Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1359 - 685: Unexpected Riot

Lou Fei’Er and Jin Yue walked in different directions, while Xu Xin and Li Wenxi stayed put, waiting.

Over a hundred alien invaders still crowded around that area.

”Um... I feel like those mechanical jellyfish in the sky are becoming more and more numerous...” Li Wenxi said softly.

More and more?

”Are you sure?” Xu Xin asked in a low voice. ”Weren’t those flying little things always drilling into that corridor nonstop?”

From the time they came out until now, at least a hundred mechanical jellyfish had drilled into the corridor.

”Yeah, I know, but...” Li Wenxi looked up at the sky, ”I shouldn’t be mistaken... There are indeed more mechanical jellyfish in the air now than when we just came out of the corridor.”

When they came out, there were already many mechanical jellyfish flying in the air, like a swarm of drones, but Xu Xin hadn’t noticed any change in their numbers.

However, Li Wenxi was very sensitive to metal constructs.

”And there are a lot more, at least more than half...” Li Wenxi said softly.

”...It seems the managers here might have already noticed,” Xu Xin said in a deep voice.

They had already realized that the four intruders who entered the World Tree earlier were no longer in the corridor and had mixed in with the alien invaders.

Although they hadn’t figured out how Xu Xin and the others came out of the corridor unnoticed, they had started to monitor this market closely.

Fortunately, before they acted, Xu Xin had given them one last piece of advice.

”When you throw the red crystal, make sure it’s closer to one of the alien invaders.”

We can’t let the alien invaders realize the red crystal was thrown by us. What should we do?

Of course, place the blame elsewhere.

The alien invaders now suspect that there are rebels from their species mixed among them, which is just what they could use to their advantage.

Let a few unlucky souls buy them some time.

”Fei’Er and the others have reached their positions,” Li Wenxi whispered.

Xu Xin nodded slowly.

The next moment.

An extremely dazzling red glow suddenly illuminated an area about five hundred meters away from Xu Xin!

Despite being five hundred meters away and in an inexplicably bright environment, the red glow was still blindingly bright.

For a moment, the attention of many alien invaders was drawn over!

At the same time, all the eyes of the alien invaders facing the scarlet light squinted.

Such a small piece of red crystal could emit a glow that the alien invaders couldn’t open their eyes against.

For a moment, the entire ”market” was in an uproar!

The unbearably harsh voices of the alien invaders instantly heightened a few decibels, assaulting Xu Xin’s brain.

”Ugh...” Beside him, Li Wenxi’s face turned slightly pale, unable to bear the sound, and raised her hands to cover her ears.

”Eep...” Keke in Xu Xin’s arms curled up tightly, its little paws covering its ears, twisting around in Xu Xin’s embrace.

Another sound attack.

Xu Xin felt dizzy and light-headed.

Around him was a crowd of pitch-black tentacled creatures covered in eyes, and ringing in his ears was a sound even worse than nails on a chalkboard...

This was practically torture in Hell...

He could stuff something into his ears to block the sound, but in such a dangerous place, disabling his hearing was tantamount to seeking death.

So he had no choice but to endure it.

At this moment, the attention of many alien invaders had been drawn away, and the mass of over a hundred pitch-black creatures started to loosen up slightly.

The mechanical jellyfish in the sky hadn’t responded immediately either; under the glare of the scarlet light, they paused for a moment, seemingly very surprised.

These mechanical jellyfish seemed to have a decent level of intelligence; they could communicate with each other, so it was normal for them to be momentarily surprised.

But this surprise didn’t last long, just three or four seconds later, the mechanical jellyfish in the sky swarmed like insects, collectively diving towards the source of the red glow!

”Whoosh—beep—beep—”

”Beep—beep beep beep—”

”Deet—deet deet—”

At the same time, countless alarm-like sounds were emitted from these mechanical jellyfish in the sky, whose numbers were no less than that of the alien invaders.

Simultaneously, bright green lights began to flicker on these mechanical jellyfish, forming a vast array of green light across the sky!

Combined with the red light emitted by the crystal Lou Fei’Er threw, the interior of the World Tree momentarily felt like a dance floor or discotheque.

The extremely unpleasant clamor of the alien invaders mixed with the alarm noises of the mechanical jellyfish, along with the ceaseless flashing of the contrasting red and green lights, gave one the feeling of an impending apocalypse.

And just then, in another direction, another red glow illuminated!

Jin Yue threw her first red crystal.

Instantly, the scene became even more chaotic!

The mechanical jellyfish in the air, diving in one direction, suddenly acted like drones hacked with rogue programs, some stopping abruptly in mid-air, others spinning around, and some swaying left and right, as if malfunctioning.

”Conflicting instructions?” Xu Xin muttered to himself.

These mechanical jellyfish seemed to have their own intelligence and consciousness.

But previously, the sudden simultaneous actions of these mechanical jellyfish, collectively diving toward the source of the red glow, clearly indicated they had received instructions.

Perhaps instructions like ”retrieve the red crystal emitting light,” ”restrict all individuals in the area where the red crystal appears,” and so on.
