Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1350 - 682: The Hair-Raising ”Bustle

This corridor is really long.

So long that it’s quite incredible.

Based on Xu Xin’s steps, he felt this corridor was at least close to a kilometer in length.

You should know, the crown of the world tree, from one side to the other, is only about two kilometers.

They seem to have already passed through this corridor, traversing half of the internal space of the world tree.

”How can this path be so long...” Li Wenxi murmured softly in Xu Xin’s ear.

Although it was said earlier not to speak recklessly, that was supposed to be after they walked out of this corridor.

But who would have thought the path would be this long.

”Everyone who comes in from the outside must walk such a long path, right?” Xu Xin whispered, ”The reason... maybe so that the other people inside the world tree can get prepared.”

From entering the world tree to walking such a long path, it takes a considerable amount of time.

The entry method of this world tree, even Xu Xin and the others could use it, which shows that this world tree should be accessible for any alien invader to freely come and go.

If entry and exit are not restricted, then efforts need to be made on the passage of entry and exit.

The two alien invaders behind the door and this corridor that spans more than a kilometer seem to be a way to detect and screen entrants.

This path is very long, with only one direction to go, easily blocked.

If the entrants come with ill intentions, this path might become their burial ground.

If the entrants are normal beings, then the people inside the world tree can also know in advance who is coming.

Of course, the higher-ups of the world tree might not need to enter from this passage. Perhaps there are other passages to enter, or possibly teleport devices inside the world tree for the higher-ups to use to get in directly.

”This path is really strange... just a simple long road, without any facilities, no rooms on both sides.” Li Wenxi said softly.

All along, this path has been very quiet, very safe, they haven’t even seen anything resembling a camera, let alone any person-attacking weapons.

It seems to be just a very ordinary wooden corridor, with only small lights appearing every few meters, barely providing some brightness in the corridor.

At this moment, Lou Fei’Er, who was walking ahead, turned around and pointed forward with her finger.

They were about to exit this corridor.

The deep red, thick wooden door with tree rings painted on it at the end of the corridor was only a few dozen meters away from them now.

The group didn’t hurry, still walking forward at a steady pace.

The closer they got to the wooden door, the lighter their steps became.

No one knew what would be behind the wooden door.

”Huh...?”

At this moment, Li Wenxi uttered a soft sound of surprise and slightly raised her head to look upwards at an angle.

Xu Xin instinctively looked with her.

It was a very ordinary corridor ceiling.

But he realized in the next second that Li Wenxi should have used her ability to see through the walls and spotted some metal thing.

”Wait a moment...!” Li Wenxi stopped, calling out to Lou Fei’Er ahead.

Lou Fei’Er immediately came to a stop.

She gently took a few steps back, came in front of the two of them.

Behind them, Jin Yue also walked up a few steps.

Xu Xin, Lou Fei’Er, and Jin Yue all looked at Li Wenxi, waiting for her to explain the situation.

”There are at least twenty of those kinds of little robots flying down towards the door in front,” Li Wenxi explained in a low voice, ”I feel like they must be coming for us.”

Above the door?

Xu Xin’s eyes moved.

Yes, those mechanical jellyfish from before can fly, they’re not like Xu Xin and the others who have to walk on the path.

Inside this world tree, there are likely their own flight passages, resembling ventilation ducts.

So, these little robots would be flying from top to bottom.

”Whimper...” Keke poked half of her little head out from Lou Fei’Er’s arms and looked towards the door.

”You mean, those mechanical jellyfish from before?” Lou Fei’Er looked at the door, ”Did those three... call for backup?”

Just as Lou Fei’Er’s voice fell, the door ahead, only tens of meters away, slowly opened a crack.

Then, one by one, mechanical jellyfish squeezed out through the crack, flying towards Xu Xin and the others.

Their expressions changed immediately.

So many!

And they’re everywhere, above and below!

If they stayed standing here, they’d likely collide with the incoming swarm of mechanical jellyfish!

Standing against the wall wouldn’t work either; the mechanical tendrils of these jellyfish could possibly scrape them, exposing them too much!

”Get down,” Xu Xin said quietly, then slowly crouched and lay down.

The three women followed his lead and slowly went prone on the ground.

A few seconds after they laid down, the leading mechanical jellyfish flew over the top of their bodies.

But just after it passed them by a few meters, it suddenly stopped, made a circle in place.

”Beep—Beep Whirr—?”

It seemed to have sensed something wasn’t quite right.

But then, more mechanical jellyfish from behind flew over, bypassing the leading jellyfish.

”Beep—”

The one that seemed to discover an anomaly was not left behind, it chased after them.

At this moment, Xu Xin slowly turned over, looking upwards.
