Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1378 - 691: The Secret Hidden Behind the Wall_2

Jin Yue took it over: ”Okay, how do I... turn this on and off?”

”I’ll teach you...”

The others exchanged a glance, and Xu Xin nodded slightly.

Everyone slowly walked to the edge of the crimson crystal.

Below, rows of dark cannon muzzles were pointed at them.

And the three alien invaders were still mechanically cutting the crimson crystal non-stop.

He was surprised to find that the speed at which the alien invaders cut the crystal was...

So slow.

Really so slow.

They took half a day to cut a piece of crimson crystal the size of a fingernail, then carefully placed it into a metal basket next to them.

At this moment, only the bottom layer of the metal basket was covered with fingernail-sized crimson crystals.

It would probably take a long time to fill this metal basket.

”Why are they cutting so slowly...” Lou Fei’Er whispered, ”Could it be that the cutters in their hands aren’t working?”

Xu Xin frowned.

That’s possible.

Earlier, Zhao Xiaochuan had turned his hand and dug out a crimson crystal the size of a fist from the wall.

But those alien invaders fumbled around for a long time to get a piece the size of a fingernail.

It really makes one doubt there’s a problem with the cutter.

The cutter Xu Xin got was displayed by the alien invaders to speed up cutting progress and select talents.

So the cutter in their hands is likely a specially optimized speed version.

...but no.

If there was a specially optimized cutter, why not just give it to those three alien invaders below directly?

Why select new workers?

Forget it, now’s not the time to think about this.

”We need to find a relatively safe location first, to release it there.” Xu Xin said.

”Do you want me to take you out first?” Xu Ying suggested.

”No.” Xu Xin shook his head, ”It must appear here directly to disrupt the situation here. If it appears outside, in another location, it will only make the guards here stricter, making it harder for us to act.”

”Indeed.” Xu Ying nodded slightly.

”But even saying that... there’s no safe place around here...” Wen Guixin looked around.

Below, almost all of it were those dark cannon muzzles.

Moreover, upon a closer look, those turrets didn’t seem to be moved here from elsewhere but were... directly growing from the ground, intertwined with the roots of the world tree.

Their lower parts were actually embedded in the roots of the world tree.

It looks as if, when sensing a crisis, they grew out of the ground by themselves.

”There is a path though.” Qin Fu nodded his chin.

Indeed, amidst the ground filled with turrets, the turrets made room for a ”path”.

This path circled around the crimson crystal, forming a loop, then branched off straight in one direction.

Everyone followed this path, not occupied by turrets, and looked in that direction.

There was nothing strange, still the intertwined, complex walls formed by the world tree’s thick roots.

If it weren’t for this ”path,” they wouldn’t have felt anything special about this wall.

But...

”Hey, at that position... Aren’t the gaps between those roots slightly bigger than the other places?” Li Wenxi suddenly tugged Xu Xin’s arm and whispered.

Xu Xin squinted his eyes and looked over.

What Li Wenxi said was indeed true.

That small section of the wall formed by world tree roots did seem to be...

Looser than the walls in other places.

Though they were all formed by the intertwining of world tree roots, the roots elsewhere were tightly wound together, but at that spot...

They weren’t as tight.

But still not a huge difference.

It’s to the extent that if it weren’t for the path drawing attention to that wall, they would have completely missed it.

Who could find such a small loose spot among this huge wall of roots!

”Seems like the turrets grown out of the ground have kind of helped us.” Xu Xin chuckled.

”Grown from the ground?” Zeng Tao looked at the ground in astonishment, ”They really grew out!”

”You only realized now...?” Lou Fei’Er said speechlessly.

”Alright, since that’s the case, let’s go over there and take a look.” Xu Xin looked at his companions, ”Together.”

”Okay.”

Everyone jumped off the crimson crystal one by one, landing lightly on the ground.

Fortunately, they didn’t attract the attention of the surrounding turrets.

By now, they were only about four or five meters away from the three alien invaders who were diligently cutting.

Cutting sounds came from over there.

Sound-wise, it wasn’t any different from Zhao Xiaochuan’s cutter; the noise was low, almost identical.

”Let’s move, don’t alert them.” Xu Xin said softly.

The group walked along the path without turrets, heading towards the edge of the underground space.

Though the underground space wasn’t very large, about the size of a football field, they quickly reached the edge.

”Is it here?” Zeng Tao reached out to touch the wall made of world tree roots, ”Feels similar to the underground space of our world tree... Why are you gripping my hand?”

Lou Fei’Er was holding Zeng Tao’s hand that was trying to touch the wall.
