High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1881: Chapter 102: Trivialities of the Opening Week

On the podium, Zhang Huaigu, who had been carefully observing this little commotion, also quietly breathed a sigh of relief—if those two audacious guys dared to continue chat, she might have had to throw two chalk heads like her teacher used to.

Under normal circumstances, it’s not allowed to glance around or even whisper to others like Liu Fei Fei during an exam, but as the top student and scholarship student of Jiuyou Academy, she could always receive some level of leniency on such harmless matters.

The Fu Lu class teacher naturally turned his head, pretending not to see this scene, instead, he sternly stared at the corner where Zheng Qing was located.

The fat guy sitting in front of Zheng Qing was quite restless, always twisting on his seat as if he wanted to cheat but didn’t dare to. Zhang Huaigu watched his little actions and subconsciously recalled her own appearance during exams long ago, with the corner of her mouth slightly curved, revealing a smile filled with memories.

...

...

Different from the teacher reminiscing about school days.

In the back left corner of the classroom, Xin Fat Man sitting in front of Zheng Qing was anxiously biting the long feather on the tail of his feather pen. The originally trimmed feather was twisted left and right, scattered and tattered, with some parts even exposing the naked milky white feather shaft.

Xin wasn’t deliberately tormenting the feather pen screaming in his hand.

He just wanted to glance at the answers on the test paper placed on the desk behind him—the ’complete’ talisman part of the test paper’s second section, he left about half of them blank. Those bizarre scribblings, who knows what relationship they have with the talismans in the textbook; also, the fourth section of the paper is completely from ”Standard Talismans · College Sophomore”, if he knew the answers, is there any need to sit in class?

The Fat Wizard thought indignantly, yet neither had the courage to stand up in class and loudly protest to the teacher nor dared to turn around and openly copy Zheng Qing’s answers, only able to continue biting the pen and twisting in his seat, tormenting his chair and feather pen.

Sitting behind Xin Fat Man, Zheng Qing naturally didn’t know the many thoughts of the Fat Wizard.

He was resting his chin on one hand, turning the feather pen in his fingers with the other hand boredly, his eyes staring blankly in the direction of Nicholas, with flashes of the conversation at noon in front of the library with his companions in his mind.

When Nicholas just entered the door, he paid special attention to take two looks, and indeed, he saw a strangely shaped new ruby ring on Nicholas’s hand.

He wondered if that is the rumored Philosopher’s Stone made by Korma.

Having already finished the paper, Zheng Qing spent the remaining time repeatedly pondering how to tactfully ask questions without provoking Nicholas.

However, as soon as the bell rang to dismiss the class and Teacher Zhang Huaigu collected the papers and walked out of the classroom, Zheng Qing hadn’t even had time to stand up before he was pressed onto the seat by Xin Fat Man in a predatory manner.

”How many talismans involving thunder are there in question seven of the first part? I wrote down three, is that enough?”

”...And the second part, the prototype of the talisman that is half missing and looks like a blind raven in question three, have we seen it before? What’s its effect, how did you write it?”

”...Besides, in the third part’s second small question, why is the method of burning talismans being tested? Isn’t that part of extracurricular reading? I remember very clearly, the exam syllabus doesn’t cover extracurricular reading. What’s the point of testing this kind of topic!”

The Fat Wizard bombarded Zheng Qing with queries and complaints, forcing Zheng Qing to lean his head back, unable to open his eyes.

”It’s just a simple preliminary test, no need to be so nervous!”

The young scholarship student pushed away the massive shadow in front of him, annoyance on his face: ”I don’t even know the answers to what you said, who remembers what content is in which question for such simple questions... Also, next time talk to me from a distance.”

After wiping his face, he turned his gaze back to Nicholas’s seat, only to find that in this brief interruption, the ponytail-wearing warlock had already disappeared, along with fellow student Liu Fei Fei.

No tiger chasing behind, yet running faster than a rabbit!

The young scholarship student thought with resentment, feeling heartache for the speech he’d crafted for over half an hour that never got to be used.

”Simple?”

Xin Fat Man looked at Zheng Qing with a twisted expression, fists clenched tight as if the next moment he would smash them onto Zheng Qing’s head, his face full of envy and jealousy, angrily shouting: ”I know questions are simple for someone like you who scores full marks in talismans... But for us good kids with only ’diligence’ as our talent, not knowing is not knowing!”

Zheng Qing had a retort stuck in his throat, wanting to say it but unable to.

He really didn’t associate ’diligence’ or ’good kid’ with this dead fat person in front of him.

Moreover, since when did not knowing become so justified? Did this dead fat man think he was Li Meng?

”I know the question about the incomplete talisman!”

On the other side, Zhang Ji Xin, who had just finished flipping through a book, overheard the group’s discussion and came over excitedly, grabbing Xin Fat Man’s shoulder and shaking him hard: ”You should flip that incomplete talisman upside down, it’s easy to recognize, it’s a Rang Star Symbol, Teacher Zhang taught last semester, it’s a protective talisman that cuts off the evil spirits of solitude and isolation.”

”A Rang Star Symbol? How did you discover that!”

Xin Fat Man turned his head, looking at the red-faced male wizard with a face full of disbelief, as if doubting his companion in front of him disguised as a demon.

Even Zheng Qing couldn’t help but give Zhang Ji Xin a curious look.

”Ah, luck, luck.”

Zhang Ji Xin touched the tip of his nose, showing an embarrassed yet polite smile on his reddish-brown face: ”My paper accidentally fell to the ground... got flipped... and then I accidentally discovered it.”

Such a coincidence, and it happens during an exam, truly lacks logic.

Xin Fat Man sighed sorrowfully, vigorously crumbled the feather pen in his hand, letting it squeak and cry in his hand: ”...Why are there preliminary tests! No other subject has this bad habit, why does the Fu Lu class have a preliminary test at the start of every semester! It’s simply unreasonable!”

”I guess that’s probably an ancient tradition.” When talking about such miscellaneous matters, the red-faced male wizard always has many unknown sources of information and eagerly joins in: ”I heard from my brother...”

”Speaking of tradition, should we send invitations to freshmen?”

Always silent, Xiao Xiao had no interest in hearing Zhang Ji Xin’s ’says’, turned to look at Zheng Qing, reminded: ”This week is the first week of school, the annual club recruitment contest is about to unfold... The Forgiveness Knight Order is about to celebrate its one-year anniversary, if you plan to continue this club, this year we should find ways to recruit new members.”

Zheng Qing really hadn’t considered this matter.
