Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1361 - 685: An Unexpected Riot (Part 3)

This was an enormous advantage for what Xu Xin was about to do next.

Xu Xin didn’t rush. He walked over at a normal pace.

If you’re too anxious, you can’t eat hot tofu.

If he rushed and got discovered, everything would be ruined. Not just ruined—he’d probably die here on the spot.

He couldn’t rush.

Even so, his heart was pounding, and his steps inevitably grew longer.

At the same time, he looked toward the positions of the scarlet crystals.

It was really...

A total mess.

Lou Fei’Er and Jin Yue had followed Xu Xin’s suggestion, so every thrown scarlet crystal landed very close to the alien invaders.

Which meant the rampaging alien invaders got their hands on the scarlet crystals one step ahead of those mechanical little jellyfish.

Every frenzied alien invader wanted a scarlet crystal, but there were thousands of alien invaders and only six scarlet crystals. The scene instantly became insanely chaotic.

Countless blobs of pitch‑black sludge were tangled together, black tentacles flailing wildly, with chunks of black ”meat” flying everywhere!

These alien invaders had really gone insane under the glow of the scarlet crystals!

Meanwhile, the mechanical little jellyfish just kept spinning above the brawling alien invaders, occasionally dipping down, but not daring to touch them.

The mechanical little jellyfish that had intended to retrieve the scarlet crystals were delayed for a bit due to scrambled orders, and could no longer join the ”battle.”

The mechanical little jellyfish were flashing bright green lights, just as dazzling under the scarlet glow.

Their warning state was indicated by green light, which was easy enough to explain: the alien invaders’ homeworld’s surface was made of unconcentrated scarlet crystal. It wasn’t as blinding as the concentrated version, but it should still be red.

So from birth, alien invaders saw nothing but blood‑red everywhere. Red was normal to them; instead, green—the opposite of red—was their warning color.

However...

These little jellyfish were only sounding the alarm and not taking any action at all.

Were they really this weak?

No... could it be that they had some kind of rule that forbade them from harming their own alien invaders?

That was very possible. After all, the mechanical little jellyfish were intelligent, and most artificial intelligences came with constraints.

In any case, this only made the situation even more chaotic, even more out of control!

Xu Xin turned his head toward his target.

He had already reached the edge of the display platform.

Wenxi had said there were no traps.

And just a moment ago, this platform had been packed with alien invaders.

He had no time to hesitate. He stepped up onto the platform in one stride.

Then in two steps, he reached the first showcase.

”This is...”

On this showcase lay several layers of thin, transparent...

Plastic sheeting?

Xu Xin was momentarily stunned.

Was this plastic sheeting really what was emitting that dazzling golden glow?

The thought only flickered through his mind. In the next second, he reached out and grabbed the several layers of ”plastic.”

Then he shoved them straight into his wristband.

The instant his hand closed on the ”plastic,” an introduction to these layers appeared in his mind.

[Unknown Material Film (Gold): A thin film refined through hundreds of processes. Purpose unknown, but it seems capable of blocking radiation.]

...Block radiation?

Xu Xin’s eyes widened.

But the current situation gave him no time to think it over. He took two more steps to the next showcase.

This showcase held a long, bar‑shaped device.

The end of the device was open—looked... like a gun muzzle?

Xu Xin only glanced at it before scooping it up.

[Unknown Device (Gold): A device forged from unknown extraterrestrial materials, capable of firing short laser bursts of up to hundreds of millions of degrees without harming the user.]

Short laser bursts?

...A laser cutter?

Xu Xin frowned.

What were these two things actually for?

Why were they so coveted by the alien invaders?

Still, now wasn’t the time to think about it.

He had already stored both items in his wristband. Monster was in the wristband; once it saw them, it might understand.

His current mission was to rendezvous with Lou Fei’Er and Jin Yue, then escape from this world tree that had plunged into chaos!

”Keke, I’m counting on you next.”

”Ying!”
