Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 623: Chapter 333: You Don’t Blame Me for Neglecting You, Do You? (Second Update)

”Grandmaster, didn’t you say my mom and Uncle Nick would be back this afternoon? It’s almost six o’clock now...” Lawrence Winters was a bit worried.

She was planning to have dinner at home before leaving, but her mom and uncle hadn’t returned, and the old Daoist hadn’t cooked.

The old Daoist put away the chessboard and said nonchalantly, ”I was just guessing, I didn’t say they’d definitely be back this afternoon.”

”Grandmaster?! Didn’t you divine it?” Lawrence Winters thought the old Daoist had calculated the time.

She sent several messages, but Nick Zeller and Gabrielle Winters didn’t reply, and she couldn’t reach them by phone.

The old Daoist glared at her, ”For such trivial matters, you want to perform a divination? Is this what your master taught you?!”

”No, not really...” Lawrence Winters smiled sheepishly, ”Alright then, I have to work tomorrow, so I’ll head back now. If my mom and uncle return, can you send me a WeChat message? It’ll ease my mind.”

”Sure, no problem, I’ll send you a WeChat message then,” the old Daoist said with a grin, ”I won’t keep you for dinner; I’ll wait for your mom and uncle to get back before cooking.”

Lawrence Winters nodded quickly, ”Of course, I’ll leave now.”

She messaged Kenneth Osborne to come pick her up.

Kenneth Osborne replied: Already on the way.

Soon, Kenneth Osborne arrived; he came to the apartment to pick up Lawrence Winters and exchanged a few words with the old Daoist.

The old Daoist smiled at him, nodding, ”Be nice to Lawrence; she hasn’t had dinner. You should make her something tasty.”

”I plan to go back and make her charcoal-grilled short ribs, and the caviar I ordered has arrived. This is for you, Uncle Nick, and mother-in-law,” Kenneth Osborne placed a distinctly foreign-style tin box in front of the old Daoist, ”It’s great for dipping with bread.”

The old Daoist accepted the tin of caviar with a smile, ”Thank you.”

”No need to be polite, it’s the least we can do,” Kenneth Osborne said as he took Lawrence Winters’ hand.

Lawrence Winters was surprised, ”When did you order caviar? I didn’t know.”

Kenneth Osborne humorously replied, ”I didn’t know when you order takeout either.”

Lawrence Winters curled her lips and waved to the old Daoist.

The two headed toward the elevator.

The old Daoist watched them walk away, his smile fading.

He sighed, turned around, put the caviar tin in the refrigerator, and began to prepare dinner.

An hour later, just as he finished the last dish, there came the sound from the elevator again.

Nick Zeller’s loud voice called out, ”Master! Are you cooking? It smells amazing! Oh man! I’m starving!”

Gabrielle Winters also gently said, ”The master chef’s cooking is getting better and better; I could smell it as soon as I got off the elevator, it’s simply too fragrant.”

The old Daoist poked his head out of the kitchen, beaming, ”You’re back? Wash your hands, and we’ll start eating.”

He brought the dishes from the kitchen to the dining table.

Nick Zeller and Gabrielle Winters went to their rooms to wash their hands and changed into casual clothes before returning to the dining room.

The old Daoist said, ”Lawrence came back today, waited for you all day, and when you didn’t return, I told her to go home first.”

”Ah? Why didn’t you let her wait a bit longer?” Gabrielle Winters was a bit regretful, ”I haven’t seen Lawrence for two days.”

”It’s only two days; you’ll see her tomorrow,” Nick Zeller laughed, looking at the old Daoist, ”Master, I got a big deal this time!”

”A hundred acres of mountain land, to build villas, wow, just think, this is within the Imperial Citadel! Getting the land is amazing! — What a huge investment?! These two days have been exhausting, driving the off-road vehicle all over the mountain, and doing lots of hiking!”

Gabrielle Winters also said, ”Luckily, they’re only building at the foot and middle of the mountain. If it were at the top, we’d probably have been stuck there.”

”Yeah, the off-road vehicle can only go up to the middle of the mountain, beyond that you have to walk. And in areas densely forested, the vehicle couldn’t go; we had to walk,”

Nick Zeller added.

The old Daoist waved his hand, ”As long as it’s worth it to you, how much did you make from the deal?”

Nick Zeller held up one hand, flipping it once, ”This much.”

”What is ’this much’? A hundred, a thousand, or ten thousand?” The old Daoist rolled his eyes, ”Don’t play games with me!”

Nick Zeller chuckled, ”Eight figures!”

”... That much!” The old Daoist was surprised, ”Eight figures starting with what number?!”

”Of course, starting with a ’1’, what do you think? Barely reaching eight figures, but someone spoke up for me,” Nick Zeller scoffed, ”But I don’t care. If I can make money, why not? Nowadays, I’m a nationally renowned Great Heavenly Master, so of course, my appearance fees are getting higher and higher.”
