High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1891: Chapter 112: Aftermath

The young cost student slowly lifted his head, but instead of seeing the ceiling, he was faced with a massive, wrinkled, and writhing figure.

The administrator of Jiuyou Academy Library was silently hovering above the table, staring intently with its crystalline and vacant large eyes at the two boys who had violated the loud noise rule.

Zheng Qing quietly swallowed a gulp.

Compared to usual, Mr. Octopus’s presence was exceptionally heavy at this moment, a faint gray-black hue covering its originally chubby and cute figure, now exuding an indescribable pressure, forcing the students in this small area into a stunned silence, as still as cicadas in winter.

”First time coming to the library?”

The administrator spat out a string of pitch-black characters, each as big as Zheng Qing’s face, the font stern, each stroke as sharp as a blade, making the boys’ spine tingle with fear.

”No, it’s not.”

Zheng Qing forced a dry laugh, cautiously eyeing Mr. Octopus’s tentacles—those eight stout arms resembling crab legs, curled beneath itself, the tips clumped together like large, sand-pot-sized fists.

Zheng Qing had no doubt about the consequences of those seemingly soft ’fists’ if they were to hit his head.

So he behaved even more obediently.

”Want me to send you out?!”

Mr. Octopus spat out another series of pitch-black bubble letters, followed by a large question mark and exclamation mark.

The two warlocks shook their heads frantically, raising their hands in unison and making a zipper-sealing gesture at their mouths.

This slightly improved the administrator’s mood.

Its skin also began visibly shedding that gray-black layer, gradually returning to its usual semi-transparency. The two boys both sighed a small breath of relief.

Then Mr. Octopus curled up two of its arms, putting them behind it like an old scholar, and spat out a series of ancient, flowing small characters: ”As they say, once or twice is fine, but never thrice... If there’s a next time, I’ll throw you out directly, and not allow you in the library for a week!”

Zheng Qing watched helplessly as the string of black letters hit the letter Jiang Yu gave him like a series of bullets, leaving a messy stain, instantly upsetting him.

”Did you hear me?!”

The administrator almost sprayed a few bomb-like large characters right on the boys’ eyelids. The boys nodded madly in agreement, fearing that any slower and this perverted octopus would drag them out in front of everyone.

...

...

Though Zheng Qing felt he had already wasted too much energy on Lin Yan’s intent to acquire the Absolution Hunting Team, he still underestimated the impact of the hunting team or hunting on most wizards.

Initially, it was only members within the Absolution Hunting Team sending paper cranes to verify the truth, but gradually, more and more cranes from outside the team came to him—starting with requests for verification, then inquiries on investment, consultations on sale prices, and whether they would accept acquisitions from wizards of other academies, among others. There were also many recommendation letters from newly admitted freshmen hoping to join the ’well-known’ hunting team.

All of this greatly annoyed Zheng Qing.

He didn’t know how the news spread.

Perhaps while he was communicating with other members of the Absolution Hunting Team, someone overheard; or maybe the cost student named Alpha spread it deliberately seeking fame.

In any case, starting from Saturday noon, the paper cranes inquiring about the sale of the Absolution Hunting Team flew into the library incessantly.

Colorful paper cranes clustered above the boy’s head like a small cloud, their wing-flapping sounds and the sound of them colliding echoed continuously, conspicuously loud amidst the silent bookshelves, leading to the young cost student ultimately failing to escape the library administrator’s tentacles, being dragged out by a black-faced Mr. Octopus and tossed out.

The warlock curled up into a ball obediently with his head in his arms and was not hurt.

Along with him, Xiao Xiao was tossed out too, for not fulfilling his responsibilities as a former library assistant librarian.

”I’m not working in the library anymore, why should I care!”

Doctor Xiao, holding a pile of reference books, stood at the library entrance, muttering with disgruntlement: ”No wonder everyone says wizards who maintain their realms by converting life are freaks!”

”In the literal sense of ’freak’,” Zheng Qing, looking at the agitated diviner, felt inexplicably relieved, and kindly added, ”...like the relationship between tadpoles and frogs.”

The short warlock squinted sideways at Zheng Qing.

Zheng Qing gave an awkward yet polite smile.

”This is your karma, you have to take full responsibility.” Doctor Xiao took a deep breath in, then a deep breath out, seemingly returning to his usual calmness.

However, judging by his still slightly crooked glasses—an aftereffect from being dragged out by Mr. Octopus—it was clear he was not as composed as he appeared.

Zheng Qing wisely did not point out this small flaw.

”To Liu Fei Fei’s study room?” he earnestly suggested, ”Like we did at the end of last semester? She’s still this year’s top student, so that study room should still belong to her, right?”

This was a rather good solution.

”The only problem is, what about them?” Xiao Xiao habitually adjusted his glasses and gestured to the colorful paper cranes circling above Zheng Qing’s head.

Zheng Qing’s expression immediately fell.

”What else can we do? Just let it be!”

The captain of the Absolution Hunting Team finally lost his previous good mood, looked up at the paper cranes jostling for a perch on his shoulder, and deeply sighed: ”I didn’t expect things to turn out this way either.”

Xiao Xiao looked at him speechlessly.

”After all, you are a wizard who has been drawing line drawings for more than half a year; you should learn to draw more divination symbols when encountering matters, so at least you won’t be flustered in the moment.” He advised with heartfelt sincerity: ”If only you added your summer experiences into the line drawings you’d initially prepared last semester, making slight adjustments to the variables, even if you wouldn’t know there would be so many paper cranes, you should have known the commotion wouldn’t be so small.”

”Just those few words we casually talked about outside the library?” Zheng Qing still couldn’t quite understand, feeling others were blowing it out of proportion.

”Again, you belittle yourself and underestimate the influence of Absolution.”

Xiao Xiao raised a finger, waving it in front of Zheng Qing, unhurriedly explaining: ”Not to mention last year’s championship in the freshman hunting competition, just at the end of last semester, the Absolution Hunting Team ventured into the Dreamland and participated in the Black Prison battle—especially the latter, making our hunting team the only one in First University composed of current students that participated in a large-scale battle.”
