Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 601: Chapter 323: Is That Child Doing Well? (Second Update)

”You child, you only know how to talk nonsense! Can your situation be the same as mine and your dad’s?!” Mrs. Foster remembered those past events, and she wished she could give Edward Foster a slap.

It’s a pity she can’t hit him over the phone, otherwise she’d definitely beat this guy up.

Edward Foster knew when to stop, so he quickly laughed and said, ”Alright, alright, it was my nonsense, don’t be angry Mom, take care of yourself, and once I find you a good daughter-in-law, you’ll be waiting to hold a grandchild!”

”...Will you really be this obedient?” Mrs. Foster was surprised and happy, ”I don’t expect you to be filial to us, but as long as you find a good girlfriend, get married and have children, I’ll be satisfied.”

Edward Foster smiled and nodded, ”...Soon, shouldn’t be far off.”

If Lawrence Winters is truly moved by him, he wouldn’t drag out the romance, marrying her quickly is the right course!

On the other side of the phone, Mrs. Foster hung up and smiled at Gabriel Foster, saying: ”Gabriel, do you know what Edward just said?”

Gabriel Foster was having lunch with Mrs. Foster.

They were a bit busy today, eating a bit late, and it was a working meal.

Several secretaries were dining not far away.

Gabriel Foster smiled as he served her some food and asked, ”What did he say? Did he get me into trouble again? That little brat, sometimes it seems like he’s grown up, but then he turns around and slaps you in the face, showing you growing up is still far away!”

”Oh, what are you saying?! Edward is very obedient!” Mrs. Foster said softly, ”He just told me that he’s fallen for a girl and intends to marry her for real, not a celebrity! Just a nice girl who can live a proper life.”

Gabriel Foster seemed indifferent, ”We’ll see when he brings her back for us to meet, he won’t just take the marriage license quietly.”

For children in families like theirs, marriage isn’t as simple as getting a marriage license.

Pre-nuptial agreements have to be signed.

Mrs. Foster knew this too, but she said, ”I’m already very satisfied that Edward is willing to settle down and earnestly pursue a girl instead of mingling with celebrities. I’ve been on edge these years, anxious about him getting into trouble.”

”It won’t happen.” Gabriel Foster held her hand firmly and smiled at her.

Over the years, Mrs. Foster still couldn’t resist Gabriel Foster’s smile.

The handsome man who had once made her heart flutter at first sight now seemed even more charming than before.

After finishing lunch, Mrs. Foster left, and Gabriel Foster called in the secretaries and subordinates for a meeting.

The meeting went on until it was almost time to leave work in the afternoon.

Everyone left one after another, but Gabriel Foster’s secretary, Ella Zimmerman, couldn’t leave immediately.

She tidied up the meeting room while probing Gabriel Foster, who was still writing materials on the computer, ”Mr. Foster, is it true that Young Mr. Foster is getting married?”

Gabriel Foster glanced at her and said casually, ”No such thing, who did you hear that from?”

Ella Zimmerman looked around and whispered, ”Everyone’s talking about it... saying Madam wants Young Mr. Foster to get married soon and have a son...”

Gabriel Foster was silent for a moment, then pulled the corners of his mouth, ”Edward is not that old, men at this age can’t be certain even if they do get married.”

But after saying that, he frowned slightly, his tone indifferent but with some pressure, saying, ”Secretary Zhou, this is a family matter. You’re not my personal secretary, these matters don’t concern you.”

Ella Zimmerman was the secretary of the Foster Consortium’s president, handling matters related to the declaration to the securities commission.

Edward Foster’s marriage issues indeed have nothing to do with her.

Ella Zimmerman’s eyes dimmed slightly, and after a while, she nodded and said, ”Understood.”

After work in the evening, Ella Zimmerman wasn’t very hungry.

Sitting alone in her nearly two hundred square meters apartment, it was vacant and very quiet, but also very lonely.

She sat for a long time before picking up her phone and dialing a number.

”Hi Joan.”

The person who answered was Joan Lawson, she had just taken off her white coat, ready to go home after work.

Looking at this familiar but distant number, she felt a bit dazed, and somewhat panicked.

Joan Lawson reflexively closed the door to the medical office, leaned against the door panel, took a deep breath, and said, ”...Who is this?”

”It’s Ella, do you remember?” Ella Zimmerman smiled bitterly, ”I just wanted to ask you, is that child... doing well now?”

The person nodded instinctively, ”Good, very well, you don’t have to worry, he’s doing fine!”

”That’s good.” Ella Zimmerman rubbed her forehead, feeling a bit of a headache, ”By his age, he should have graduated from college, has he found a job? Does he have a girlfriend? Is he married? Having kids?”

Joan Lawson didn’t know which question to answer first due to the barrage of questions.

She calmed down and smiled warmly, ”You’ve always cared about him. Rest assured, he’s fine, graduated from college, found a job, not only has a girlfriend but is also about to get married.”

She had received the news not long ago, that child is now about to hold a wedding banquet.

Of course, these details, Ella Zimmerman didn’t need to know so extensively, they had an agreement.

