High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1882: Chapter 103: The Recruitment Decision

The university is a testing ground for society.

Young wizards at the First University not only need to learn various magical knowledge, but also learn how to live independently, engage in social interactions, and even find the belief they fight for, among other things. In this way, when they step out of the school doors to face the sudden gusts and waves of the Great Thousand World, they won’t be caught off guard, unable to advance or retreat.

Therefore, club life plays a very important role in university life. This ancient wizard organization helps young wizards adapt to the ever-changing environment from multiple dimensions and brings together like-minded partners for these young wizards.

Accordingly, when these young wizards leave the First University, they often continue to maintain these strong relationships, generation after generation. This effective generational replacement establishes the foundation for many Super Hunting Teams - marked by the annual club recruitment.

At this time last year, Zheng Qing received his first invitation letter after entering university, inviting him to join the First University’s Symbol Seal Association. It was a relatively loose organization with a very tolerant atmosphere, reportedly having numerous ties with the Mage Alliance’s Symbol Seal Association, considered its youth organization.

Due to various reasons, Zheng Qing ultimately rejected this invitation letter and formed his own Knight Order and Hunting Team.

A year is both long and short.

In the blink of an eye, it was now his turn to send out invitation letters to the new school freshmen - Zheng Qing was not mentally prepared for this task at all, having a slight sense of bewilderment from suddenly growing up.

”Us?”

He pointed to his own nose, then gestured towards Xin Fat Man and Zhang Ji Xin, who were chatting nonsense beside him, and asked back: ”You mean we’re sending out invitation letters to newcomers?”

”If you’re serious about Absolution,” Xiao Xiao nodded slightly.

”Of course I’m serious.”

The young cost student muttered: ”We’ve established the team for so long; are you saying it’s still a joke... But do we really need to recruit newcomers? Our hunting team is enough with just a few of us. And who are we sending the invitation letters to? Is it troublesome to write invitation letters? Do we need to submit an application to the student union or student association to send out the invitation letters? It’s just the start of the semester...”

The Diviner of Absolution deeply glanced at him, causing Zheng Qing to feel a bit guilty, and his voice gradually lowered.

”Purging the old and nurturing the new is the key factor in maintaining organizational vitality.”

Doctor Xiao interrupted Zheng Qing’s rambling, raised a finger, and said seriously: ”A body that loses its ability for renewal only has a dead end.”

Zheng Qing felt a bit of a toothache.

While it’s not wrong, because it’s ’too correct,’ it sounds like sugarcane residue chewed countless times, without much flavor.

”It’s not that severe,” the leader of the Absolution Hunting Team raised his right hand, using his thumb and index finger to make a very short distance: ”We don’t need to be so active, nor dead... just maintain a little bit of vitality... isn’t it enough with just us few? And even if we send out invitations, will any freshmen want to join our mini club that’s just a couple of big and small cats, not even a year old?”

The Absolution Knight Order and Absolution Hunting Team were only just established on the eve of the university hunting party last year. To be precise, they have officially been around for less than a year.

”And we don’t provide meals! No living allowances either!” Xin Fat Man immediately raised his hand, adding: ”I heard the Blood Comrades organize outdoor activities every spring and autumn, and the club covers all the costs.”

”You’re a cat, but I’m not a cat!” Zhang Ji Xin also protested on the other side: ”Whether it’s a big cat or a small cat... If you were to say tiger, I might barely accept that.”

Zheng Qing hissed, tilted his head, trying to shake out the noise that had entered his ears.

”No, you’re underestimating Absolution, and you’re also underestimating yourself.”

Xiao Xiao paid no attention to the complaints of Fat Man and Zhang Ji Xin, but instead raised his index finger and pushed the glasses on the bridge of his nose: ”A cost student of Jiuyou Academy, re-elected for two terms; the recipient of the Great Arcana ’World’ title reviewed by ’Magic Wand’; the 2008 freshman hunting competition champion team; a hunting team that participated in the Black Prison Battle; a team with descendants of Black and O’Brien’s Moonlight Nobles; members from Zhongshan Jiang Family, Dragon Slayer Zhang family; and the youngest genius Alchemist from Alpha Academy...”

With each item listed, he raised a finger.

Before finishing listing these ’items,’ his hand was already wide open, then he retracted two fingers, seemingly about to make a fist again.

”Wow!”

Zheng Qing interrupted the doctor’s examples, looked around, and forced himself to endure discomfort as he praised: ”I never thought our hunting team was this incredible!”

Zhang Ji Xin also looked a bit uncomfortable, twisted his body on the stool, muttering: ”Can you use a different term... that Dragon Slayer thing, every time I hear it, it gives me the creeps.”

”Tianmen Zhang Family,” Doctor Xiao promptly corrected following advice.

”You forgot to mention the absolutely neutral Xiao Family,” Xin Fat Man clicked his tongue, suddenly revealing a particularly mischievous grin: ”...also, I dare bet, if we reveal Doctor’s pursuit of Mister Sima and Mister Zha’s multi-boat activities among the freshmen, we could surely attract a swarm of hornets.”

Zheng Qing decisively made a cut-off gesture: ”That’s that... I mean, not planning to recruit newcomers. Of course, if others in the hunting team have thoughts, we can discuss it further.”

Xiao Xiao shrugged, casually doodling a few more strokes in his notebook, then took out a crystal ball, casually ending the topic: ”You’re the captain, you have the final say.”

Ignoring the provocations from Fat Man as well.

The Fat Wizard, feeling slightly bored, fished out a piece of jerky from his watch and began his habitual gnawing.

Zheng Qing stood up, stretched, and casually swept a glance at the front row of the classroom. Jiang Yu seemed to be reprimanding Li Meng, who spewed nonsense during the exam, and hadn’t left yet, while the others had mostly dispersed.

The noise in the hallway had also quieted down quite a bit.

He suddenly recalled the incident in the testing ground and turned to look at the ’information source’ in the hunting team: ”By the way, do we have any information about the ogre we caught? Do we know where it came from?”

”Black hole,” Xin Fat Man rolled his eyes: ”Whether it’s the School Works Committee or the school’s testing laboratory, it’s all quiet. It’s as if we never caught an ogre with a nameplate embedded in its spine.”

”Perhaps the school already caught that Black Wizard, but didn’t make it public out of safety considerations,” Zhang Ji Xin cautiously added.

Since his fourth brother, Zhang Shuzhi, became the new Lei Zhe, the red-faced warlock’s awareness shot up a few levels, becoming particularly conservative on certain issues.
