Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1384 - 693: What Incredible Luck! (Part 3)

”It should be this alien invader fell to the ground, and then the cutting tool rolled over it,” Li Wenxi whispered, then handed the cutting tool to Xu Xin.

Xu Xin examined it himself and then used his identification ability to check again.

”It seems... exactly the same as the cutting tool we had before?” He was a bit puzzled, ”Then why was this guy cutting so slowly just now?”

”Is it possible that the small fragments cut directly from this large concentrated crimson crystal have the highest energy content?” Xu Ying proposed her hypothesis, ”If, like Zhao Xiaochuan, you first cut off a large piece and then subdivide it, there might be energy loss.”

Zhao Xiaochuan suddenly realized after hearing this: ”Speaking of it, every time I cut off a piece, I can feel the heat rushing towards me, and the crystal suddenly heats up and becomes very scorching. Could that be the energy being lost?”

That certainly seems possible.

”That would be great.” Xu Xin looked at the cutting tool in his hand and said, ”Let’s go find other tools.”

They all took a few steps forward and saw two more alien invaders.

The two lay collapsed together, with one covering half of the other.

”Wenxi, there should be two more cutting tools here,” Xu Xin said to Li Wenxi.

”Hmm, there’s one here.” Li Wenxi walked to the side, picked up one tool, then looked at the two alien invaders sprawling together, ”And the other one...”

She pointed between the two alien invaders, ”It’s wedged between them...”

”Then let’s pry it open!” Wang Lei said, ready to kick one of them open with his foot.

”Hold on!”

”Hey, wait a minute!”

”Don’t kick!”

The crowd immediately stopped Wang Lei.

”Huh?” Wang Lei was a bit confused, ”What’s up?”

”What’s the rush,” Wen Guixin rolled her eyes, ”What if you wake it up, and then it calls those little mechanical jellyfish over?”

”Ah, this...”

”Let me just infect them both first.” Wen Guixin squatted down, pressing her hands on both of them, and looked back at the one from before, ”Once I’ve infected these two, I’ll go infect that one too.”

This indeed was the most convenient method.

Moreover, the controlled alien invaders could serve as laborers for a while.

Li Wenxi looked up, ”Hmm, those little mechanical jellyfish really have left, and...”

She looked around the crimson crystal, pursing her lips, her eyes full of confusion, ”Why have those turrets also... retracted?”

”Huh? The turrets retracted?” Zhao Xiaochuan was puzzled, ”Really? There’s no more defense here?”

”Perhaps they think just the Red Mist and this hyper-bright crimson crystal is already enough?” Xu Ying speculated.

”That’s quite possible,” Lou Fei’Er touched her face, which was now free of blood stripes, ”We’re wearing three layers of protection; the light of the crimson crystal is ineffective against us. Plus, we’ve injected the genetic mutation serum to make the Red Mist ineffective on us. They probably can’t imagine we’d have such coincidental protection, right?”

”Our luck is really good, haha!” Zeng Tao’s eyes curved with a smile.

”Even so, don’t be careless,” Xu Xin reminded, ”We probably can’t stay in this environment for long. If anyone feels uncomfortable, speak up immediately.”

At this point, Wen Guixin stood up from the ground.

Meanwhile, the two alien invaders slowly coalesced into shape on the ground.

”Their spirits have almost collapsed,” Wen Guixin said, ”It was easy to infect them. Plus, they’ve been continuously damaged by this red beam, which destroys their nervous system faster than they can recover. Thus, they can’t expel my toxin, and I can control them for quite a while, probably several hours.”

Oh?

Xu Xin’s eyes lit up.

This was excellent!

”Won’t they die being exposed to the crimson crystal like that?” Xu Ying asked.

Wen Guixin shook her head, ”Not for the moment. The destruction rate surpasses the recovery rate, but not by much. In this environment, they can survive unconscious for a few days. But with my control, they can only last a few more hours.”

No wonder they released the Red Mist down here.

Earlier, Xu Xin thought their strategy was really too cruel to these three workers, but now it didn’t seem so harsh.

However, with them here, it became harsh.

”Then let’s use them as laborers!” he immediately said, ”This way, even if those little mechanical jellyfish come back and find them still working, they won’t think anything is amiss.”

”That’s what I thought too,” Wen Guixin had already walked to the first alien invader collapsed on the ground, pressing her hand on it, ”I’ll try to control them for as long as possible.”

”But there are only three, so this cutting tool, I guess it has to be me?” Zhao Xiaochuan raised the cutting tool in his hand and then looked at Xu Ying, ”Yingying, take me up there, and I’ll continue cutting.”

Zhao Xiaochuan had already slipped the fourth membrane onto his foot.

”Okay.” Xu Ying grabbed Zhao Xiaochuan’s arm, and the two immediately disappeared from the spot.

Xu Xin then watched the alien invaders in front of him, whose eyes opened across their entire bodies, standing dumbfounded.

Their luck was indeed too good.

”Ying...”

At this point, Keke again poked half a head out of Xu Xin’s arms, looking up at Xu Xin, her little ears twitching.
