Chapter 1168: Chapter 1169: Since Ancient Times, Men Strong Women Weak

An Jing simply leaned there, smiling as she watched Xiao Changyi close the door, and then smiling as she watched him walk back.

Until Xiao Changyi came back to her side and sat down, then she teased, ”Still up for a kiss?”

Xiao Changyi didn’t respond, directly kissing her.

After the kiss, An Jing said, ”Tomorrow, you also help speak on the matter. It’s a bit difficult to realize, and if we truly can’t accomplish it, we’ll settle for the next best thing. I want to use my training methods to train a few people, I’ve mentioned this to you the other day, you should understand what I mean.”

”Okay.”

...

The following day, An Jing and Xiao Changyi entered the palace.

Su Haoyu originally planned to move to Prince Yi’s Mansion after abdicating but considering that Gong Juechen was still staying there, he decided against it, continuing to reside within the palace.

Just not in Jun Palace anymore.

Jun Palace is now where Su Chengyu, the New Emperor, resides.

Upon entering the palace, An Jing and Xiao Changyi went to find Su Chengyu, but he was discussing affairs with his ministers in the Imperial Study Room, so they did not disturb him, instead turning to visit Su Haoyu, their adoptive father.

After speaking with Su Haoyu, An Jing and Xiao Changyi returned to the Imperial Study Room to find Su Chengyu.

Su Chengyu had completed discussing affairs with the ministers and was reviewing documents when he heard that An Jing and Xiao Changyi had come, he immediately invited them in.

”Brother Yi, Sister-in-law,” said Su Chengyu putting down the ink pen and rising from the Dragon Chair to greet them.

An Jing smiled and said, ”You’re now the ruler of a country, why are you still so informal when you see us?”

Su Chengyu replied with a smile, ”Even as the ruler of a country, am I not still your younger brother?”

And with that, Su Chengyu invited An Jing and Xiao Changyi to sit down with him.

In truth, compared to before, Su Chengyu had become steadier and more composed.

The Su Chengyu of the past, although well-suited to be Emperor, didn’t quite embody the current Su Chengyu, who is now the Emperor – even if his demeanor towards An Jing and Xiao Changyi was somewhat informal, it still conveyed an imperial majesty that commanded respect.

Only after the Palace Attendant brought tea did Su Chengyu ask, ”Brother Yi, Sister-in-law, what brings you to the palace today? Do you have business with me?”

Ever since his accession, Su Chengyu had not referred to An Jing and Xiao Changyi using ’We’ as Emperors traditionally do, instead he continued to use the familiar and informal ’I’, just as before.

An Jing and Xiao Changyi both knew that Su Chengyu genuinely cared for them, that even with him now as Emperor, their relationship would not change; they were still family. And for Su Chengyu to still refer to himself in such a way before them, although An Jing and Xiao Changyi did not say anything, they were both very pleased at heart.

This way, it really felt much more intimate.

”We do have business with you,” An Jing said with a smile. However, she didn’t elaborate, instead turning to look at Xiao Changyi.

Xiao Changyi then spoke, ”Men and women are different, but loyalty to the country does not differentiate between genders. You could boldly pioneer for the world, allowing women to join the army alongside men, to serve the country.”

Upon hearing this, Su Chengyu furrowed his brows. After a long silence, he said, ”Brother Yi, although your words are true, historically, men have been strong and women weak; it’s naturally determined. How can you have them join the army and fight the enemy? It’s quite inappropriate.”

An Jing responded, ”Not all women are frail; some are stronger than certain men.”

Su Chengyu said, ”That’s still the minority. Compared to joining the army and fighting the enemy, most women are better suited to managing the household and raising children.”

An Jing knew this to be the case.
