He took a deep breath, sneered, and said, ”Nora, you really are like a blind man holding a light, able to illuminate others but not yourself. Have you considered your own trustworthiness towards me? Can you keep your distance from Edward Foster in the future?”

”Why? He’s my boss. Do you expect me not to talk to him, not to interact with him? Is that even possible?” Lawrence Winters scoffed with utter disdain.

Kenneth Osborne pursed his lips and said, ”He’s just your boss. Do you need to be so close to him?”

”Close? Is something wrong with your brain?” Lawrence was already simmering with anger over Brooke’s affairs today, just barely holding it in.

Unexpectedly, Kenneth came to pick a fight before she could even explode.

Now that Kenneth was accusing her first, she couldn’t hold back and immediately retaliated: ”Which eye of yours saw me getting close to him? Did I hug him, kiss him, or sleep with him?”

Kenneth was feeling a pang of jealousy, blurting out without thinking.

Seeing that Lawrence didn’t understand his feelings at all and even spoke more outrageously, he was also annoyed. ”... Do I need to catch you in the act for you to admit your mistake? Don’t you think it would be too late by then?”

Lawrence exploded, ”You want to catch me in the act?! Do you want to put a chain on me and lock me up?! You talk and laugh with female employees, did I ever say a word? Did you forget you watched the moon with another woman before?!”

Kenneth’s brows furrowed tighter and tighter, a layer of thin anger surfaced in his deep eyes, he said hoarsely, ”I’m the same with everyone in the company. Do you think someone like me, who started from scratch, can do whatever I want like those rich second generations? — A boss who’s always stern, unreasonable, and flies off the handle but still earns his subordinates’ abiding loyalty and achieves business success, only exists in those silly CEO novels you read!”

”Don’t insult my CEO novels!” Lawrence sternly warned him, ”Stop beating around the bush?! You not only watched the moon with another woman, you also said I was impolite in front of them!”

Kenneth was completely baffled, not remembering any such thing, and said after a moment of shock, ”You’re making things up now. When did I watch the moon with another woman or say you were impolite?”

”Nora, what happened to you? Are you fabricating facts just to argue?”

”Fabricate facts?!” Lawrence was really angry, ”Kenneth Osborne! You dare not admit what you’ve done! — Remember the time at Summer Spencer and Blake Leaf’s wedding, you were with Spring Spencer outside the convention center watching the moon!”

”I caught you but you won’t admit it! You also said I was impolite in front of Spring Spencer!”

Although Kenneth’s gentle and considerate behavior on that day made her not mind at the time, the seeds of doubt and anger were planted, growing in her heart.

When the time is ripe, they will grow wildly and cover that piece of sky that belongs to Kenneth densely.

Kenneth finally recalled what happened that night, his lips pressed even tighter.

”Nora, I never thought you’d be unreasonable. That day, Blake was pestering Miss Spencer, and I happened to come out and saw it, just to help her out. — Watching the moon together, is that all you saw?”

Lawrence remembered Blake Leaf also reminded her that day to keep an eye on her man, lest someone snatches her corner and she doesn’t even know it. Her conviction was even stronger, and she said with a cold sneer, ”Yeah, Blake Leaf is indeed nothing, has no ability nor means, but he managed to date the older sister first and then marry the younger one!”

”Do you really think, with her capabilities, if the older sister wanted to, Blake could escape her grasp?! Would that younger sister stand a chance?!”

”When did Summer Spencer and Blake Leaf, this couple married midway, ever stand a chance against Spring Spencer?!”

”You’re the one who has been deceived! Women pretending to be weak and acting, only you men can’t see through the truth!”

Kenneth curled his lips, knowing Lawrence was jealous, but he wasn’t very happy, saying blandly, ”Okay, don’t presume culpability. You know what kind of person Blake Leaf is, don’t you? Didn’t you look down on him? Because of him, Cousin Summer almost got into trouble, and your arm was nearly cut off, did you forget?”

”Now, just to attack Spring Spencer, Blake Leaf has become a forgivable tool person?”

”Nora, be fair, be rational. Spring Spencer has been an executive of a large corporation for so many years, and her ability and means are certainly top-notch, but that doesn’t mean she won’t get hurt emotionally.”

”Kenneth Osborne! Are you speaking up for Spring Spencer?! You’re defending a woman I can’t stand using in front of me!” Lawrence was so angry that she was panting, clutching her chest, feeling like she was stabbed multiple times, her face turned white, ”Who is your wife exactly! Do you have any clarity on that?!”

”I’m not speaking up for her; I’m advising you to be rational and objective. You can’t insult someone who has given genuine feelings, regardless of gender.” Kenneth gave her a side glance, ”And you’re swearing in front of me, Lawrence Winters, you’ve become quite capable.”

”What’s wrong with swearing! I’m just that streetwise! Since childhood, I’ve roamed the world with my uncle, I don’t have the ability or demeanor of those rich second generations or beauties! So what? Do you regret it?!” Lawrence’s emotions were almost at the breaking point.

She always knew Kenneth had a bias against her and Nick Zeller’s mystical business, but she never blamed him.

Because, indeed, their line is unconventional and can’t be compared with those of legitimate large enterprises.

But he can’t look down on her, nor can he praise another woman in front of her, and still think she’s irrational, unfair, and subjective!

He’s the man she loves, her lawfully wedded husband, how could he treat her like this?

The long-standing tensions between them erupted violently at this moment, and Lawrence couldn’t suppress herself from shouting, ”Stop the car! Stop the car! I want to get out! Stop the car!”

She even wanted to grab Kenneth’s steering wheel.

Kenneth was startled, one hand stopped her arm, and he quickly pulled the car over to the divider.

Lawrence tore away from his arm, flung open the door, and ran out.

Kenneth looked around and realized they were almost at the entrance of Lawrence’s upscale apartment complex.

He didn’t chase after her but watched her figure run towards the gate of the complex, then powerlessly lowered his head, clenching his hands into fists, and slammed them hard on the steering wheel.

After sitting in the car for a while, Kenneth pulled out his phone, his face cold as he sent a message.
