Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1387 - 694: Drilling Into the Giant Crimson Crystal_3

”Alright, come on up, aren’t you burning up already!” Wang Lei extended his hand to Zhao Xiaochuan, pulling him out.

This passage wasn’t wide, the widest part was barely sixty or seventy centimeters in diameter, just enough for one person to crawl through.

Xu Xin and Xu Ying slid down to take a look.

Because every time they cut off a piece of the scarlet crystal, a large amount of heat would be released, making the interior of this half-meter-wide passage extremely stuffy, definitely over forty degrees, and it felt like it was close to fifty degrees.

”You actually dug straight into the innermost part of the scarlet crystal.” Xu Xin was very surprised, and after coming up, he said to Zhao Xiaochuan, ”You did a great job.”

”Haha!”

Zhao Xiaochuan wiped the sweat from his forehead, feeling smug: ”Our small nuclear missiles are only about fifty centimeters in diameter, they fit right in, plus, I plan to extend this passage in all directions and make multiple cuts, to make an enormous explosion inside the scarlet crystal!”

”Great idea, but I think you should take a break.” Xu Xin grabbed Zhao Xiaochuan’s arm as he was about to jump in again, ”You’re obviously very exhausted.”

”Uh...” Zhao Xiaochuan swayed as Xu Xin grabbed him.

He had been working in high temperature for a long time, and everything he saw emitted a strong scarlet glow, causing him to feel extremely dizzy now.

”I’ll do it.” Jin Yue took over the cutter, ”I’ve been watching him cut for a long time, I’m quite familiar with it.”

”Huh? Let me do it!” Wang Lei hurriedly said, ”I’ve also been observing for a while, and as a big man, how could I let...”

”Forget it, you’re too big, can you even move around in that small hole?” Xu Ying waved her hand, ”Let Jin Yue do it.”

”Uh... seems like it...” Wang Lei scratched his head.

”Alright then... like this, you start digging from this position...” Zhao Xiaochuan immediately explained his plan to Jin Yue.

Meanwhile, Xu Xin and Xu Ying went to check on the progress of the other three alien invaders.

They were doing quite well, although not as deep as Zhao Xiaochuan’s work, almost each had cut the second passage big enough for a small nuclear weapon to fit in.

Progress was going smoothly.

The two returned to the group and explained the situation.

”Then let’s just wait here.” Qin Fu spread his hands, ”Didn’t expect this place to be quite safe.”

At this moment, Xu Ying suddenly pointed upwards and said, ”Hey, I say, do any of you want to go up there and take a look?”

...?

”Huh?”

”Go up?”

”Are you serious?” Xu Xin couldn’t help but twitch his mouth.

”Since we’re just sitting around here, why not go check out the inside of their World Tree? We might find a few more cutting tools,” Xu Ying pointed to the alien invader beside her, ”Although the cutting speed isn’t slow, to achieve our goal, it seems like it would take at least five or six more hours, shouldn’t we find something to do during this time?”

”This...” Li Wenxi hesitated, ”It’s too dangerous, and we don’t have the capability to go up there right now, do we?”

”Of course we do.” Xu Ying pointed to the alien invader, ”It definitely has the ability to take us up.”

Everyone looked at the alien invader.

Indeed.

This alien invader, as a worker cutting the scarlet crystal, is definitely one of the core members of this World Tree, almost certainly a resident of this World Tree.

Therefore, controlling it would surely allow them to ascend.

”... You mean to have one of us take its place, and then I control it to take you up?” Wen Guixin immediately refused, ”No way, our situation is so dangerous and complicated right now, it’s ridiculous!”

”No way.” Xu Xin also refused.

Going up at this moment is nothing short of courting death.

Isn’t this just offering themselves up to their enemies?

”I’ve thought it through before wanting to go up.” Xu Ying pointed to the dense Red Mist, ”Staying here too long, I’m worried something might go wrong with us too; it might be better to rotate and let those not cutting go elsewhere.”

”And also...” Xu Ying looked up at the spreading Red Mist above, speaking with interest, ”The outside might already be in chaos thanks to those monsters, and we might actually be able to sneak away with some stuff during the confusion.”

”Better not.”

Everyone shook their heads.

”Hmph...”

Xu Ying bit her lip, then gritted her teeth.

”Then I’ll go up myself, there are a lot of alien invaders in the trunk space right now, and some of them will surely head up, I’ll find a chance to blend in with them.”

”Yingying, you...”

Xu Xin felt a bit helpless.

At over three hundred years old, how can she be so headstrong at a crucial moment?

If she goes up, they effectively lose a guaranteed teleport and a fallback route.

”Yingying...”

”No need to persuade me, sister-in-law.” Xu Ying waved her hand, ”Brother, come with me, I have something to tell you.”

Xu Xin looked at Xu Ying, his eyes trembling slightly.

He seemed to somewhat understand why Xu Ying was being so stubborn.

This... may be her last act of stubbornness.

Xu Xin felt a tug in his heart.

Does Yingying still think she’s doomed?

Their plan didn’t involve the use of the weapon she provided.

What does she want to tell me?

Xu Xin stood up and followed Xu Ying into the depths of the Red Mist.

”Yingying, you...”

”Brother, the weapon I gave you from another dimension, it looks like it has to be used.”
