Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 632: Chapter 335: Only She Matters Most (Second Update)_4

The sound of night owls rose and fell intermittently, accompanied by the rustling of insects.

Everything quickly returned to tranquility.

Gabrielle Winters sat on the ground and said, ”Brother, let me take you down the mountain. Our car is at the foot.”

Nick Zeller gave a bitter smile, ”Don’t be silly, would they leave the car for us?”

Gabrielle: ”...”

She recalled how, when she was dragged from the car, the other party somehow managed to open the car door.

The car keys were still inside.

”Too bad they took our phones, otherwise I could call my mentor and have him find a way to get us out,” Nick sighed deeply, ”It’s my fault, I’ve dragged you into this.”

He had been overconfident, thinking he was invincible, but in the end, he fell into a well-laid trap.

Gabrielle sighed, ”If you put it that way, then I dragged you down. If it weren’t for me, you’d now be a professor of microelectronics at a prestigious foreign university, living a much better life.”

As she spoke, she used her sleeve to gently wipe the dirt and blood tears from Nick’s face.

Her movements were gentle, slowly cleaning his face until it was clean.

The night in the mountain forest was still a bit chilly.

Gabrielle noticed that Nick was starting to run a fever and became even more anxious.

Summoning all her strength, she helped him stand and said, ”Let’s take shelter in the coffin; it’s a bit better than outside. There’s ventilation in the lid.”

Otherwise, she couldn’t have stayed inside unharmed for an hour.

Nick nodded, feeling a bit dizzy, allowing Gabrielle to support him as they entered the coffin together.

Gabrielle pulled the coffin lid over their heads, concealing the starry sky.

She lay on her side next to Nick, careful not to touch his wounds.

Even though Nick was feverish, he was certain this was the best moment of his life.

At this time, nothing else mattered; only she did.

He never got the chance to share a bed with her, but having the chance to lay in a coffin together was worth this life.

As Nick was lost in thoughts, he suddenly felt two very soft things press against his lips, then quickly separate.

Boom!

All the blood in Nick’s body seemed to be squeezed out of his heart, leaving it overwhelmed, pounding intensely.

The fever grew worse, almost making him believe he was hallucinating.

Until Gabrielle’s gentle voice whispered in his ear, ”Nick, once we get back, let’s be together, okay?”

It wasn’t a hallucination, it really wasn’t!

Nick turned his head in the coffin, trying to see Gabrielle, but for some reason, though he could see the stars, her face remained blurred.

Something seemed to obscure his vision, wet and constantly trickling down.

”Nick, if you don’t say anything, I’ll take it as your agreement. Don’t cry...”

Gabrielle trembled as she wiped away his tears.

Nick finally found his voice, rasping, ”Sister, don’t do this, you don’t have to offer yourself to me. I was good to you not because I wanted you to repay me... Really... When you do this, I feel terrible.”

”No, I’m not offering myself to you.” Gabrielle gently rested her head on his shoulder, ”Over the past twenty years, your kindness, do you think I didn’t feel it? I just didn’t want to hold you back. You can obviously find someone better than me...”

”But today, I realized I can’t live without you. If I gave up a man like you, it would be the second biggest mistake of my life!”

Nick could hardly believe his ears, not daring to trust his eyes or this world.

The happiness he had longed for decades arrived in such a heartrending contrast; he didn’t know whether to celebrate by thanking all the deities or curse the ”thieving heavens” a few times!

...

At the same time, Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne had just checked into a hotel.

This was also the largest bathhouse in the northern city.

While Kenneth handled the check-in at the front desk, Lawrence found herself uneasy, unable to focus.

Her mind was in a flurry, as if something uncontrollable was about to happen.

The last two times she felt this way were the nights when the Madman Sister and the Three Hundred Million Sister almost got into trouble.

She didn’t know who it was this time.

Lawrence pressed her lips together, took out her phone, and asked her friends and family if they were safe.

Very few people were still awake at one in the morning.

The only quick reply she received was from Edward Foster.
