Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 698: Chapter 363: Innocent and Above Reproach

Kenneth Osborne sighed and nodded at Spring Spencer at the door, letting them leave first.

Spring Spencer smiled knowingly, mouthed silently, ”We’ll wait for you...”

She turned and left, her demeanor extremely graceful.

Meanwhile, on the phone, Lawrence Winters was still lingering on the matter.

Kenneth Osborne felt a bit drained.

He pressed his lips together and said, ”Nora, I was in a meeting just now. Cameron’s company is also a special effects production company. They’re collaborating with us on post-production effects for Lucas Harlow’s fantasy drama. Do you realize what you just said?”

”What did I say? I just asked if you were with Spring Spencer, and you started on all these tangents! What do you mean by that?” Lawrence Winters, like a startled hedgehog, bristled defensively.

”We were having a meeting with over a hundred people from both companies, and all phones were on silent.” Kenneth Osborne tried to explain.

But due to a series of events, Lawrence Winters already harbored deep resentment toward Cameron Spencer and the Spencer Family.

She lowered her face and said, ”Kenneth Osborne, what if I want you to terminate the collaboration with Spring Spencer’s company? Will you agree?”

”Nora, business is business. We have a contract.” Kenneth Osborne didn’t want to discuss this any further and his attitude turned somewhat firm. ”Besides, I’ve never interfered with the operations of your family’s firm. If I asked you to stop being a Heavenly Master, would you agree?”

”That’s different.” Lawrence Winters didn’t feel she was wrong and confidently said, ”I’ve always been a Heavenly Master and will continue to be one, just like you with artificial intelligence. It’s your dream, your pursuit. If I asked you to stop working with AI, would you agree?”

”Of course not. So why don’t we both take a step back and cut each other some slack?” Kenneth Osborne glanced at his watch. ”Alright, don’t be mad. I haven’t revoked any guarantees. As for the bank issue, I’ll sort it out when I have time. Now that you’ve lost the money, maybe it’s best to give up on developing the land and sell it directly.”

”The real estate industry is too complicated and not suitable...”

Lawrence Winters, stirred up, curled her lips and sneered, ”Which industry isn’t complicated? If you’re afraid of this and that, you’d just be a turtle hiding in its shell. If the waters are deep, just learn to swim. If you can’t swim, build a bridge—there’s always a way. But what about you? Can’t you do good special effects without collaborating with Spring Spencer’s company?”

”Isn’t your software so powerful that I could complete the entire production alone? Do you still need to collaborate with others?” The jealousy within Lawrence Winters grew wildly; she simply didn’t want to see Kenneth Osborne and Spring Spencer together.

Kenneth Osborne closed his eyes and said with restraint, ”Fine, if you insist on putting it that way, I can cancel the collaboration with Cameron’s company, but can you resign from Edward Foster’s company?”

”Of course not,” Lawrence Winters blurted out. ”I said they’re two different things. I’m completely innocent with Edward, so why are you always targeting him?”

”The same words back to you. I’m completely innocent with Cameron too, so why are you always targeting her?” Kenneth Osborne retorted with equal strength.

Lawrence Winters was left dumbfounded, feeling even more distressed.

This was the first time that Kenneth Osborne defended another woman in front of her, besides his family.

She could understand him defending Brooke Osborne since she was his sister. Although Lawrence Winters grew to dislike Brooke more and more, she could accept Kenneth Osborne’s stance.

After all, she would do the same to protect her own family.

But Spring Spencer?

What right did she have to get Kenneth Osborne to speak up for her like this?

Especially since Lawrence Winters had already said she didn’t want to see Spring Spencer around Kenneth Osborne, and he seemed unfazed...

For the first time, she couldn’t control her temper and growled, ”Fine! You defend her like that, so are you saying that no matter how much I oppose it, you’ll keep interacting with her?”

”Nora, when doing business, it’s inevitable to collaborate with women. If I listen to you this time, then what about next time? Does that mean I can’t talk or work with any woman besides you? What about you? Can you manage not to talk or work with any man?” Kenneth Osborne realized he still didn’t quite understand Lawrence Winters. Isn’t this a double standard?

”Stop with the comparisons, one after another. It’s clear that in your heart, collaborating with her is more important than my preferences.” Lawrence Winters felt not only jealousy but a heavy sense of disappointment.

If she had known, she wouldn’t have chosen to be with him...

She thought she was the most important in his heart.
