Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1377 - 691: The Secret Hidden Behind the Wall

Li Wenxi looked around, his expression somewhat grave, and whispered, ”They’re all paying attention here, let’s wait a bit.”

Everyone stood still, warily scanning their surroundings.

Their eyes had started to adapt to the scarlet environment.

But to everyone except Li Wenxi, the actions of these small jellyfish-like machines didn’t appear to change.

”Was it the sound of the laser gun that attracted those mechanical jellyfish?” Wen Guixin whispered, ”Yingying, you should’ve used it earlier.”

”It’s not that I didn’t want to.” Xu Ying glanced at the sound-suppressing device in her hand, a bit worried, ”Though it can eliminate sound, there’s a possibility it could be detected.”

”It can be detected?” Zeng Tao whispered in surprise.

”Yes.” Xu Ying nodded, ”This device uses inverse sound waves to neutralize air vibrations, preventing sound from spreading. However, it also emits some sound waves and electromagnetic waves itself.”

She looked around, ”In such an important place for the alien invaders, I’m afraid they can detect these abnormal fluctuations.”

The others looked tensely around upon hearing this.

”Wenxi, how is it now?” Xu Xin asked softly.

”...Their attention is starting to shift.” Li Wenxi’s voice relaxed considerably, and he said with some lingering fear, ”Almost attracted them here with the sound... Ah! Two mechanical jellyfish are heading this way!”

Just as Li Wenxi said, two mechanical jellyfish from different directions flew towards where Xu Xin was standing.

Under the red glow, their entire bodies reflected red light, like two bombs about to explode.

Quite overwhelming indeed.

”Let’s just hide for a bit,” Xu Xin whispered.

Everyone moved a little to the side of the small pit.

The two mechanical jellyfish accurately found the spot where they were cutting earlier, turned a few times at the entrance, exchanged a few ”kakaka” sounds, and left.

Fortunately, they didn’t notice Xu Xin and the others, who were about seven or eight meters away.

”Phew, seems like everything is okay after all.” Li Wenxi breathed a sigh of relief, ”The surrounding mechanical jellyfish won’t be paying attention here anymore.”

Unexpectedly, the sound of cutting turned out to be something that needed attention.

Xu Xin stroked his chin, pondering.

They returned to the edge of the previous pit, and Zhao Xiaochuan jumped in again.

With the help of the sound-suppressing device, everything went smoothly this time, and the surrounding mechanical jellyfish didn’t notice them.

And Zhao Xiaochuan began cutting with a ”zizizi” sound like a welder.

In fact, the cutting sound was not loud, could even be described as small.

But in this quiet environment, it was pronounced.

”This cutting speed...” Wen Guixin said with a bit of exasperation, ”Having only this one cutter is indeed too slow.”

”Ha? You’re kidding, I’m already fast enough!” Zhao Xiaochuan retorted while cutting with a ”zizizi” sound.

Zhao Xiaochuan’s cutting could already be considered quite fast, taking only half a minute to carve out a fist-sized piece of scarlet crystal.

He packed this piece of scarlet crystal into his backpack and continued cutting.

However, at this pace, carving out a hole in the scarlet crystal to house a small nuclear weapon might take some time.

And they weren’t just cutting in this one place, let alone needing to go deeper into the scarlet crystal, to directly bombard the deepest part of the scarlet crystal.

According to Ji Chaoyang’s prediction, they had less than ten hours left.

Ten hours, with only one cutter, it’s unlikely they’ll complete the task.

It seems their earlier idea was correct, they need to consider grabbing those three cutters used by the alien invaders below.

”Yingying, how many of these sound-suppression gadgets do you have?” he asked.

”Just this one.” Xu Ying looked at the metal sphere in her hand, ”This is using technology from another time and space.”

”Huh?” Wen Guixin was surprised, ”Aren’t you unable to use things from another time and space? Using them will simply...”

Xu Ying shook her head, ”This thing only uses the technology from another time and space, but was made a thousand years ago when they were still around. I only have one, and don’t know how to make it. Otherwise, I’d have let you mass-produce it by now.”

Xu Xin looked at Zhao Xiaochuan, who was cutting the scarlet crystal, and then at the numerous mechanical jellyfish around.

”In that case, we must first find a way to lure away these surrounding mechanical jellyfish; otherwise, we can’t do much.”

”Lure them away? Are we luring them away? It seems so dangerous... Ah!” Zeng Tao suddenly realized, ”That monster!”

Xu Xin nodded.

”It’s time to release it.”

Zhao Xiaochuan raised his head and waved the cutting tool that was emitting short lasers, ”Then I’ll take care of things here first. I can’t afford to not use this cutter; it’s a waste of time.”

”Wang Lei, Jin Yue, you two stay here with him.” Xu Xin instructed, ”In a moment, things might get quite chaotic, so be careful up here.”

”Understood, Brother Xin.” Wang Lei nodded.

”Understood.” Jin Yue replied.

Xu Ying then handed the sound-suppressing device to Jin Yue next to her, ”Take this, use it carefully, and if anything happens, immediately stop cutting and shut off the device.”
