High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1871: Chapter 92: The Night Before

On the Black Prison Battlefield, the female demon Shallow Jin Ryoko disguised herself as a purple-haired witch from the assistant team, tricking the Charm Guns from Zheng Qing and Jiang Yu, thereby eliminating the greatest threat to the young wizards.

At the time, several Charm Guns disappeared in a brilliant burst of light, and Zheng Qing momentarily thought they had all been crushed by Shallow Jin Ryoko.

It wasn’t until last night after the class meeting that Professor Yao privately called the young scholarship student and returned this Remington, letting Zheng Qing know that this gun had survived.

”...This gun is a trophy that Shallow Jin Ryoko voluntarily handed over.”

After a simple explanation of the gun’s origin, Professor Yao, biting his pipe, had his face hidden in the swirling smoke, making both his face and voice somewhat indistinct: ”Perhaps it was because of the special markings on the gun that it survived that terrifying battlefield, but it’s also because of those markings that the school’s safekeeping laboratories couldn’t confirm if it’s truly safe... eventually passing it to us old guys to decide.”

Zheng Qing knew what those ’special markings’ mentioned by Old Yao were.

This Remington was initially just an ordinary Charm Gun, a gift from Su Shijun to celebrate Zheng Qing’s first-place achievement in the freshman hunt at Jiuyou Academy—perhaps that is also why this Charm Gun ultimately survived. After all, a blessing from a Big Wizard tends to make it stand out from other Charm Guns to some extent.

Of course, it’s not only Su Shijun’s mark burnt on this Remington.

Before the Black Prison, in Dreamland, Hastur in a yellow robe had inscribed some yellow windmill-like runes on the gun; and prior to that, beside Lin Zhong Lake, after Zheng Qing nearly shot Sepulano, Old Yao also etched his mark on this Charm Gun; and most importantly, in the small world deep in the Silent Forest, after Zheng Qing and the incarnate of Satoguya perished together, the gun was once destroyed, but it was Mr. who repaired it.

Thinking of Mr., Zheng Qing suddenly looked up.

”What about the Colt Python?” The young warlock was full of confusion and hope: ”Did that female demon trick you? Both guns have... been repaired. There’s no reason for one to be intact and the other to be crushed.”

He mumbled ambiguously, without specifying who repaired the two guns.

The professor raised his eyebrow.

”As expected.”

He muttered, taking the pipe from his mouth and waved away the smoke in front of him; he carefully observed the young scholarship student’s expression as if discovering some rare treasure: ”Both guns were specially handled by someone... rest assured, that Silver Python is also intact, but several school labs believe these guns should have a better home compared to being handed to some no-name little wizard...”

Zheng Qing silently pouted and rolled his eyes.

These days, even robbing someone can be spoken of so openly.

Noticing the boy’s expression, Professor Yao coughed softly twice, pushing the pipe back into his mouth, puffing to make the smoke shroud his face once more, this time more thoroughly than before.

”Phua...”

”Don’t worry, both guns will be returned to you.”

Professor Yao first reassured Zheng Qing and patted his shoulder comfortingly, kindly explaining: ”This Remington was checked quickly, so I’m giving it back to you first, so you won’t be without anything handy... As for the other Silver Python, the school will return it to you as well once confirmed there’s no demon tampering.”

Zheng Qing noncommittally nodded.

He highly suspected it was because there were fewer ’special markings’ on the Colt Silver Python, making it easier for the school labs to ’check’, that it was withheld.

And now, this Remington, besides having Su Shijun, Mr., Old Yao, and Hastur’s markings, now had a small dark red Skull mark as well.

Noticing the boy’s gaze, the professor nodded and added: ”According to our testing, this mark seems to carry an identification effect... As long as you hold this gun, you’ll be recognized by demons as one of their own, and they won’t attack you. It’s a very useful yet highly dangerous feature. Like a slightly poisonous fruit, eating it can numb your tongue.”

Zheng Qing suddenly felt the gun was somewhat hot to hold.

A simple logic, since this gun can let demons discern friend from foe, does it perhaps carry some kind of tracking function? Would carrying this gun around carelessly lead to being grabbed by a suddenly appearing Great Demon?

Zheng Qing had no doubt about his appeal to certain entities and forces.

”Vice Principal Ruoyu helped you leave a concealing blessing on the gun body, sufficient to avoid being detected or tracked by demons while keeping its ’deceit’ function.”

The professor gently caressed the gun, briefly explaining, then suddenly placed it in Zheng Qing’s hand, indicating: ”Before giving it to you, a final experiment is needed... Come, shoot me.”

”Ah?”

Zheng Qing was somewhat caught off-guard, holding the Remington, blankly looking at Professor Yao, for quite a while, nervously declining: ”No, I can’t. Using it... is very dangerous!”

”I know.”

Mr. calmly held the gun barrel, aiming at his abdomen: ”After you almost shot Mike Gold Cypress Plano classmate, every slightly knowledgeable elder wizard in the school is prepared for this. But equally, I also have faith in myself.”

The young wizard immediately realized that standing before him wasn’t just the Astronomy Class 08-1 counselor, but also the dean of Jiuyou Academy, a terrifying ape demon with three heads and eight arms, a powerful existence advancing to Legend.

He looked around.

The sixth-floor corridor was slightly empty; after the class meeting, most of the people had vanished entirely, and even the stick figure by the door was nowhere to be found, only leaving behind a slightly yellowing white paper behind the door.

”Here?” The young scholarship student uneasily confirmed.

”Rest assured.”

The professor, with the pipe clenched between his teeth, smiled, uttering the word for God knows how many times tonight: ”If this gun could harm me, it would still harm me even in the depths of Silent Forest.”

Zheng Qing licked his dry lips, wanting to say he wasn’t worried about hurting this old demon but more about accidentally destroying the academic building and facing school reproach.

Yet, at the same time, he also felt Professor Yao’s confidence.

Thus, the boy decisively pulled the trigger.

A massive suction emerged from the gun body, like a whale inhaling a river, drawing the Curse Power escaping from the depths of his soul into the magazine, compressing, forming, then bursting out with a bang.

Zheng Qing clearly heard a little snake on his left ear hissing in displeasure, seemingly protesting the snatching of a delicacy.

Soon after, a faint cyan gleam flashed from the muzzle.

A phantom Fu Bullet flashed by, appearing slow but actually fast, striking towards Professor Yao’s chest.
