Chapter 1160: Chapter 1161: No Matter How Long It Takes

Ye Zhi ignored Gong Juechen and instead said to An Jing, ”Boss, then I’m heading out to look for something suitable for me to do.”

”Mm.”

As soon as An Jing answered, Ye Zhi turned and started walking away. Gong Juechen hastily followed.

Watching Gong Juechen chase after Ye Zhi, An Jing just helplessly smiled and shook her head.

”Zhizhi, what kind of suitable work are you looking for?” Gong Juechen asked as he followed Ye Zhi.

Over these days, Ye Zhi had gotten used to Gong Juechen always following her, so she continued walking without a word.

Gong Juechen wasn’t annoyed and asked again, ”Why are you looking for work to do? Isn’t it quite nice as it is?”

Finally, Ye Zhi spoke, sounding quite irritated, ”I want to make money.”

”Money? I have it, I’ll give you some,” said Gong Juechen, particularly happy. ”How much do you want?”

”Scram. I want to earn my own. I want to support myself with my own two hands.”

Upon hearing this, Gong Juechen said immediately, ”Then I’ll give you a money-earning job. How about managing my money? I’ll pay you a salary. If I don’t pay you, you can just use that money; anyway, my money will be yours sooner or later.”

Ye Zhi was puzzled, ”Why would your money be mine sooner or later?”

”You’ve already given yourself to me, aren’t we going to get married? After we marry, of course, everything I own will be yours,” Gong Juechen said as if it were a matter of course.

Ye Zhi glanced sideways in an instant, ”Do you believe I’ll really throw you into a manure pit?”

”I believe it.” As he said this, Gong Juechen hopped back three steps, feeling that he was at a safe distance, and then said, seeming quite reasonable, ”I know that you can’t accept the fact of marrying me for now, but I will wait, you can take your time to accept it. When you do, we can get married, okay?”

”Over my dead body!” Ye Zhi was very aggravated, but she didn’t want to argue with Gong Juechen, this idiot. ”Forget it, I might as well throw you into a manure pit, see if you can still spout nonsense!” With that, Ye Zhi truly considered taking action.

Gong Juechen had anticipated Ye Zhi would react this way, so he quickly turned and ran off, shouting as he ran, ”Zhizhi, I really will wait, no matter how long it takes.”

Ye Zhi chased him for a few steps, then seeing she couldn’t catch up, she stopped chasing and turned around, continuing towards the direction of Prince Yi’s Mansion’s main gate.

Probably because she had gotten used to Gong Juechen’s infuriating ways, she now found herself quickly getting angry but also cooling off just as fast.

Nevertheless, she really, really disliked Gong Juechen.

Once out of Prince Yi’s Mansion, Ye Zhi started to look for a suitable job on the streets of the Imperial Capital City.

However, because she was a woman, even if some shops needed to hire workers, no one was willing to hire her.

It turned out there was an Embroidery Building in need of a female worker to do odd jobs, explaining that since the Embroidery Building was full of women, having men around was inconvenient and would cast a poor light, so they preferred a woman for odd jobs.

Ye Zhi thought that jobs were really hard to find and that she had finally come across one, even if it was just an odd job, she’d take it. She would start by earning enough to support herself.

However, the owner of the Embroidery Building mentioned that the Imperial Capital was under martial law, and they couldn’t hire Ye Zhi right away, fearing trouble. They asked her to come back and work at the Embroidery Building after the New Emperor’s ascension.

Today was already the third day of the tenth month, and the New Emperor’s ascension was set for the sixth. With just two days remaining, Ye Zhi felt she could wait and agreed.

Upon returning to Prince Yi’s Mansion, Ye Zhi told An Jing about her plans to work odd jobs at the Embroidery Building.

Yet An Jing didn’t want Ye Zhi to do odd jobs.
