Chapter 1172: Chapter 1173: This Is What It Means to Ruthlessly Destroy Flowers!

When An Jing arrived at the General’s residence, Gong Juese was teaching her and Meng Lanqing’s little son, just over a year old, how to walk.

It’s no wonder Gong Juechen always says his nephew is chubby; the child really is plump and cute. Besides, because of his chubbiness, Gong Juechen even gave him a nickname, calling him Dumpling.

Both Gong Juese and Meng Lanqing felt the nickname Dumpling was quite good, and the word ”Dumpling” could also signify togetherness. Therefore, Dumpling became their son’s nickname.

Before addressing the serious matters, An Jing played with little Dumpling and then spoke to Gong Juese about official business.

When she heard that she was asked to help compete against a General, Gong Juese agreed immediately: ”Don’t worry, leave that General Xu to me, I’ll make sure he’s beaten soundly.”

Seeing Gong Juese’s straightforwardness, An Jing laughed heartily: ”Once the time for the match is set, I’ll let you know, and then you can just go and compete.”

”Sure thing!” Gong Juese was still exceptionally straightforward and decisive.

Upon returning from the General’s residence, An Jing ran into Ye Zhi, who seemed lost in search of something.

”Ye Zi, perfect timing, I was looking for you,” An Jing grabbed Ye Zhi, who was looking for something uncertain.

Ye Zhi did not ask An Jing what she wanted, but instead looked around irritably and asked, ”Have you seen Gong Juechen? The bastard poisoned all the flowers in my yard. What they call ’a ruthless hand that destroys flowers’ - that’s exactly what he did!”

An Jing asked: ”What on earth did he touch the flowers in your yard for?”

”He said he had a way to make the flowers in my yard look even prettier, and I agreed to let him do it. Who knew he mixed up the powders and poisoned all my flowers. You didn’t see it; the colorful flowers and leaves all blackened by his poison, turning my yard into a mournful place. Dammit, it really infuriates me!”

Catching her breath, Ye Zhi continued cursing: ”That guy is really good at hiding. As soon as he ran, I followed, but I still lost him. It’s always like this! Really!”

”Alright, don’t be angry. I’ve got some good news for you,” said An Jing with a smile to soothe her, urging Ye Zhi not to be angry.

”What good news?”

”It’s about the women joining the army, Chengyu agreed.”

”Really?!” Ye Zhi instantly felt better, her spirits lifted from the annoyance Gong Juechen had caused.

”Really.” An Jing nodded, ”We just need to find three women to compete against three Generals, and if we all win, it’ll make things easier. My husband and I have discussed it, it will be me, you, and Se Se.”

Excited by the mention of competing, Ye Zhi’s eyes lit up, but then she drooped: ”Am I really up to it?”

This isn’t the modern era; the competition is truly hand-to-hand combat with swords. She could handle close combat, but not much else.

As An Jing pulled Ye Zhi towards the main courtyard, she comforted her: ”My husband said he would share the weaknesses of the Generals we’ll be competing against. Unless it’s unexpected, we should be able to win.”

Ye Zhi still felt somewhat disheartened: ”I’m still not very confident.” Competing in something she wasn’t good at, it would be strange if she felt confident.

An Jing reassured: ”My husband plans for you to compete with General Qi Tengfei of the Leopard Camp. General Qi is skilled at unarmed combat. So when you compete, it’ll be similar to close combat, and knowing his weakness, you really have a great chance of winning.”

Hearing this from An Jing, Ye Zhi’s confidence surged instantly.
