Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 697: Chapter 362: Never Again, It Will Never Happen Again

The Winters Family used Kenneth Osborne to take out a bank loan, and then kicked him out.

How can this be?

Brooke Osborne was indescribably distressed and couldn’t bring herself to blame Kenneth Osborne. She comforted him with a few words before hanging up the phone.

Then she picked up another phone and called Lawrence Winters.

Lawrence Winters was still angry and didn’t want to answer the call at all.

Brooke Osborne called more than a dozen times before Lawrence Winters lazily answered with a ”Hello.”

Brooke Osborne immediately said, ”Lawrence, it’s me, Brooke Osborne. I know you’ve blocked me, but there are some things I must say.”

Lawrence Winters rolled his eyes, ”Please, go ahead.”

”Lawrence, I’ve watched you grow up. This time, you’ve gone too far. What did our Kenneth ever do to you? Why would you kick him out?” Brooke Osborne still had residual anger, ”For the sake of your family’s land, Kenneth and I ran back and forth, helping your family make arrangements. You didn’t appreciate it, but you went too far?”

”Hey, big sis, did having a baby lower your IQ? People say ’a pregnancy will make you stupid for three years,’ and it seems true. Plus, you weren’t smart to begin with.” Lawrence Winters, feeling angry, thought Brooke Osborne was turning the tables on him and so was even less polite in his words.

”Why did I kick him out? Have you asked your brother?”

Brooke Osborne really had a good temper, not getting especially angry when Lawrence Winters pointed his nose at her and shouted. She just said, ”I’m not smart, but I know about shame and how to be good to family. I don’t turn my elbows outward. But you? You don’t know the facts, refuse to cooperate with my company, and even kicked Kenneth out. How can we trust Kenneth to marry you?”

”Kenneth guaranteed you, borrowing ten billion from the bank! — Are you really going to behave like that bastard Gregory Quinn?!”

”That’s none of your concern.” Lawrence Winters sneered, ”Don’t you know the real reason your brother stepped down? Don’t be a pawn without realizing it. Besides, it was our firm that borrowed the money. Your brother was just a guarantor. Why are you so anxious? — This will be the last time. Don’t keep changing numbers to call me when there’s nothing. I’m very busy.”

After Lawrence Winters finished speaking, he blocked Brooke Osborne’s number too.

Brooke Osborne realized she couldn’t get through again and felt even worse about Lawrence Winters.

She just felt that something was going wrong.

She couldn’t sleep the whole night, and woke up early the next day. After feeding little Winter, she went to see Cameron Spencer.

Cameron Spencer saw her black circles and knew she hadn’t slept well, smiling as he asked her, ”What’s going on? Is it very tricky?”

”I’m worried my brother’s in trouble.” Brooke Osborne rubbed her temples, ”He guaranteed someone for a ten billion loan and now has been kicked out. I don’t know...”

”I think it should be fine, but it’s safer to check with the bank,” Cameron Spencer smiled slightly, ”I know some people at the bank, I’ll ask them.”

So by noon, Lawrence Winters received a repayment notice from the bank, saying that because the company that borrowed the money with the guarantee was withdrawing it, they were concerned something might go wrong, so they hoped Lawrence Winters could repay early.

If they couldn’t repay immediately, the bank wanted to seize the mortgaged land.

Commercial loan agreements with banks do indeed have these early repayment clauses; it’s a risk-spreading measure by the bank.

Lawrence Winters originally borrowed ten billion from the bank, gave five billion to Ouyang, leaving only five billion.

Fortunately, Lucas Harlow later invested five billion in her, which hadn’t been used yet, making a total of ten billion, which could be repaid immediately.

She thought this was the reason Brooke Osborne called her yesterday, and Kenneth Osborne was also no longer guaranteeing her.

Isn’t this going too far?

Lawrence Winters thought about it, and in a fit of anger, told the bank’s collector, ”Don’t worry, I’ll repay the loan and transfer the money back to the bank account.”

She spent an entire morning settling the ten billion, and then there was no more money in the account.

She looked at the cleared account, her heart ached, and she couldn’t help but call Kenneth Osborne again.

It turned out that today was when Spring Spencer’s team came to exchange ideas, and their team was in a meeting with Kenneth Osborne’s team, so he couldn’t answer right away.

By the time he saw dozens of missed calls from Lawrence Winters and called back instantly, Lawrence Winters was already furious.

”Kenneth Osborne! You’re ruthless! You said you were quitting and then you quit! You said you were canceling the guarantee and then you canceled it!”

”If Lucas hadn’t helped me, my land would’ve been seized by the bank! — What on earth are you doing?! Do you not want to live anymore?!”

The sound of Lawrence Winters pounding the desk with her fist could be heard even over the phone by Kenneth Osborne.

His voice grew cold, ”Nora, I said before, you can’t speak recklessly. What do you mean canceling the guarantee? What are you talking about?”

”Don’t pretend to be dumb again! Your sister called me last night with a different number to warn me, saying I shouldn’t have kicked you out, saying I used you to cheat money out of the bank!”

”Today the bank called, saying you canceled the guarantee and asked us to repay immediately!”

”Ten billion! A whole ten billion! I paid it all back! I paid it all back!” Lawrence Winters was almost going mad.

Kenneth Osborne was slightly stunned, ”I didn’t cancel the guarantee. Which bank manager called you? This is negligence!”

”You didn’t cancel? Really?” After her outburst, Lawrence Winters’ mind cleared a bit, ”You really didn’t?”

”Of course not. Canceling a guarantee requires written documentation. Ask them if I signed any written documentation.” Kenneth Osborne also got angry, ”Did you just return the money like that?”

Lawrence Winters: ”...”

”...Yes. I did it myself, paid back into the loan account.”

Kenneth Osborne also pounded the table, annoyed, ”Why are you so impulsive? Why didn’t you ask me before making a decision? Ten billion, do you think it’s ten dollars?”

”I know! That’s why I’m angry! Anybody can criticize and manipulate, it’s just a piece of land, right? I’ve really locked horns with that bastard Cameron Spencer!”

Lawrence Winters regained her senses and immediately realized it was Cameron Spencer pulling the strings.

Only he had such clout, persuading the bank to demand repayment without a written document to cancel the guarantee.

These old business people are all in cahoots with the bank.

Despite her frustration, Lawrence Winters felt even more displeased with Kenneth Osborne, ”Look at your family... your sister...”

”Nora, no matter how bad they are, they’re still my family, don’t say those things in front of me.” Kenneth Osborne sternly stopped her.

Lawrence Winters also knew it wasn’t right to say, so she swallowed her words awkwardly and changed the subject, ”Yes, your family is important. I won’t disturb you anymore. In any case, we’re even now...”

Before she finished her sentence, she suddenly heard someone on the other end raising their voice at Kenneth Osborne: ”Mr. Osborne, are you done with your call? Everyone’s going to dinner, are you coming?”

The woman’s voice was crisp and clear, yet with a slightly husky and unique tone.

Lawrence Winters could never forget that voice, and her face suddenly changed: ”Is that Spring Spencer?—Kenneth Osborne, were you with Spring Spencer just now when you didn’t answer my call?!”
