Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1380 - 692: Artillery Filling the Underground Space!

”It’s so dark...” Li Wenxi whispered, ”Should we turn on a light? If we do, will this machine notice us?”

”Then let’s not turn it on. We all have red berries, right? Just eat one and it’ll be fine,” Wen Guixin said in the darkness.

”That seems reasonable, then...”

”Hey, better not?” Qin Fu quickly interrupted, ”Red berries enhance night vision. The principle is they make your eyes more receptive to light sources, right? If you strengthen your night vision by eating the berries, how will you get out later?”

Xu Xin also spoke up: ”I feel the same way. Let’s not. Let’s just stay like this for now.”

Xu Ying was observing the surroundings: ”My night vision is pretty good, I can see the general layout. From my observation, there aren’t any attack-type weapons here, but there are at least ten surveillance systems, capturing this small room all around without any blind spots.”

A small room about the size of a bedroom, with dozens of surveillance systems...

”Where do you think this place is?” Lou Fei’Er asked in the dark, ”Just now, the alien invader dumped those scarlet crystal shards into this machine...”

”Not sure. But maybe the creature will know.”

Xu Ying looked at Xu Xin.

At this moment, Xu Ying took off her wristband and handed it to Li Wenxi: ”Wenxi, store me inside, I’ll go have a chat with it. Five minutes, release me in five minutes.”

”Oh, okay.” Li Wenxi nodded lightly and immediately touched Xu Xin with the wristband.

Suddenly, Xu Xin’s vision shifted from complete darkness to a vast luminescent space.

”Squeak!”

Earlier, when everyone was stored in the wristband, Keke was stored as well, and now, as soon as Xu Xin entered, Keke quickly jumped onto him.

Xu Xin gently rubbed Keke’s little head.

Keke hadn’t been let out because with the sliding and jumping movements, if Keke were to fall out of the cloak without a proper grip, it would be troublesome.

”Do you need me to take action?” a hoarse, unpleasant voice sounded from behind Xu Xin.

He turned around to see the creature sitting cross-legged like a human, most of its eyes closed except for two on its face, looking at Xu Xin.

It was cloaked under a concealer cloak, seemingly ready to be released at any moment.

”Yes.” Xu Xin walked to its side and sat down, ”The current situation...”

He explained the situation briefly to the creature.

”Oh? That’s how it is.”

The creature pondered for a moment.

”Your guess was right. The large machine you saw, about seven or eight meters high, is for storing and processing scarlet crystals, and it’s also the underground space’s exit.”

”When the alien invaders cutting scarlet crystals want to leave, they enter a larger opening, where the machine will take them to the surface.”

”Moreover, if you’re discovered, the upper entrance will immediately close. If you want to get out, you must rely on that machine. But that machine won’t take you out; entering it means a dead end for you.”

Xu Xin understood: ”So, without Xu Ying’s ability, if we were discovered after entering, we’d be directly sealed in here, and couldn’t get out.”

The place’s defenses are really tight.

Cutting workers need to enter the machine to leave.

Hence, apart from storing scarlet crystals, the machine’s existence is likely for inspecting the workers’ bodies, to check if they’re privately carrying scarlet crystals, preventing smuggling.

This way, it ensures the scarlet crystals are completely contained.

”That’s it.” The creature stood up, ”I understand the situation. Release me, and I’ll help attract those small machines away so you can continue your plan.”

”You seem calm,” Xu Xin looked up at it, ”This is the final stage of your plan. If it succeeds...”

”You’ll drive these invaders off your planet.” The creature’s mouth split open, as if smiling, ”I’ve thought a lot alone here. I expected this moment long ago. What I didn’t expect was your swift action.”

Xu Xin’s eyes flashed.

It addressed itself as ”alone.”

Is this a shift in mindset?

Forget it, given the current situation, I can only trust it.

”Whether we can accomplish the plan depends on you.” Xu Xin also stood and extended his hand towards it.

The creature seemed slightly taken aback.

It thoroughly studied human behavior and culture. Knowing a handshake is a human gesture.

But it didn’t expect Xu Xin to want to shake hands with it.

Given that both sides generally dislike each other.

Nevertheless, its mouth split wider, using a hand with closed eyes, grasping Xu Xin’s hand.

”No, the key still lies with you. But rest assured, I’ll allure those machines away.”

”Squeak...” Keke peeked a tiny head out from Xu Xin’s concealer cloak, watched the creature shake Xu Xin’s hand, and blinked.

Xu Xin smiled and nodded, just about to speak, when suddenly his surroundings shifted dramatically.
