However, her optimism and cheerfulness also affected everyone, and the company atmosphere became more harmonious.

Today, just as she finished managing all the company’s official social media accounts in the office, she saw Brooke Osborne calling her.

She thought for a moment and answered, ”Hello, Miss Osborne.”

Brooke hurriedly said, ”Lawrence, I wanted to ask you, how’s the preparation for the project going? You can’t just keep delaying on that land, can you? The bank interest is a considerable sum every day.”

Lawrence Winters was a bit surprised that even Brooke Osborne valued her piece of land so much.

She smiled and said perfunctorily, ”Thank you for the reminder, Miss Osborne, I’ll be careful!”

Brooke curled her lips and said, ”So when will you sign the contract with my company? The sooner the contract is signed, the sooner they can start working.”

”Contract? What contract?” Lawrence pretended not to know, ”We haven’t even chosen a construction company yet...”

”Really? Do you have other options?” Brooke was quite surprised, ”Wasn’t it only my company that bid?”

”Yes, but the law requires that there can’t be only one company bidding, so we’re still waiting to see if any other company bids.” Lawrence said with a smile, ”Miss Osborne, we’re not in a hurry, why are you?”

”It’s my brother’s business, you tell me if I’m anxious or not?” Brooke couldn’t believe Lawrence Winters was unwilling to sign a contract with her company, even if no other company had bid.

What’s the meaning of this?

Lawrence’s smile faded, ”It’s not Kenneth’s business, it’s a partnership between my family and Kenneth. For now, that land is still ours and has nothing to do with Kenneth.”

”Oh, don’t say that...” Brooke was quite displeased, ”You got a ten-billion loan from the bank, with my brother’s company as guarantor. Without my brother, could you have acquired that land? Don’t burn your bridges after crossing the river. Just because my brother doesn’t say anything doesn’t mean you should take his goodwill for granted.”

Lawrence tightened her grip on the mouse, but her tone remained light: ”Haha... what can I do? Miss Osborne, your brother just likes guaranteeing for me, I can’t help it... Besides, we’re going to be married eventually, what’s the point in being so clear-cut?”

Brooke had been wronged by Gregory Quinn before, so she was very cautious in this aspect now.

She wasn’t aware that Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne had already registered their marriage, so it was easy for her to relate the incident of Lawrence letting Kenneth take a loan to buy land for her family, to when Gregory tricked her into taking a loan to buy him a house.

Brooke’s face immediately changed, ”Lawrence, I watched you grow up, you can’t be like that scumbag Gregory Quinn. I remember you often said that as a Heavenly Master, you care about cause and effect. If you trick my brother out of his money, how do you calculate this cause and effect?”

”Gregory Quinn only tricked me out of five hundred thousand, and here you are with ten billion!” Brooke’s voice was almost trembling.

Lawrence sighed and said flatly, ”Brooke Osborne, it was still me who helped you get back that five hundred thousand. If I really wanted to scam someone, you would have been bankrupt long ago. — Take care of yourself, don’t say I didn’t warn you, Cameron Spencer isn’t a good person.”

”Why are you insulting people?” Brooke was furious, ”Yes, you helped me, and I’m grateful for it for a lifetime! Even if you made me bankrupt, I’d accept it. But you can’t deceive my brother! And, as for Mr. Spencer being good or bad, I’m more qualified than you to say!”

It’s simply tangled and unclear.

Lawrence no longer wanted to talk to her, so she hung up the phone and blocked Brooke Osborne directly.

Brooke thought it was a disconnection and redialed several times, but couldn’t get through or even send a message, only then did she realize Lawrence had blocked her.

Brooke was also very angry and, in a hurry, called Kenneth Osborne.

Kenneth had just finished a meeting, and the second one hadn’t started yet, so he was quickly going through the company’s monthly financial report in his office.

Noticing it was Brooke’s number, he quickly put down what he was doing and answered the phone.

”Sis, what’s up? I have ten minutes.” Kenneth reminded Brooke straight to the point.

Brooke bit her lip, did not mention the embarrassment she suffered from Lawrence, and only said, ”I was just asking how the preparations for the construction over there are going. Your brother-in-law reminded you that you can presell, sell the pre-construction units, and stir up sales while it’s hot, otherwise, once the hype subsides, it won’t be so easy to make money.”

Kenneth frowned slightly and said, ”We haven’t even found a construction company, how can we presell? At least we need renderings, right?”

”... You still need to find a construction company?” Brooke was taken aback, ”Isn’t it supposed to be my company?”

She didn’t expect Kenneth to listen to Lawrence’s words so much, Brooke felt a bit uncomfortable inside.

Kenneth: ”...”

He rubbed his temple with a headache and said, ”Sis, this needs to be tendered. The first tender was annulled because only your company participated. We need to prepare, and there might be a second tender.”

”No matter how many tenders you have, you should sign with my company.” This time Brooke was resolute, ”Kenneth, to be honest, I’m quite worried Lawrence might use tricks on you.”

”Don’t forget, Gregory Quinn tricked me back then, asking me to take a loan before we even registered, to buy a house for him.”

”Now you and I are in exactly the same situation, not registered yet you’re already using your company to guarantee a loan for Lawrence’s family to buy land.”

”Hurry up and presell while they still need you, sell the pre-construction units, and pay off the bank’s debt first.” Brooke was worried Kenneth might follow in her footsteps.

Kenneth found it more amusing, shook his head, intended to say they’d already registered, and said, ”No way, Nora isn’t like that, especially since she and I...”

He didn’t finish his sentence before Brooke interrupted him anxiously, ”See, you still don’t believe me! I just spoke with Lawrence earlier, asking her to hurry and sign with my company, and she refused. When I suggested she might be like Gregory, deceiving you, she got angry and blocked me!”

The incident of being deceived by Gregory was a knot in Brooke’s heart.

So when she encountered a similar situation, she became obsessive and was hard to convince.

Kenneth realized something was wrong, ”What? Nora blocked you? What did you say to upset her? Sis, don’t forget who came up with the idea to help you back then, how can you talk to her like that?”