”That’s good, I’ll send you some money, consider it my wedding gift.” Ella Zimmerman said as she transferred a million to the familiar account without hesitation.

”Has he bought a house? Where did he buy it? If the money is not enough, I still have some here.” Ella Zimmerman said generously.

Joan Lawson laughed and said, ”The house has been bought. If they want to change to a bigger house and need help, I’ll come find you.”

She didn’t go into too much detail, still saying that she didn’t want to get too entangled with Ella Zimmerman.

It’s best to leave the past buried in old paper stacks.

Isn’t everyone doing quite well now?

Why bring up those troublesome things from back then?

Joan Lawson now has her own family, career, and son, and doesn’t want anything to disturb these peaceful years.

After the call, Ella Zimmerman went to the balcony to smoke.

Amidst the swirling smoke, she made a decision that it was time to find someone to marry and settle down with.

She was really fed up with living alone.

...

Lawrence Winters spent the evening with Kenneth Osborne at the flat for dinner.

During the meal, she talked about Mad Sister’s situation, happily saying, ”Mad Sister had a son. Her parents and Granny Joyce are getting along well. With three people helping her with the baby, she should recover soon.”

Gabrielle Winters laughed and said, ”If you have a baby, we’ll have three people to help you too, right?”

She glanced at Nick Zeller.

Nick Zeller chuckled, ”Of course, that’s a given! — Right, Master?”

He teasingly nudged the old Daoist beside him.

The old Daoist focused on his meal, nonchalantly saying, ”What are you dreaming of? How old is my little disciple? It’s not good for her health to have a child too early.”

His last sentence was directed at Lawrence Winters.

Lawrence Winters blushed a little, ”I was talking about Mad Sister, how did it come back to me? But Master’s right, I’m only twenty, I don’t want kids so soon.”

She tilted her head to look at Kenneth Osborne, saying, ”What do you think, Kenneth?”

Kenneth Osborne nodded with a smile, correcting her, ”You’re almost twenty-one, but you’re right, we’re both still young, and don’t want children too early.”

”Why not? You can continue your careers, and both I and Lawrence’s mom will help!” Nick Zeller complained, feeling as if Kenneth Osborne was brushing him off.

Kenneth Osborne patiently explained, ”I’m still in the startup phase, often working late into the night, so I don’t have much time to take care of a child.”

He held Lawrence Winters’ hand and continued, ”Besides, Nora and I both think that if we have a child, we want to take care of it ourselves. It’s okay for Big Uncle and Mother-in-law to visit occasionally, but we can’t just leave the child with you and not care ourselves.”

Lawrence Winters nodded emphatically, ”Exactly, if we have one, we’ll definitely take care of it ourselves!”

She felt that the child she raised herself would be the closest.

Gabrielle Winters didn’t seem too pleased hearing this but didn’t say much.

Nick Zeller sighed, ”You all talk boldly now, but when you actually have a child, you’ll be crying and begging us to help.”

He scoffed, looking at Lawrence Winters, ”If that child were like you, you’d probably wish you could put it back and pretend it never happened. — You don’t know how troublesome you were as a kid!”

As a baby, it was common for Lawrence Winters to be hospitalized every few days, often running fevers that would make others cripplingly ill.

Of course, she survived, and not only survived but thrived.

”Big Uncle! Don’t hit people where it hurts! Don’t expose people’s shortcomings! Doesn’t your conscience hurt?” Lawrence Winters tapped her bowl with chopsticks, purposely frowning, just trying to make them laugh.

Gabrielle Winters indeed laughed, saying, ”Your Big Uncle is speaking the truth, don’t you like hearing the truth?”

Kenneth Osborne quickly mediated, ”Big Uncle, Mother-in-law, don’t worry, we will definitely live together by then. Although we don’t want you to be overworked, we’d appreciate having more people around to lend a hand when we’re overwhelmed.”

”Would you really be willing to move back in when Nora has a baby?” Gabrielle Winters was pleasantly surprised, ”That would be wonderful!”

If they could live together, why care who takes care of the baby?

Kenneth Osborne looked at Lawrence Winters.

Lawrence Winters quickly nodded along, ”Yes, yes! Definitely!”

She glanced at the old Daoist, who was still leisurely drinking soup without commenting.

Lawrence Winters coughed, having to directly ask, ”Master-grandfather, what do you think? I always feel you’re not too enthusiastic about my future baby.”

”We’ll see about that when it’s born. You’re overthinking it now.” The old Daoist raised his long white eyebrows high, satisfiedly sipping more soup.

Feeling a bit uncomfortable, Nick Zeller quickly changed the topic, ”Tomorrow’s the weekend. Should we drive out for a picnic?”

In the past, Lawrence Winters would have been the most excited at such a suggestion.

But this time, she shook her head, ”Big Uncle, you, Master-grandfather, and Mom go for a picnic. Kenneth and I have to work overtime this weekend.”

Kenneth Osborne glanced at her, thinking, why didn’t I know I had to work overtime this weekend?

But he didn’t expose Lawrence Winters and instead smiled, ”Yes, we have to work overtime this weekend.”
