Chapter 1188: Chapter 1189: Leaving You Behind, Suffocating You

”This is just the first day, don’t be anxious,” An Jing whispered to Ye Zhi.

In An Jing’s view, it was impossible that all women in Xiyun had already accepted their status; there would always be some women discontent and wanting to serve the country like men.

If indeed all women had accepted their current status, and there was not a single woman aspiring to serve the country like men, then she would just accept it as if this attempt had never happened.

Just she and Ye Zhi joining the military would be enough.

And from then on, she wouldn’t interfere with the matter of enhancing women’s status anymore. She had given the opportunity, but no one cherished it; why should she bother anymore and distress herself?!

On the first day of recruiting female soldiers, An Jing and Ye Zhi didn’t recruit anyone.

When returning to Prince Yi’s Mansion, An Jing said to Xiao Changyi, ”My lord, if we fail to recruit any female soldier, it doesn’t matter, you are so capable, if there really is a war, you can take me to battle without being blamed.”

Xiao Changyi tightened the fingers interlocked with hers and softly affirmed, ”Mhm.”

”Boss, if brother-in-law takes you, then you take me along,” Ye Zhi said with special excitement.

”I won’t take you, let you choke to death,” An Jing deliberately said.

Ye Zhi immediately showed dissatisfaction, with particular grievance, ”How can you do this?”

An Jing said, ”It’s for your own good, you can’t even ride a horse, maybe you’ll get trampled to death on the battlefield.”

”I’m already planning to learn horse riding, you’ve got to give me some time.”

”Then wait until the day you learn how to ride a horse, then come talk to me about this.”

They chatted all the way back to Prince Yi’s Mansion.

Seeing that night was approaching, An Jing asked Ye Zhi to have dinner together in the main courtyard, and Ye Zhi agreed.

Upon entering the main courtyard, An Jing saw her four little ones sitting on the steps eating candied hawthorns.

”Daddy, Mommy, Auntie,” the four little ones exclaimed upon seeing An Jing, immediately got up, and ran towards them with their short legs happily, still holding their candied hawthorns.

An Jing instinctively picked up the little An Yiyun who ran towards her.

Once picked up, little An Yiyun stretched the candied hawthorn towards An Jing’s mouth with special delight, and in a sweet milky voice said, ”Mommy, eat candied hawthorn, eat candied hawthorn.”

An Jing instinctively ate one, then smilingly asked, ”Where did you get these candied hawthorns?”

Before the little An Yiyun could answer, the little An Yiqing, who was hugging Xiao Changyi’s left leg, looked up with a smile and said, ”Uncle Chenchen gave it, and he has another one, said it was for Auntie, not for us.”

Ye Zhi, who was holding Su Yixing’s hand, heard An Yiqing’s words and hummed, ”I’m not a child, why should I eat candied hawthorn?”

Su Yi Jing, who was hugging Xiao Changyi’s right leg, hearing Ye Zhi’s words, tugged at her with his little hands while licking his candied hawthorn, and in a mature, milky voice told Ye Zhi, ”Auntie, Uncle Chenchen said that this candied hawthorn was specifically bought for you, that’s why we got ours too.”

Ye Zhi laughed, ”Your uncle is full of lies, don’t believe him. It’s definitely just him seeing candied hawthorn being sold on his way back and buying it casually.”

Su Yixing nodded his little head and said, ”Auntie, Uncle Chenchen really went out and took a long time to come back, he said a lot of pretty sisters were keeping him, that’s why he returned so late.”

Ye Zhi found it amusing. She didn’t really want to know where Gong Juechen had been. As long as that man didn’t pester her, she couldn’t care less where he went.
