Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 626: Chapter 334: Back in the Day, I Too Wore Fine Clothes and Rode a Valorous Horse (First Update)

Nick Zeller was startled, didn’t bother to speak, and quickly tossed the Big Five Emperors Coins a few times.

Only when he realized there was no major issue did he breathe a sigh of relief and, with a smile, told the person angrily shouting on the other end of the phone, ”Boss Ouyang, don’t worry, I’ve checked everything properly, how could there be any issues? Why don’t you tell me in detail, and I’ll see what’s going on?”

”Damn you! How am I supposed to say it?! I’m not a storyteller! You come see for yourself! We just laid the foundation yesterday, come and see what kind of mess this is! If you don’t come, I’m not paying the post-construction balance!”

Nick Zeller understood from the tone that there seemed to be a problem when laying the foundation.

In the real estate business, Feng Shui is considered extremely important, especially for villa complexes in the suburbs. If the Feng Shui has issues, the investment is a total loss.

Nick calmed himself and said, ”Okay, no problem, I’ll come over tomorrow.”

Hearing that he was willing to come, the other party grunted, his tone softened, ”It’s good that Great Heavenly Master Zeller can come, we still trust you, as the foremost successor of the Celestial Master Sect of Celestial Path Sect, we trust your abilities. If the issue can be resolved tomorrow, we’ll pay the post-construction balance immediately!”

Gabrielle Winters, overhearing on the side, frowned and said, ”Really, encountering this kind of person again.”

Ever since Lawrence Winters went to university in Capital City, she quit her job at home and came to Capital City to help Nick look after his small office.

She served as the cashier, accountant, and assistant all by herself.

Over the past year, accompanying Nick to meet clients and check Feng Shui, she realized how challenging the years had been for Nick and Lawrence.

It’s not the first time they’ve encountered this kind of situation, but usually, there aren’t major issues, and the other party isn’t trying to avoid payment.

People in the business know that you can’t refuse to pay a Feng Shui Master’s bill.

However, the other party was quite dissatisfied, saying, ”Come over tonight, I’ll send someone to pick you up. We’ve moved the construction vehicles in, only to encounter such a mess! Waiting a night means losing a night’s worth of money!”

The main concern was the longer the delay, the worse the consequences?

Nick could understand the other party’s feelings, and he usually did readings of yang house Feng Shui at night.

If he went the next morning, he’d have to wait until the next night to conduct the reading.

So, back and forth, it would be two days.

Nick agreed to the request, ”I’ll drive myself there, no need for you to pick me up.”

”Alright, if I don’t see you in three hours, I’ll send someone to pick you up.” The other party didn’t say much more and hung up the phone decisively.

Nick began to pack his things, planning to make an overnight trip to the outskirts of Capital City.

Gabrielle was worried about him and said, ”I’ll go with you. In the middle of the night, it’s good to have some company.”

”No, it’s fine, I can go alone.” Nick declined with a smile, not wanting Gabrielle to stay up late.

However, Gabrielle insisted, ”If Lawrence were here, wouldn’t you take her along?”

Nick thought to himself, if Lawrence were here, he’d definitely take her along. She’s smart, witty, perceptive, and can handle herself in a fight, why wouldn’t he take her?

But Gabrielle, well, she’s not unqualified either, at the very least, having one more person does add to the presence.

He nodded, ”If you want to come, then come. But I’m worried they may have dug up something ominous, so just stay in the car and don’t follow me up the mountain.”

Gabrielle laughed, ”I’m not a child anymore, don’t worry, I won’t cause trouble.”

As they chatted, they packed their bags together and bid farewell to the old Daoist, mentioning that they had an urgent matter to attend to that night.

The old Daoist walked over, silently slipped an amulet into Nick’s inside shirt pocket, and said, ”Be careful.”

”Don’t worry, those things can’t harm me. I am the orthodox successor of the Celestial Master Sect and am blessed by the ancestors of the Three Pure Ones,” Nick said confidently.

He and Gabrielle hurriedly headed towards the elevator.

The old Daoist watched their backs, his expression turning somber.

He sighed, shook his head, gestured, and started singing his revised version of ”The Locklin Bag.”

”...I just thought my wealth was cast in iron for life, yet who knew fortune and misfortune would become clear in an instant; I used to ride in fine clothes and horses, but now willingly accept a bamboo staff and straw sandals.”

”This too is a lesson from heaven, teaching me to let go of grudges, avoid resentment, renew myself, and change my disposition. Do not cling to fleeting water, withdraw from the bitter sea, and awaken early to the deep-underlying cause.”

As his voice lingered, Nick and Gabrielle took the elevator to the underground parking garage.

The two of them got into Nick’s Grand Cherokee, accelerated, and sped towards the outskirts.
