Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1385 - 694: Drilling a Hole in the Giant Crimson Crystal

In the Red Mist, the explorers’ plan slowly unfolded.

After the three alien invaders were controlled, Xu Xin handed them three cutting tools, and under Wen Guixin’s control, they began to cut at four different locations on the crimson crystal.

”Hey, their cutting speed is so slow!” Due to the mist, Zeng Tao had to get close to one of the alien invaders to see its actions clearly. He stared at it for a few seconds, then turned to Wen Guixin and said, ”They’re cutting such a small piece of crimson crystal again!”

”Oh? Let me see.”

Wen Guixin had just directed the last alien invader to a position, then walked over to observe: ”They really are. You guys, cut faster for me, use the fastest speed to cut the largest piece you can!”

The three alien invaders noticeably paused for a moment, then their cutting motion stopped, and their eyes all over their bodies began blinking nonstop.

The alien invaders don’t understand human language, but Wen Guixin wasn’t using language to command them; those words were just spoken casually.

But it seemed there was some resistance to Wen Guixin’s command.

”Hmm?” Wen Guixin frowned, ”Hurry up!”

The alien invaders’ bodies trembled, their eyes blinked furiously twice, then immediately began cutting in the manner Wen Guixin had just described.

The laser of the cutting tool pierced into the crimson crystal and made a large circle on its surface.

”Nice.” Wen Guixin nodded satisfied.

”Oh, it seems these alien invaders are quite reluctant to cut large pieces,” Qin Fu observed, ”Then our earlier guess about why they were cutting small pieces might not be wrong.”

”Anyway, this should be no problem now.” Wen Guixin glanced around, took a few steps into the depths of the Red Mist, ”Those turrets are already gone, this place has become much safer. What about Xu Xin and the others?”

”Here,” Xu Xin’s voice came from the depths of the Red Mist.

Xu Xin had actually been observing one of the alien invaders all along, never leaving, but the mist was so thick now that you couldn’t see anyone beyond a meter.

Seeing that the alien invaders’ cutting speed wasn’t slow, he also temporarily relaxed.

”Then what do we do?” Lou Fei’Er pointed at themselves, ”Seems like... there’s nothing for us?”

”Our task is to stay alert at all times,” Xu Xin replied.

In this dense Red Mist, he really felt insecure because the view was too narrow.

Narrow to the point that he might not even see an enemy right in front of him.

”Don’t worry, if there are metallic creations, I can spot them immediately,” Li Wenxi raised her head and smiled, ”How about it, bringing me on this mission was a wise decision, right?”

”Indeed,” Xu Xin also smiled.

In the current environment of Red Mist and the crimson crystal outbreak, if the alien invaders were fine, they shouldn’t enter this underground space in this state.

Just looking at the state of those three alien invaders who collapsed after donning protective membranes shows that.

So, before the Red Mist dissipates, it’s very unlikely that any more alien invaders will enter.

But machinery might still enter to check.

Therefore, before the Red Mist dissipates, Li Wenxi’s ability is crucial.

”Then it’s up to you,” Xu Xin squeezed Li Wenxi’s hand that was holding his, then looked around, ”I... will go check around a bit.”

It’s all Red Mist, can’t see anything.

But he still wanted to look at the surrounding walls.

Maybe he could discover something new?

Standing here waiting isn’t a solution.

”Oh? Better not,” Li Wenxi held him back, ”We shouldn’t separate; if something happens, how can I alert you? I can’t just shout to grab your attention.”

Xu Xin pressed his lips.

That’s true.

”Then... we just wait?”

If each person had a cutting tool, they could speed up, but now with only four tools, several people can only wait here.

”Then we just wait,” Lou Fei’Er walked up to Xu Xin, ”It’s too exhausting to stay tense like this, we need to rest a bit, otherwise if a crisis hit, we won’t be able to hold on.”

Zeng Tao also joined, ”Yeah, going to check around is useless. What are you looking for? Those loose, maybe hiding something World Tree root walls? I can’t even pry them open, so what’s the use if you find them?”

That makes sense.

Xu Xin looked into the depths of the Red Mist.

... Then let’s just leave it for now.

Xu Xin looked at her: ”Speaking of, do you all still think inhaling this crimson mist would be addictive?”

”Not now,” Lou Fei’Er shook her head, ”But earlier, when the crimson crystal suddenly burst with light, during those few seconds of influence, I felt that sensation again.”

”I didn’t either,” Zeng Tao took a deep breath, ”Cough, cough, cough...”

Then he was directly choked by the Red Mist.

”Ugh... cough, cough! Moreover, cough, is this Red Mist really the same as before? It’s not pleasant at all!”

Not pleasant?

Ah...

Xu Xin remembered.

This dense Red Mist is slightly different from the ones they encountered before.
