Chapter 1180: Chapter 1181: Change of View

Ye Zhi saw the person kicked down by her, which meant she won. She was very happy but suppressed her joy and walked to the edge of the competition field, addressing Qi Tengfei below, ”General Qi, thanks for letting me win!”

Qi Tengfei did not let Ye Zhi win.

During a competition, naturally, one targets the opponent’s weaknesses, and Qi Tengfei did not feel that Ye Zhi aiming for his vulnerable underarm was an unfair victory.

And him, a strong man, competing against a weak woman, initially made him feel ashamed, but not so after the match.

Few people could target his underarms, and that Ye Zhi could do so was a testament to her skill.

Below, Qi Tengfei cupped his fists, looking up at Ye Zhi and said in a loud and clear voice, ”I did not let you win. Losing means losing, and since I’m down here, it means I lost.”

Hearing Qi Tengfei’s words, Ye Zhi, An Jing, and others greatly admired him.

The masculine honor and openness in the military camp are truly incomparable to some men outside.

The eunuch then sang out, ”Third round, Ye Zhi wins.”

”Excellent!” Su Chengyu praised from the stands. ”Truly, women are no less capable than men.”

After a pause, Su Chengyu loudly continued, ”As you all have seen, Princess Yi, Gong Juese, and Ye Zhi have all won. All three generals have lost.”

Turning, Su Chengyu addressed Xu Shangong, Qi Tengfei, and Liu Buli, ”My dear officials, are you convinced or not?”

Xu, Qi, and Liu, the generals who had already admitted their defeat after the competition, found it odd to be asked again but they still truthfully responded, ”Emperor, this general fully accepts defeat, recognizing that women are indeed capable as men.”

If one woman had won, it could be considered an exception, but three had won, and clearly, no one was holding back; they were truly convinced.

They had always thought women were weaker; otherwise, why would they be called the weaker sex?

But now, they had changed their views.

Some women are even more formidable than men.

”Good, since that’s the case, from today onwards, women may join the army,” Su Chengyu announced, seizing the moment.

The audience, except for An Jing and their group, was utterly shocked and erupted into a commotion.

Throughout history, there had never been a precedent of women in the army, and Su Chengyu, the New Emperor, was attempting to set this precedent.

Now, they understood why Su Chengyu organized these three matches; this was his intention from the start.

Every General present objected, saying, ”Let’s not mention that there has never been a precedent of women in the army, just having women in a male-dominated environment will cause inconvenience and could damage their reputation.”

Su Chengyu retorted, ”Once they enter the military camp, they are soldiers first, regardless of gender. And these women, devoted to serving their country, have shown no inconvenience; you men are the ones finding it inconvenient...”

After a pause, Su Chengyu coldly added, ”What, do you deem propriety more important than loyalty and service to the country?”

Hearing this, all generals immediately knelt, ”This General dares not! Emperor, please calm your anger!”

Civil Officials initially wanted to oppose too, but realizing that Su Chengyu was resolved to make this happen, and not wanting to displease the New Emperor, they held their tongues.

Su Chengyu then declared loudly, ”Xiyun, regardless of gender, if everyone is dedicated to serving the country, why fear foreign invasion?”
