Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1181: Chapter 1182: Led by Princess Yi

The Civil Officials also knelt down and, together with the Generals, loudly proclaimed: ”The Emperor is wise!”

Su Chengyu continued, ”As long as one has the capability and can serve Xiyun, I do not care whether they are male or female.” After a pause, he added, ”From now on, the promotion system will also be the same; the capable shall rise, and the mediocre shall fall.”

At this moment, Su Chengyu’s advocacy for meritocracy was formally presented, soon to be declared to the whole world.

Su Haoyu sat there, looking at the son he had wholeheartedly nurtured, feeling extremely gratified. His Yi Er was right—this son of his would far surpass him as an Emperor.

That vision, that courage to lead the way for the world, he truly could not match.

The kneeling people bowed again, even Ye Zhi and others kneeled down, loudly proclaiming: ”The Emperor is wise!”

Su Chengyu continued, ”Immediately issue a royal decree to inform Xiyun that capable women can join the army and serve Xiyun.”

After another pause, Su Chengyu said, ”Princess Yi is skilled in both literature and martial arts, hence the matter of women joining the army shall be entrusted to Princess Yi. Starting today, Princess Yi will resign from the position of Minister of Public Works and take up the post of Minister of War. I hope Princess Yi takes good care of this matter and does not disappoint my expectations.”

An Jing immediately stood up, solemnly bowed to Su Chengyu and said, ”Your servant obeys the decree, and will do my utmost to not let the Emperor down.”

Upon leaving the training ground, instead of letting An Jing and Xiao Changyi go, Su Chengyu had An Jing and Xiao Changyi join him and Su Haoyu for lunch.

As for Gong Juese, Ye Zhi, and others, they left the palace.

Before leaving the training ground, Su Haoyu discreetly took another look at his daughter Gong Juese.

Once Ye Zhi left the palace, she went straight back to Prince Yi’s Mansion.

Now her entire body ached.

Qi Tengfei truly did not hold back during the bout; that throw really made her feel like her bones had shifted, and it hurt intensely. But fortunately, she won.

Before the carriage even reached Prince Yi’s Mansion, she heard Gong Juechen’s voice.

”Zhizhi, are you alright, Zhizhi?” Because of Gong Juechen’s intervention, the carriage stopped, and before Ye Zhi could poke her head out, Gong Juechen hurriedly pulled back the carriage curtain to check on her.

Even though she knew that Gong Juechen was primarily attracted to her looks, being cared for in this way still warmed Ye Zhi’s heart.

”It’s nothing, just a bit tired.” Seeing that Prince Yi’s Mansion was only about twenty steps ahead, Ye Zhi did not continue to sit in the carriage, but instead got out.

And, because of the motion of getting out of the carriage, her already sore body felt like her bones were being rearranged, making her sharply inhale a breath of cold air in pain.

It really hurt.

Now, she just wanted to lie down and do nothing, motionless.

Hearing Ye Zhi gasp, Gong Juechen immediately tensed and urgently asked, ”Didn’t you say you were fine? Why does it still hurt so much? Where is the injury? Tell me quick, I’ll treat you!”

Seeing Gong Juechen so worried and anxious, Ye Zhi’s feelings were mixed, and weakly, she told the truth, ”I’m not injured, just sore from the fight. I’ll be fine after a couple of days of rest.”

Saying this, Ye Zhi ignored Gong Juechen and walked straight towards Prince Yi’s Mansion.

Gong Juechen quickly followed while also sighing in relief. Honestly, he had been very worried that she might be harmed.

Her skills were sufficient against ordinary people, but facing a battle-hardened general... He had been worried for her ever since she left the house.

Being stalked was something Ye Zhi had gotten used to, so she didn’t mind Gong Juechen following her.
