Chapter 1162: Chapter 1163: Local Tyrant

But Ye Zhi refused to go with Gong Juechen, flinging his hand away and even asked irritably, ”Why are you here? Did my boss tell you to come?”

”It wasn’t Jingjing who told me. I followed you. Because you wouldn’t tell me where you went during the day,” Gong Juechen said with righteous indignation, not feeling he had done anything wrong.

Being stalked, especially by someone she deeply despised, really made Ye Zhi feel uncomfortable. However, before she could speak, Gong Juechen continued, ”Zhizhi, this isn’t the kind of work you should be doing. Come, go back with me.”

Saying so, Gong Juechen tried to pull Ye Zhi away again.

But before Gong Juechen could grab Ye Zhi, she stopped him with the laundry stick in her hand that she was pointing towards him as if she wouldn’t hesitate to use it if he tried to touch her again. She said even more irritably, ”Gong Juechen, mind your own business. If you disrupt my work again, see if I don’t deal with you.”

”Zhizhi...” Gong Juechen looked at Ye Zhi with a particularly aggrieved expression.

Ye Zhi couldn’t care less about him; she just sat back down on the small stool and started washing clothes again. She still had so many clothes to wash; she had no time to idle away talking to him.

”Zhizhi,” Gong Juechen squatting beside her, ”you’re doing this job just to earn money, right? I will give you all my money, please don’t do this job, okay?”

”No.” Ye Zhi refused him bluntly without even looking his way as she continued doing the laundry. ”I have my own capable hands and feet, why would I need your money? Besides, I really dislike you. If I took your money, it would make me feel sick inside. Just leave, seeing you makes me in a bad mood.”

”Zhizhi...” At this moment, Gong Juechen really felt miserable.

It was then that the owner of the Embroidery Building arrived. This owner was a woman in her thirties, and she had rushed out from the Accounting Room after hearing from the gatekeeping Young Servant that a man had barged in.

”Who are you? Why did you barge into my Embroidery Building?” the owner asked upon seeing Gong Juechen.

Pointing at Ye Zhi, Gong Juechen told the owner, ”She is my fiancée, not yet married. I came to see her.”

Even though she didn’t care much about her own reputation, having it ruined like this...

Ye Zhi got so angry she lifted her foot to fiercely kick Gong Juechen, but he quickly stood up and dodged.

Before Ye Zhi could explain to the Embroidery Building owner that she wasn’t Gong Juechen’s fiancée, she saw Gong Juechen pull out a silver note worth one thousand taels from his bosom and give it to the Embroidery Building owner.

”This is one thousand taels, enough for you to hire many laundry workers. I only have one request, do not employ my Zhizhi here. She is having a spat with me, insists on coming out to tire herself, and it pains my heart. I can’t coax her well, and this is the only thing I can do,” Gong Juechen said with an ’I am wealthy and helpless with Ye Zhi’ expression.

Ye Zhi: ”...”

The Embroidery Building owner was initially stunned, then thinking of the number of laundry workers she could hire for one thousand taels, she intended to accept the silver note from Gong Juechen and stop employing Ye Zhi.

But before her hand could touch the silver note, Ye Zhi snatched it and harshly threw it at Gong Juechen’s face.

”I earn half a tael a month, and you give her one thousand taels?! You’re insane!” After cursing, Ye Zhi left.

What else could she do but leave? Stay and continue to watch Gong Juechen use money to influence the Embroidery Building owner to fire her?!
