Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1306 - 667: The Might of the Giant Insect, the Real Danger

Beside the World Tree of the survivors.

The giant insect wrapped around the World Tree exactly as the survivors had speculated, completely enclosing it.

Over time, it gradually moved closer to Crystal City.

And when its tail fully emerged from the ground, everyone felt suffocated.

It was actually more than twenty kilometers long!

Then, like an ouroboros, it completely enveloped Crystal City within itself.

Its two-hundred-meter tall body was like an incredibly thick and towering city wall, protecting the entire Crystal City within.

Two hundred meters high, what kind of concept is this?

When the World Tree first matured, the top of its canopy was only two hundred meters high!

Fortunately, with the growth over the past few days, the height of this World Tree had reached approximately 230 meters, just barely taller than the giant insect.

However... the height of the lower edge of the World Tree’s canopy was only seventy to eighty meters!

This means that the two-hundred-meter body of this giant insect, combined with the World Tree’s canopy, perfectly enveloped the entire Crystal City beneath the World Tree!

During this process, the giant insect endured countless attacks.

The armies of alien invaders attacked relentlessly as if the cost was nothing, hurling ammunition frantically at the giant insect!

But in the end, with little noticeable effect.

The giant insect’s regenerative ability was too formidable. The ammunition scattered on its body achieved no significant result. The giant insect didn’t even bother to look, nor did it react, as it continued to encircle the World Tree.

The alien invaders had also halted their assault, not even approaching.

Their armies held steady on a ten-kilometer line, without moving an inch.

And the dinosaur army coming from afar to attack the World Tree had long been almost reduced to nothing by missile bombardments.

Inside Crystal City, the giant beasts, their vision completely blocked by the giant insect, were now lying on the ground, appearing very docile.

They were originally responsible for fighting beneath the World Tree. If the enemy breached the World Tree, nuclear missiles would naturally be unusable. These fast-recovering beasts from Crystal City and petrified beasts capable of full recovery even if shattered were needed to exert their strength.

But now, these giant beasts were completely encircled by the body of the giant insect.

”What exactly is happening here...”

Chang Yin was currently inside a crystal house on the perimeter.

Thanks to the super strength of the crystal house, he hadn’t been affected by the countless missiles exploding within Crystal City during the earlier battle while he remained inside.

Now, he was at the window, looking at the massive, milky-white insect body surrounding the World Tree.

He climbed out the window, pushed with his hands, and flipped onto the roof of the crystal house to carefully observe the surroundings.

The hostilities outside seemed to have ceased, and they... were they completely protected?

”This giant insect... is it the one from the prison laboratory back then? Was it this big then?”

...

Inside the World Tree, everyone was stunned by the situation.

Everyone glanced at one another, then looked towards Ji Chaoyang and the others.

They didn’t know what to do under such inexplicable circumstances.

”It... really intends to protect us,” Qi Xuefei whispered.

Ji Chaoyang’s lips curled into a slightly relieved smile: ”This is great news for us. With it here, we can definitely buy more time.”

”Isn’t it absurdly large...” Qin Yunlong said, looking at the giant insect outside, almost as tall as the World Tree, and over twenty kilometers long, ”The alien invaders apparently can’t breach its defense, so aren’t we practically invincible now?”

”That’s a bit too optimistic,” Qi Xuefei commented, observing the alien invader armies ten kilometers away that had temporarily stopped moving, ”The reason they couldn’t breach its defense is that the missiles they fired just now weren’t that powerful.”

Indeed, the weapons the alien invaders used during the attack were conventional weapons.

Their power wasn’t negligible, but for the ten-thousand-meter giant insect, it was like a tickling sensation.

”Maybe those weren’t conventional weapons,” Ji Chaoyang offered another perspective, ”You forgot, the missiles they used to attack us contained agents capable of causing the World Tree to wither — they were specifically used against the World Tree. Some of the missiles that hit the giant insect also contained agents.”

”Yes, I saw that,” Qin Yunhu, who had been silent, said, ”Red agents.”

”Red agents? Isn’t that blood...” Qin Yunlong was puzzled.

”How could an insect’s blood be red?” Ji Chaoyang shook his head, ”I observed closely, and the giant insect’s blood, like other insects, is colorless. Those red liquids might be intended to pollute the giant insect.”

Blood-red contamination.

It was quite obvious.

The cannons aimed at the giant insect probably hid agents that could mutate creatures into blood-streaked variants!

But...

Even the previous bombardment didn’t affect this giant insect in the slightest.

Its body remained that striking bright milky white.
