Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 608: Chapter 327: Getting Rich Together (Second Major Chapter)

Lawrence Winters was a bit taken aback but quickly recovered and said with a smile, ”Kenneth, with so many socialites and celebrities around you, don’t practice on me. Save those lines for them; maybe they’ll work a little.”

Edward Foster chuckled self-deprecatingly, ”You’ve caught me, but do you think it would have just a little effect? If I posted that on social media, do you think I wouldn’t have a bunch of women thinking it was meant for them?”

”Ha, I don’t believe there are so many foolish women,” Lawrence pouted. ”What’s the point of saying such lukewarm things?—If you’re bold enough, send a red envelope!”

”Kenneth, as the heir of a large conglomerate, you can’t just chase women like those penniless artsy types who only talk. You know how cheap that looks?”

”Who cares about your heart’s emotions? Just throw a huge red envelope over, and they’ll be all yours!”

Edward Foster: ”... What if they aren’t impressed?”

”Then you’ve got the wrong target, just switch immediately! In this vast world, Kenneth, you have people, money, and status, are you still afraid of not finding the right girl?” Lawrence said with great bravado.

Edward Foster: !!!

Damn it, misfired again!

If only I’d known, I’d have sent a big red envelope every day to serve as her morning alarm!

Edward thought angrily, but he also knew he was just venting his frustrations.

He knew Lawrence was money-minded, but he also knew that she wouldn’t take a penny that she shouldn’t have.

That’s the tricky part.

Otherwise, he’d have long used a ”financial assault” to win her over...

He said listlessly, ”Thanks, I don’t need anyone worrying about me chasing girls. By the way, I’ll pick you up at three in the afternoon for overtime, be punctual.”

”Sure, no problem.” Lawrence also planned to prepare properly so she could ”dissuade” those companies when they talked that night.

She was confident that the companies the producer found were definitely no match for Kenneth Osborne!

After hanging up, Edward Foster stewed for a while before going to the bathroom to freshen up, and then heading to the dining room for something to eat.

He needed to eat by three in the afternoon, and it was still not even noon, so he planned to eat something simple to fill his stomach.

Mrs. Foster was sitting in the dining room having brunch.

She seemed to have just woken up as well.

After Edward sat down, he said to the butler who came to greet him, ”Give me a light brunch, chicken breast will do, add a little less avocado, and more boiled eggs. And by the way, a cup of coffee, double the milk, and a serving of artificial sweetener.”

Mrs. Foster smiled, ”Hmm? Eating so little? Are you going out today?”

Edward usually stayed in his own bachelor apartment and only came back to the Foster Family’s estate on weekends to spend time with his parents.

Of course, spending time with his parents mainly meant eating a meal with them and sleeping at the estate at night.

During the day, he would often go out to have fun with friends.

Edward did have plans to go out in the afternoon, but not for leisure.

He explained earnestly, ”I have to go to the office for overtime this afternoon, and I might not be back until late, so don’t wait for me for dinner, Mom.”

”Oh, overtime again? What’s been keeping you busy lately?”

”It’s about the post-production of a film by Ace that hasn’t been finished; I need to hurry them up.”

As Edward spoke, the butler had already brought over the light brunch and coffee.

The meal prepared by a professional chef was not only perfect in taste, smell, and appearance, but also very healthy, with calories, carbohydrates, as well as sugar, fats, protein, and unsaturated acids all carefully calculated.

As Edward ate, Mrs. Foster curiously asked about the girl he was pursuing, ”... How’s your pursuit going? Even though work is busy, you should still take time to be with her, or the affection will fade.”

Edward forced a smile and said casually, ”Really, Mom, you’re pointing out everything awkward. I’m doing my best; she likes men who are dedicated to their work, so I’m going for overtime!”

”Oh? There’s also that reason?” Mrs. Foster’s eyes twinkled as she teased Edward, ”... Is she your colleague then?”

”Yes...” Edward answered offhandedly, then immediately realized his mistake and corrected himself right away, ”No! Why would I go for a colleague?! Proverbially, you don’t mess with someone close by!”

”Hmm, I feel like every word you say today is a flag. It seems you’re going to shoot yourself in the foot; it must be your colleague. Let me think, the colleagues at your company who aren’t female stars are just those young agents and office staff.”

Many of the directors and crew members were older, many married with families, hence, unlikely to be Edward Foster’s love interest.
