Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 656: Chapter 344: Let’s Not Beat Around the Bush (Second Update)

Francis Johnson took a step back, concealing himself in the darkness.

Several men behind him took a step forward, surrounding Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne.

Lawrence Winters pressed her lips together, thinking, is this the reason for her unease all day?

No wonder the fortune-telling results were always bad...

She knew a little about Francis Johnson’s true identity, not much, but enough to scare her out of her wits.

If Kenneth Osborne hadn’t been holding her hand to support her, she might have already collapsed to the ground.

How embarrassing would that be?

Lawrence thought, being ushered with Kenneth by those men towards the elevator.

Edward Foster and Lucas Harlow happened to arrive at the door and saw this scene, exchanging a glance.

They saw the doubts and worries in each other’s eyes.

Their expressions darkened, but no one spoke.

It was only after those people entered the elevator and the doors gently closed that they began to speak.

”...Were those people with Kenneth Osborne?”

”I think I saw Mr. Zhao from SSA Private Equity...”

Although a bit worried, recalling that it was Kenneth Osborne and Francis Johnson who took Lawrence Winters away, they thought it shouldn’t be anything serious.

Yet, when they returned to the conference room, each took out their phone and sent Lawrence Winters a message, asking if she was okay.

Lawrence Winters was currently sitting on the back seat of a black modified Hummer, her back straight like a student in class, not daring to move.

Feeling the vibration of her phone in her pocket, she dared not take it out.

Francis Johnson sat to her left, Kenneth Osborne to her right, with Lawrence in the middle.

Throughout the journey, Francis Johnson said nothing, while the driver and another man in the front were silent as if they didn’t exist.

Kenneth Osborne kept holding her hand, saying nothing but at least supporting her.

Lawrence herself didn’t know that she was quietly sliding toward Kenneth’s side. Upon getting out, she was almost leaning on Kenneth, while a space for another person separated her from Francis Johnson.

Francis Johnson clicked his tongue; he couldn’t reconcile the formidable Lawrence, who could take on three men and perfectly emulate wounds, with the delicate, timid creature before him, seemingly without a spine.

Are these really the same person?

Did she really do it?

After getting out of the car, Lawrence lifted her eyes to take in the surrounding scenery.

She had never been here before and figured they must be outside the city, surrounded by dense forests—not mere waist-high shrubs, but actual large trees.

It was nearing dusk, the sun had set, and there were not many sunset clouds in the sky. Entering the path through the woods, the light was blocked by dense branches, making it somewhat dark.

Lawrence took a while to adjust to the forest surroundings.

The group weaved through the woods, following a path for about ten minutes before exiting the grove.

The view suddenly opened up.

The lawn was neatly trimmed, lush and green.

Irregular flowerbeds adorned the lawn, with colorful flowers blooming on the dark, fertile soil.

Lawrence glanced and identified seven or eight types of particularly vibrant flowers.

There were clusters of lilac-pink daphne flowers forming small balls.

Shyly blooming white camellias, pale blue and white hydrangeas, azaleas resembling dwarf magnolias, and multilayered flowers resembling miniature chrysanthemums adorned the space.

Golden yellow winter jasmine hung down from the roofs of the low houses in front, with pots of cyclamen and orchids beautifully arranged like plastic flowers by the door.

At this view, the low houses on the open ground looked like something out of a fairytale.

The natural beauty significantly alleviates anxiety, so gardening is far better than anxiety medication when in a bad mood, with no side effects.

Lawrence exhaled gently, feeling a bit less tense.

The men brought by Francis didn’t proceed further; they stopped at the edge of the lawn, standing in small groups, appearing relaxed but actually vigilant.

Francis Johnson gestured toward one of the small houses and said to Lawrence, ”Please.”

Lawrence held Kenneth Osborne’s hand, intending to walk forward.

However, Francis blocked Kenneth and continued to Lawrence, ”You go alone.”

Lawrence’s newly eased tension spiked again.

Kenneth also grew uneasy, glancing at Francis, who winked at the couple, ”It’s okay, let Lawrence go by herself.”
