Chapter 1151: Chapter 1152 I Absolutely Won’t Compete with You

Gong Juechen was beaten all over and it hurt, but he still crouched there. However, he no longer protected his head with his arms; instead, he looked up with a teasing smile at Ye Zhi, ”Zhizhi, calmed down yet?”

Ye Zhi kind of wanted to hit Gong Juechen again.

”If you get angry in the future, just hit me, I’m not afraid,” Gong Juechen said with another teasing smile.

Ye Zhi: ”...”

An Jing: ”...” Does this guy actually have masochistic tendencies?

Xiao Changyi didn’t even look at Gong Juechen anymore, just served the soup he had cooked into a bowl.

Ye Zhi also fell silent, feeling like it was a complete waste of energy to hit someone. This guy clearly didn’t fear being beaten, but every time she couldn’t hold back the urge to give him a good thrashing.

But after hitting him, every word he said would make her feel even more frustrated.

... How can such people exist in this world?!

Ye Zhi found it utterly incomprehensible.

She didn’t bother to understand anymore and, ignoring Gong Juechen, she walked over to the stove. First, she checked out the dish An Jing was frying and then said expectantly, ”Boss, those pickled pepper chicken feet I mentioned to you earlier, please make them for me, make them please.”

Before An Jing could reply, Gong Juechen rose and came over, pretending to care for Ye Zhi’s interests as he said to her, ”Zhizhi, chicken feet aren’t tasty, you should avoid eating them.”

Ye Zhi originally didn’t want to bother with Gong Juechen, but for some reason, as soon as he finished speaking, she glared at him sideways and couldn’t help but retort, ”When they’re ready, if you dare to fight me for them, I’ll chop off your hands.”

Gong Juechen immediately responded with a playful smile, ”Don’t worry, I never eat chicken feet when I eat chicken, I definitely won’t fight you for them.”

After a pause, Gong Juechen’s expression and tone turned especially pitiful and resentful, ”Even if I wanted to compete, I couldn’t win against you; your fists are so much harder than mine.”

Ye Zhi: ”...”

”...” An Jing remained silent for a moment and then spoke up, ”Ye Zi, I can make the pickled pepper chicken feet for you, but I can’t have them ready immediately; you’ll have to wait until tomorrow night to eat them.”

Upon hearing that they would be made, Ye Zhi was delighted, ”No problem, no problem, I can even wait until the day after tomorrow night, as long as you let me have some. I’ve been craving them recently, really wanting to eat them.”

...

The next evening, An Jing, Xiao Changyi, the four kids, Ye Zhi, and Gong Juechen all ate together.

There was a big plate of pickled pepper chicken feet on the table, the chicken feet were plump and as white as jade, arranged in the dish with a few soaked peppers as garnish, covered in sauce below—it did look quite appetizing.

Ye Zhi enjoyed them immensely.

An Jing and Xiao Changyi also really liked them.

However, the four kids found them too spicy, took a bite and then stopped eating.

Gong Juechen never liked chicken feet, but now, seeing Ye Zhi, An Jing, and Xiao Changyi enjoying them so much, and considering the chicken feet did look very appetizing, he couldn’t help but reach his chopsticks out towards the plate of pickled pepper chicken feet.

Upon seeing this, Ye Zhi immediately swatted his chopsticks away, ”Didn’t you say you wouldn’t fight me for them?”

Gong Juechen looked innocent and replied, ”I’m not fighting with you; I just want to try one, to see how it tastes. Seeing how much you all are enjoying them, I’ve become really curious about the taste of these pickled pepper chicken feet.”

Ye Zhi gave him a sidelong glance but didn’t bother with him anymore.

Gong Juechen then picked up a chicken foot and began to eat. With one bite, his peach blossom eyes lit up; the sour and spicy taste was potent, stimulating salivation, and the skin was chewy with a fragrant meaty flavor... It was delicious!

And so, that chicken foot was quickly gnawed clean by Gong Juechen.
