High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1884: Chapter 105: Numb with Exhaustion

Zheng Qing stared in shock at the transformation in the classroom.

He fully understood why Lecturer Black screamed—if he were racking his brains, thinking of various sweet nothings to woo a witch, and then that witch suddenly ’shrunk’ into a little kid, he’d be startled too.

Moreover, this ’little kid’ didn’t shrink proportionately.

If the witch had just shrunk entirely, like mistakenly taking a ’shrink potion’ or being hit by a ’shrinking spell,’ shrinking physically without aging, Lecturer Black might not have been shocked. He might even have laughed, or become even more eager to help with dispelling or recovery potion.

Unfortunately, the witch’s shrinking in the classroom was ’nonlinear’—like a frog turning into a tadpole, a butterfly into a caterpillar, a swan into an ugly duckling.

The witch in the classroom seemed to have been hit by a spell named Time Reversal, quickly transforming from a mature woman in her thirties to the youthful beauty of her twenties, then to the lively teens, all the way back to a seven or eight-year-old little girl.

Even Li Meng outside the classroom looked more ’mature’ than her.

Handsome Lecturer Black dropped the bouquet he was holding, as if stung by a jumping scorpion, jumped up from the ground, apologizing loudly to the frustrated little witch before backing away, stumbling out of the classroom, and ran off.

At First University, romance isn’t wrong, and even normal interactions between students and teachers receive many sincere blessings. But if the romantic interest is a seven or eight-year-old girl, Black could swear on the most valuable letters in his name, he’d surely be thrown into the most terrifying prison at Danghag with the scariest charge, perhaps even drowned by the wizard world’s spit before then.

Simply dreadful.

The male lecturer’s face was pale as a ghost as he passed by several young wizards, not even acknowledging their greetings.

Those young wizards who had greeted him rushed from the back door window to the front door. In the classroom, the forcedly shrunk witch was struggling to pull herself out of her long dress, while a few sprites holding instruments sat in the smashed rose bouquet, seemingly regaining composure, hesitating whether to continue singing.

”Damn it!”

The little witch tore at the web-like gown binding her hands and feet, swearing with no trace of her previous calmness: ”Couldn’t you come a bit later? No wonder people say ’beautiful dreams are always disrupted by a ruthless bladder, yet nightmares linger on...’”

”Ahem!” Jiang Yu coughed loudly, interrupting the little witch’s slightly vulgar words, while quickly stepping forward, draping a large robe over her.

Zheng Qing swore he only glimpsed the little witch’s bare shoulder.

In the classroom, upon hearing the warning cough, the little witch tilted her head and glanced at Jiang Yu, acting older than her years: ”What, girls nowadays can’t even mention bladder issues?”

Then, she noticed Zheng Qing’s dazed expression, and peered over Jiang Yu’s shoulder to greet Mr. Zha: ”Yo, Mr. Zha, long time no see... I heard you did well in the trials? Congratulations... Your nickname is really fitting!”

Zheng Qing felt no joy in encountering an acquaintance.

And felt a bit numb about someone suddenly calling him ’Mr. Zha’.

He was suddenly a bit tired, in every possible sense.

”Zhu Si?”

The warlock uttered the name in a tone that was both certain and uncertain, then looked around, his gaze wandering between Li Meng, Jiang Yu, and the little witch: ”Can someone tell me what exactly is going on?”

...

...

”So, you’re saying, due to unknown magical conditions triggered by factors like Dreamland, the Philosopher’s Stone, and Black Prison, Zhu Si is now in a very unstable state, occasionally switching body forms?”

”It’s truly astounding, perhaps that’s why magic is always so irresistibly fascinating.”

In Jiuyou Academy’s Book Mountain Library, Xin Fat Man was copying Xiao Xiao’s homework while muttering repeatedly about the ’incident’ that happened in the teaching building.

Zheng Qing sat diagonally across from him, looking at his Curse Course homework, his mind filled with the image of the Great Witch suddenly turning into the Little Witch.

He sighed deeply: ”Astonishing, my ass... as a campus journalist, shouldn’t you be considering how the school could be so reckless, letting her be a Dream Interpretation teacher?”

Xin Fat Man stopped his busy feather pen, looked up in surprise at the cost student across the table.

”That’s strange, isn’t your relationship with Zhu Si pretty good?” He clearly didn’t understand what Zheng Qing was worried about.

In fact, Zheng Qing himself couldn’t fathom his thoughts.

On one hand, he felt it’s a good thing Zhu Si could break free from Dreamland’s shadow and bravely start a new life. At least today, when encountering her, the warlock couldn’t see the loneliness that once surrounded the little witch, standing before her, he couldn’t feel any barrier separating her from this world.

On the other hand, Zheng Qing felt the little witch should be more ’free,’ preferably not staying in this school which brought her many bad memories. Although he didn’t quite understand magical psychology, he knew that lingering in the ’accident’ origin would do no good for a wizard. The most eerie ghost branches, vengeful spirits and Earth-bound spirits, are closely related to the ’first acquaintance location’.

”It’s not about whether the relationship is good or not.” Zheng Qing picked up his pen, trying to explain more clearly to Fat Wizard, but stammered for a while, his mind blank.

”Don’t tell me, I’m not interested right now.” Xin Fat Man waved his hand repeatedly, pointing to ”Standard Spells” on the table, full of resentment: ”Today, I must finish the homework... so I can spare some time on Saturday and Sunday for things I like!”

Then he turned to look around: ”Where’s the Doctor? Wasn’t he just sitting beside you?”

”Oh, probably went deeper into the library to find books.” Zheng Qing came to his senses and explained simply: ”He said with the semester just starting, the library has the most complete collection. He’s looking for all the books on this term’s reading list... Why are you looking for him?”

The fat wizard pushed the parchment paper toward Zheng Qing.

”Look,” he tapped the spell formula on the paper with his feather pen: ”Isn’t Doctor’s explanation of this ’Cry and avoid it’ a bit too simplistic... kind of incomprehensible, how does it jump from avoiding parents’ names to ’Big meritorious and small do not avoid’?”

Zheng Qing clicked his tongue, looking at the fat man with disdain.

Such is the plight of academic slackers, even copying homework is done haphazardly.
