High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1885: Chapter 106: The Barbarian at the Door

Before starting his second year of life at First University, Zheng Qing never thought that life of magic could become so dull.

Monday, classes, assignments;

Tuesday, classes, assignments;

Wednesday, classes, assignments.

Thursday, Zheng Qing, oh Zheng Qing, magic life shouldn’t be like this, with beautiful fairies in the garden, charming Ninfus in the water, dazzling witches at the ball, and magical potions, bizarre magical creatures, mysterious and unfathomable magic... that’s the real magic life! Even if it’s taking some time to play with the cat, even Tuan Tuan ignores you!

Friday, classes, assignments.

The life of Jiuyou Academy students is just so simple and dull.

If there’s any hope in this dull life, it would certainly be the school hunting party held in October. The young wizard finally realized why the senior students went so wild and crazy during last year’s school hunting party.

In his shoes, after a month of high-pressure studying, he too would go crazy like that.

Of course, for now, the school hunting party is still very distant for them, so distant that the young hunters of the Absolution Hunting Team count down repeatedly with their fingers, making the calendar turn slowly through four or five pages.

On Saturday morning, when Zheng Qing woke up dragging his numb brain, his first reaction was that he finally didn’t have to attend classes today.

”I am going to lie on the Cat Fruit Tree for the whole day!” shouted the young cost student as he declared upon waking up.

But immediately, Xiao Xiao shattered his fantasy.

”No, you don’t have time.”

The diviner of the Absolution Hunting Team flipped through his notebook, and quickly said, ”You haven’t done the summer line drawing analysis assigned by Professor Yi after the divination class on Tuesday; after Thursday’s Magic Potion Class, Professor Li required every student to submit a unique potion they concocted before the next class... I remember you chose ’Baffi’s Brain Awakening Potion’ and you’re still missing an ingredient ’Ice Horn Musk’, you asked me to remind you to buy it on Saturday on the Pedestrian Street.”

”Speaking of the Pedestrian Street, there was trouble in the shop on Tuesday when a guest tried to touch the tail of Dangdang Ears and was accused of harassment. You need to make time to go to Beta Town Management Committee to get proof, proving that Dangdang Ears is your employee. At the time, you only cared about copying my magic script assignments and told me you’d handle it over the weekend.”

”Plus, on Wednesday morning, Poseidon looked for you, and you postponed it to the weekend. Seems like it’s something about tutoring... Did you hire a tutor for your little fox? To teach it how to groom itself?”

”Also, with the October hunting party coming up, if Absolution plans to participate, it’s time to start some recovery training... at least get familiar with the battle formations practiced last year.”

”Can you still live a life!” the young cost student wailed and collapsed onto the bed, refusing to get up.

But life has to go on.

After morning classes, without returning to the dormitory, Zheng Qing dragged Xiao Xiao straight to the library, intending to take advantage of the energy after the morning classes to catch up on assignments, and then during lunch to take time to the Pedestrian Street to help Dangdang Ears to get a work proof, and visit Wandering Bar afterward to see if he can buy some cheap Ice Horn Musk, and later secretly check on Poseidon at Greenhill Mansion on its homework for the week.

The idea was good, and the plan very detailed, the only problem being that the entire plan faced unforeseen issues from the first step of execution.

”Excuse me, which one of you is senior Zheng Qing?”

In front of the library, two hurriedly rushing warlocks were stopped by a friendly voice.

The one asking was a warlock with black hair and eyes, standing tall and handsome in a moon-white robe embroidered with mysterious runes in gold and silver thread, glowing faintly in the sunlight, showing expensive worth at a glance.

Not far behind him were two other tall warlocks, one with long hair and a horse face, and another with a round face and bald head, with sky-blue vests tightly outlining their prominent muscles.

Zheng Qing frowned.

From the first glance, he simply did not like this warlock stopping them.

It wasn’t the color of his robe, but partly because of the natural resistance among males when confronted with peers who overshadow them in stature and looks, and partly due to the fake smile on the warlock’s face and the undue question of asking who is Zheng Qing, even though his gaze was already fixed on him.

The young cost student’s eyes swept over the sleeves and collars of the three in front, without borders, and quite unfamiliar, indicating they must be freshmen who have just enrolled these days.

But why are freshmen looking for him?

”It’s me,” Zheng Qing suppressed his displeasure and revealed a fitting hint of suspicion: ”You are... is there a reason you’re looking for me?”

While asking, he quickly thought to himself, pondering whether he had stirred up any trouble recently. Considering that he attended classes and did assignments dutifully in the first week of school, it shouldn’t be his issue.

”Hello, I am Lin Yan, a cost student from the 09 class at Alpha Academy.”

The white-robed warlock gently raised his hand, as if to signal a handshake, but before Zheng Qing could respond, he withdrew his hand into his robe sleeve, with that fake smile remaining on his face: ”I heard senior formed a hunting team named Absolution? I really like the name.”

As the saying goes, one shouldn’t fight someone with a smiling face, even if it’s a fake smile, and shouldn’t break the rules.

”Thank you.”

Zheng Qing raised his half-extended hand and casually brushed his hair, remaining courteous while his mind suddenly clicked that this freshman might be interested in joining the Absolution Hunting Team?

This thought gave Zheng Qing a feeling of encountering a ’connoisseur’, delighting in the fact that without sending out invitations, freshmen came on their own, perfectly matching the saying—good wine needs no bush.

Unfortunately, his hunting team doesn’t plan to recruit new members this year.

With this in mind, the captain of the Absolution Hunting Team showed a reserved attitude, realizing his earlier demeanor might have been slightly harsh, turned his speech more gently:

”But I’m very sorry, our hunting team isn’t planning to recruit new members this year, so...”

The warlock spread his hands, revealing a helpless expression.

Lin Yan seemed a bit surprised.

”Recruiting new members?”

He displayed a peculiar expression: ”No no, senior might have misunderstood... I don’t intend to join someone else’s hunting team, I just find the name ’Absolution’ sounds nice and want to buy the team, senior, just name your price.”

With that, he shook his wide sleeves, the sound of jade coins clinking could be heard from within.

The smile on Zheng Qing’s face faded.

A sense of having stepped into dog poop without checking the date on the calendar crept on him.
