last year, Xiao Xiao gave him a hangover cure with a base made from virgin’s urine, which he tricked Zheng Qing into drinking in one gulp, which enraged Zheng Qing enough to give Watermelon Head Warlock two black eyes.

Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but grind his teeth as he glanced once more at Doctor Xiao’s empty seat, muttering to himself: ”Did that guy predict something... otherwise, how could he avoid misfortune so effectively.”

Professor Li smiled at the chaotic scene in the classroom but didn’t stop it, waiting until the students realized and quieted down awkwardly before he resumed speaking: ”For this class, I will take you to the Hundred Herb Gardens to collect ’White Dew.’”

Saying this, he looked at his pocket watch, nodded: ”There’s twenty minutes until class starts, so please put away your law books and ’Standard Potion,’ and bring your eyes, ears, and hands... Do you remember the requirements for entering the Hundred Herb Gardens?”

”First, listen to the teacher’s instructions; second, don’t move around; third, listen to the teacher’s instructions and don’t move around!” The students responded in unison instantly, followed by a wave of laughter.

The professor chuckled, his gaze sweeping past several figures—including Li Meng and Xin Fat Man—and lightly emphasizing: ”Right, you must behave when you enter the garden, do not wander around. Especially because White Dew is a highly volatile and easily contaminated substance. I don’t want everyone’s efforts today to be in vain, and I certainly don’t want anyone collapsing in the garden again or unable to hold a bowl for a month.”

Xin Fat Man folded his arms, sitting at his desk, looked around ostentatiously, fearing that others might forget who the ’unable to hold a bowl for a month’ guy was.

On the contrary, Li Meng, who once fainted in the garden, looked unhappy, clearly disliking mentioning her embarrassing moment.

After briefly instructing a few precautions, Professor Li walked straight out of the classroom. The young wizards of Astronomy Class 08-1 whispered in threes and twos, following the professor out.

Zheng Qing took one last look at the empty seats of Xiao Xiao and Zhang Ji Xin.

”What about those two? Should we wait for a while, or send them a Flying Paper Crane?” He was somewhat indecisive, as ordinary paper cranes could take half a day finding people, and if the distance was a bit far or the location a bit hidden, the bell might ring for class and the two partners still hadn’t received the paper crane.

But waiting didn’t imply how long the wait would be either.

”Where did they go? Didn’t the doctor go to do morning exercises with you?” Xin Fat Man eyed Zheng Qing’s unfinished breakfast bag, pondering whether to grab a bun from inside.

”The doctor went to reserve seats at the library,” Zheng Qing readily handed over the bag to Fat Man: ”There are two meat buns left, I’m full, you can have them... As for Brother Xin, it’s most likely his brother called for him again.”

Fat Man took the buns, glancing at Zheng Qing in surprise, as if wondering at the young publicly-funded student’s generosity today. But then, seeing the warlock holding milk tea, sipping it leisurely with delight, he suddenly felt a great sense of malice, to the extent that the two greasy meat buns in the bag smelled no longer appetizing.

”Just send a Flying Paper Crane!”

The Fat Wizard grudgingly shoved the bun into his mouth—wasting food is shameful, and food can smooth away inner scars—mumbling, ”One’s Lei Zhe’s real brother and the other is nearly top-scoring in every subject, even if they’re late a bit or skip one or two classes, what would it matter?”

”Do you think everyone’s like you, having a probation on your record, not daring to skip a single class?”

Zheng Qing took a small sip of the milk tea, squinting, savoring the silky sweetness flowing across his tongue, pretending not to hear Fat Man’s intentionally provocative words.
