Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 622: Chapter 332: Seeing You Brightens My Mood

He quickly got into his car and followed along.

Luckily, there was a speed limit on the road outside, so Lawrence Winters couldn’t drive too fast, and Edward Foster soon spotted her car.

He didn’t drive too fast either and maintained a reasonable distance, following along until Lawrence Winters arrived at a moderately priced residential area.

Edward Foster memorized the address, parked his car by the roadside, and smoked a cigarette while waiting for Lawrence Winters to message him.

Once Lawrence sent him a WeChat message saying ”I’m home,” he smiled and replied, ”Goodnight.”

Throwing the cigarette butt into the roadside trash can, Edward Foster drove away.

When Lawrence Winters got home, Kenneth Osborne was still in the study talking on the phone with Spring Spencer.

As soon as she entered the house, the delivery she ordered arrived.

Lawrence Winters casually brought the takeout inside.

She called out loudly in the living room, ”Kenneth! I’m back! And I brought your favorite late-night snack!”

Kenneth Osborne was engrossed in listening to Spring Spencer talk about various news in investment and film circles, learning a lot, and lost track of time.

Hearing Lawrence call out, he quickly apologized to Spring, saying, ”Sorry, Spring, for taking up so much of your time. Let’s chat again when we’re free.”

”Alright, let’s chat later,” Spring Spencer said over the phone. She heard Lawrence’s voice but tactfully refrained from asking questions and ended the call.

Sitting in her office, Spring Spencer didn’t rush home but instead opened her computer and started on a proposal she planned to send to Kenneth Osborne.

Meanwhile, Lawrence laid out the takeout on the dining table, and as soon as she turned her head, Kenneth Osborne came over, hugged her waist, and kissed her cheek, ”Thanks, babe.”

”Hey, don’t call me babe, it makes me sound old. Besides, we haven’t even had our wedding ceremony, so you’re not qualified to call me that yet,” Lawrence dodged Kenneth, laughing, ”And... you should really shave.”

Kenneth had a slight ”five o’clock shadow” on his chin.

”I’ll tickle you with it, let’s see where you can hide,” Kenneth laughed and teased her for a while before sitting down at the dining table.

Since lunchtime, he had only had some thick omelette toast and nothing else.

Lawrence, being considerate, ordered a lot of hearty dishes for him, like peeled salted prawns, shiny braised pork belly, an order costing dozens for only two pieces, so Lawrence bought eight orders at once, totaling sixteen pieces of braised pork belly. Plus, there were stir-fried chili pepper pork, aromatic green peppers and eggs fried in lard, and a box of lotus root and rib stew.

The rice was the famous Wuchang rice from the north, costing eight bucks for less than an ounce in a small bowl.

All were Kenneth Osborne’s favorite dishes.

Feeling even hungrier, he immediately sat down and started to eat with his chopsticks.

Lawrence had lunch with Edward Foster at four in the afternoon, but now it was already nine, and she was also hungry.

She served herself a small half-bowl of Wuchang rice and started picking meat shreds from the chili pepper pork.

After searching for a long time, she saw only a few pieces of meat and sighed, ”What’s up with this chili pepper pork? Where’s the meat? It’s all peppers.”

Kenneth laughed, ”That’s why it’s called chili pepper pork, not pork with a few chili peppers.”

His joke made Lawrence laugh, ”You’re in a good mood today, Kenneth!”

”Seeing you brightens my mood,” Kenneth said, placing a salted prawn onto her plate, ”Eat more, it’s high in protein.”

Lawrence ate happily.

After the meal, there was no need to clean the kitchen; they just tossed all the utensils in the trash and wiped the table.

After a long day, the two of them took a shower and went to bed together.

The next day was Sunday. When Lawrence woke up in the morning, she found that Kenneth was not there again.

Thinking he was in the study, she went back to sleep for a while.

When she woke up again, it was already noon.

Kenneth called, ”Nora, are you up yet?”

Lawrence: ”...”

”Just got up,” she giggled, throwing off the covers and getting out of bed, planning to greet Kenneth in the study.

She expected that Kenneth was calling from the study.

When she got to the study door, she realized she was mistaken—Kenneth was not in the study.

She moved to the kitchen, which was also empty, not to mention the dining room and living room; all were deserted.

”Kenneth, where are you?” Lawrence rubbed her temples, ”Are you out buying food?”

”Always thinking about food,” Kenneth chuckled softly, ”I’m working overtime at the office. I made you some century egg and lean meat congee and a salad with bacon and boiled eggs. Be sure to eat it.”

”You’re working on a Sunday too!” Lawrence clicked her tongue twice, ”Being a boss is not easy! I won’t complain about my boss anymore!”

”I’m the one working overtime, not your boss. Why can’t you complain about him? You’re attributing my hard work to someone else,” Kenneth said with a wry smile.

”Since when did you become so picky, Kenneth?” Lawrence said, heading to the bathroom for her routine, ”I’m going to wash up now. See you after work.”

”Alright, be sure to eat well,” Kenneth said and hung up.

After tidying up, Lawrence went back to the bedroom to change.

Sitting alone in the dining room eating felt a bit awkward.

Since childhood, she was always around family, almost never eating alone.

She started to miss her mom, uncle, and the old Daoist.

With Kenneth working overtime today, she decided to ”go home” and visit them.

Since Kenneth had taken the car, she had to hail a taxi.

The outcome of the spontaneous ”home visit” was finding that neither her mom nor her uncle was home, leaving only the old Daoist tinkering with chess pieces in the living room.

”Great Grandmaster, are you home alone? Did my mom and uncle go out shopping?” Lawrence asked as she sat across from the old Daoist.

The old Daoist frowned, deep in thought over the chessboard, ”They took a job, went to the suburbs to check out a site early yesterday morning.”

Lawrence made a sound of acknowledgment but felt puzzled, ”What kind of site takes two days to view?”

As the old Daoist moved his pieces, he said, ”There’s a big resort center planned for the suburbs, and it’s a large area. They should be back this afternoon.”

Lawrence waited until evening, and even after Kenneth called to ask where she was, Nick and Gabrielle hadn’t returned home.
