Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 628: Chapter 334: Back in the Day, I Too Wore Fine Clothes and Rode a Valorous Horse (Part 3)

”The trees behind the mountain aren’t dense, nor are they tall forests; mostly they’re shrubs. Once the villas start being built, the back of the mountain will be turned into flowerbeds. By then, the hills will be covered in blooming flowers, adding to the charm. It’s impossible not to sell well!”

Nick Zeller couldn’t see any issue here.

At this moment, a tall, slender man stepped out from behind Mr. Ouyang, surprisingly wearing Daoist robes, looking more like a reclusive sage than Nick Zeller.

He stared at Nick Zeller and coldly sneered, ”Nick, the Great Heavenly Master sure knows how to joke. Where is this so-called Jade Belt and Gold Water Enclosure?!”

He raised his hand, the wide sleeves fluttering in the wind, pointing at the scenery ahead, ”Look closely! There’s someone preparing to build a bridge over there. As soon as the bridge spanning the river is completed, it’ll be like a drawn bow with an arrow pointing directly at our villa cluster here!”

”What Jade Belt and Gold Water Enclosure?! — It’s been pierced straight through; it can’t preserve wealth at all!”

Nick Zeller rolled his eyes, ”May I ask who you are?”

”I’m just a humble wanderer, not worthy of comparison to the renowned Great Heavenly Master!” The man clasped his hands behind his back, outright refusing to reveal his name.

Nick Zeller saw his reluctance and didn’t press further since what the other said made sense. He wouldn’t assuage doubts with personal attacks.

He simply turned around, pointed ahead, and said, ”That river isn’t wide; why build a bridge? Is your information accurate?”

”Of course it’s accurate. We’ve seen the permit ourselves.” Mr. Ouyang said sternly, ”Tell me, what should we do?!”

”But when I did the feng shui reading, was there a bridge permit there?” Nick Zeller had been doing feng shui readings for so many years; how could he have missed this?

He didn’t believe it.

The one calling himself a wandering Daoist snorted, ”Yes, you did the reading two weeks ago, and the bridge permit was approved a week ago.”

”Then there’s your answer!” Nick Zeller relaxed, spread his hands, and said, ”This isn’t my problem! No matter where you say it, it won’t make sense!”

”Not your problem? Aren’t you the so-called top successor of the Celestial Master Sect? How could you not foresee what’s going to happen a week later?” The wandering Daoist laughed, ”Don’t tell me you didn’t cast divinations at all. Is feng shui all about the present scene? If you can’t foresee ten or twenty years ahead, what are you even reading for?!”

In theory, feng shui indeed concerns the future ten, twenty, or even more years ahead.

But nearby events a week ahead are really not something one can necessarily calculate.

Of course, those especially skilled in divination can calculate it, as long as they think of doing it.

For example, Nick Zeller’s master, the old Daoist, whose greatest skill wasn’t feng shui but divination.

In terms of divination, Nick Zeller wasn’t as skilled as Lawrence Winters; his strength lay in geomantic formations.

Now being pressured, Nick Zeller just coldly snorted, ”For this kind of thing, you need to divine?”

He turned to Mr. Ouyang and politely said, ”Mr. Ouyang, don’t worry. Isn’t it just an inverted bow situation? No problem, we can build a mirror-like shield wall in front of the villa cluster to not only enhance security measures but also deflect the opposite bow and arrow from across the river!”

Mr. Ouyang’s anger slightly subsided. He glanced at the wandering Daoist and asked, ”Mr. You, what do you think?”

Nick Zeller’s lips twitched, thinking this guy really is named ”You.” Wondering which You he might be and if his real name might just be Brandon You?

While his mind wandered, he heard the wandering Daoist continue, ”Build a wall? Enclose this place? What about the back mountain? Do you know the permit for the back mountain has also been issued?”

The man pointed at the back mountain’s shrubs and said slowly.

Nick Zeller laughed, ”Oh, is this planned? There’s a permit for in front of the villa cluster, and now one for the back mountain! — Isn’t this trouble directed at Mr. Ouyang rather than me?!”

Mr. You, furious, pointed at him, ”Don’t slander me! — The back mountain belongs to the government. We just received the news that yesterday the governmental department issued a permit to build a cemetery there!”

Nick Zeller was suddenly dumbstruck, ”What?! A cemetery?! The back mountain?!”

Damn!

This is a massive issue!

If this were private land, they could still try to negotiate buying it at a high price.

For private individuals, there’s generally no problem that money can’t solve.

But for the government, once something is set in writing, changing it is not just about money.

Moreover, with something like a cemetery, even if a change were possible, once word gets out, who would want to buy a house here?

Looking out the back window to see a cemetery—how’s that appealing?

People would instinctively avoid looking at houses here.

So even if changes are made, there would be significant losses.

And looking at Mr. Ouyang’s stance, he was never in a position to get it changed.

Had that been possible, he wouldn’t be making trouble for Nick Zeller.

Nick Zeller blinked, cold sweat trickling down his back.

He realized he was facing the most difficult challenge of his over twenty-year professional career.
