High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1853: Chapter 74: Clash

The sky was a dim yellow.

The atmosphere outside the mountain foothills was somewhat oppressive.

The ogre hunters formed a loose battle formation.

No, rather than a battle formation, it’s more like a cluster gathering around the two-headed ogre in a chaotic rush. There’s no concealed magic loop linking each other underfoot, nor is there a heartening magic aura wafting through the air—there are only their hearts beating forcefully in their chests, pumping out wave after wave of hot plasma.

A few hundred meters away from the camp, this loose ’battle formation’ began to slowly speed up.

Not far away, the dust from the explosion in the ogre camp had dissipated in the breeze, revealing a broken axle gate and the camp that was still peaceful and busy. Just compared to before, the ’ogres’ working around the tents were now like marionettes, with every move becoming stiff and disorderly, viewed from afar, resembling a frame-dropped scene.

Even the dullest ogre realized something was happening.

The ogre warriors dragged heavy wooden clubs, howling in a language no one could understand. They scratched their cheeks with dirty nails, smearing fresh blood on their foreheads.

”ORGE! ORGE!”

They clustered around the two-headed ogre leader, shouting loudly, with strides growing larger, heavy footsteps stamping on the soft grassland. Each step left deep imprints, intertwining footstep sounds dense like rain, just a dozen ogres but running with the grandeur of thousands of troops.

...

”Prepare the Chaos Spell!” The captain of the Absolution Hunting Team shouted.

”Chaos Spell ready.” The diviner holding the crystal ball immediately responded.

”Prepare the Soft Leg Curse!” The warlock confirmed again.

”Soft Leg Curse ready!” The two witches replied in unison.

”Prepare the Binding Spell!” Zheng Qing spoke for the third time, glancing down at the familiar spell formulas open before him in the law book, asking and answering himself: ”Binding Spell ready!”

At the same time, Xin Fat Man, whose skin had turned indigo and height had increased to nearly two meters, spoke in a buzzing voice: ”Blue Giant ready!”

Then it was the red-faced male wizard, snapping his fingers with crackling sounds: ”Main hunter ready!”

”Steady! Don’t rush!”

The captain of the Absolution Hunting Team looked around, making final preparations for the upcoming battle: ”They’re just a pack of lost dogs, we can handle them with a single round of spells!”

”Four hundred meters ready!” The diviner interrupted Zheng Qing’s awkward pep talk.

Zheng Qing turned to see the ogres ragingly charging in, opened his mouth, intending to utter something simpler and more potent, unexpectedly hearing Xiao Xiao’s reminder again: ”Three hundred meters ready!”

The young public cost student was somewhat annoyed and looked at those ogres again, realizing they were closer to the camp.

”Two hundred meters ready!”

The ogres’ ferocious faces were clearly visible now, the blood flowing on their foreheads, the sticky saliva splashing from their mouths and noses, black nails, scars crisscrossing their bodies, and bulging muscles, making Zheng Qing feel as though he had suddenly returned to the Black Prison battlefield.

”One hundred meters ready!” Xiao Xiao yelled, swiftly collecting the crystal ball before her, turning to Zheng Qing forcefully while holding up the already opened law book.

Zheng Qing trembled: ”Release the Chaos Spell!”

Xiao Xiao almost spoke simultaneously with Zheng Qing, forcefully slapped the law book in her hand, and shouted: ”The wolf prowls amid confusion, trailing its tail!”

A haze of gray spell light rose, spread like a tide towards the swarming ogres.

Instantly, the ogres’ previously loose formation became even more chaotic—some ogres stepped on their teammates’ feet, falling headlong to the ground; some ogres seemed to see something terrifying, dropped their club, retreated a step, blocking their teammates’ charge; and even others spun around in confusion, eventually rushing toward the opposite direction.

This was a perfect chaos spell, Zheng Qing evaluated inwardly, slightly discontent. Like biting into a small pebble while eating a bowl of fragrant rice.

Because the ogres’ formation was already in a semi-chaotic state, thus the chaos spell felt like embellishment rather than illuminating a dark room.

”Release the Soft Leg Curse!” Zheng Qing decisively waved again.

”I’m a Dark Yellow Horse!”

”I’m a Dark Gray Horse!”

Jiang Yu and Li Meng raised their law books together, casting out a dark yellow spell light, following closely behind the gray chaos spell. But this time, the young wizards’ spell didn’t take effect immediately.

”Aura of Fanatism!”

The two-headed ogre growled lowly, arms crossed over chest, forcefully pounding forward, not against the air but seemingly striking a huge leather drum, heavy and resounding, numbing people’s bones.

The tide-like gray spell light shattered amidst the air’s tremors, transforming into starry gray gleams; the freshly emerged Soft Leg Curse’s dark yellow spell light hit the fanatically infused ogres, as though clear springs scouring thick leather, easily slipping past them, not slackening their sinews and bones but ironically stimulating them into a rage akin to bulls provoked by red cloth.

Seeing this scene, Zheng Qing immediately abandoned the previously prepared ’Ge Zhitianxi’, choosing a more powerful binding spell:

”In the south grows crooked wood, intertwined by Ge Li!”

The ground cracked open, sprouting twisted gray trees, their branches entwined, forming a simple yet troublesome wooden barrier. Upon these trees, vines and creepers stretched, akin to giant green serpents, subtly aggressive, lunging at the charging ogres.

Leading the two-headed ogre seemed oblivious to the green serpents, directly raising the hefty club in its hand, roaring ’ORGE’ as dark red blood flames surged around it, charging into the barrier of crooked wood and vines.

Sizzle!!

Pale blue smoke suddenly spread out, engulfing everything outside the axle gate. A rich burnt stench filled the air, mixed with explosive sounds of scorched vegetation, the ogre warriors’ howls, the earth’s tremors, leaving one unclear what happened in that mist.

”Captain?!” Blue Giant had already grown to over three meters tall, bending over, asking Zheng Qing whether it was time to strike with a thunderous voice.

”Wait a moment.”

Zheng Qing raised a hand to stop the anxious Zhang Ji Xin and Xin Fat Man, turning to Jiang Yu and Xiao Xiao: ”Release two more binding spells... not the usual ones, strong binding spells!”

The two team members obeyed, flipping through their law books, almost simultaneously reciting the spells:

”Interwoven by Ge Li!”

”Interwoven by Ge Li!”

More vines like giant serpents extended from the void, darting into the pale blue mist. The ogres’ howls grew louder but more chaotic, evidently in bad condition.

Zheng Qing finally waved and pressed the last reserve team forward.
