Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1333 - 676: Master of the Pitch-Black Tentacles (2)

Ji Chaoyang continued, ”Whether or not it can be trained, even if the owner of these tentacles was raised by Xu Xin of another timeline, can we be sure it won’t act against us now that it’s this strong? Xu Xin from that timeline has been erased by the world and can no longer influence these giant beasts.”

”That is indeed the case...” Qin Yunlong slowly nodded.

”So, our best course of action now is to watch and see.” Ji Chaoyang looked at the giant ship being slowly pulled back to the purple-black light pillar, ”This situation is beneficial to our goal: buying time for Xu Xin and the others.”

These tentacles might indeed be able to help them deal with the threat of the giant ship.

The main reason Ji Chaoyang considered this was that the giant ship didn’t exist in his predicted outcome.

If such a massive ship appeared and attacked them, Ji Chaoyang didn’t believe they could hold out for long.

However, in his prediction, the World Tree is at least able to resist until midday the next day.

This suggests that the suddenly appeared giant ship might not play a significant role, at least not in posing a great threat to them now.

And the reason...

It’s likely those pitch-black tentacles.

...What exactly is the owner of these tentacles?

...

On the other side of Earth.

After the four giant ships were teleported, Xu Xin and his group accelerated their pace.

Now, they were already under the trunk of their target World Tree, even quite close to it.

It was here that they truly saw the core area of the alien invaders’ headquarters.

The three World Trees surrounded the purple-black light pillar but didn’t stick closely to it.

There was still about a kilometer between the three World Trees and the purple-black light pillar.

This area looked like a very bustling city.

Various strangely shaped buildings were scattered there, with a common trait: they were quite low, which is why Xu Xin and his group hadn’t seen the area from a distance before.

However, this ”core city” only appeared bustling because Xu Xin and the others hadn’t found any life forms active within it, leaving only these bizarrely shaped buildings to form a seemingly magical small city.

”This little city should be where the alien invaders live, right?” Lou Fei’Er whispered, ”Where have they all gone? Could it be they followed those four giant ships?”

Very possible.

Xu Xin looked at the buildings.

The people living in this core area are likely the leader’s people; if the leader went on an expedition, they should indeed follow.

It’s simply providence for them; now, the chance of them being discovered is even lower.

Xu Xin looked again at the World Tree’s trunk, now only a few hundred meters away from them.

The core of the alien invaders’ Source of Life was located underground, just below this World Tree right in front of them.

They should have already reached the area directly above their target, maybe even directly standing on it.

Xu Xin even thought about digging down.

But that’s not realistic.

Attempting to approach the core by digging is completely impossible because the underground control space of the World Tree, which is its console area, is entirely wrapped by the roots closest to the trunk, the most powerful root system of the World Tree.

The only way to enter the underground control area of the World Tree is from within the World Tree itself.

So, before that, they must enter the World Tree.

And the monsters provided them with a way.

These three World Trees are where the high-level individuals of the alien invaders reside, akin to human palaces, and palaces will surely have gatekeepers.

For instance, the father of the monster, also the leader of the alien invaders, is the owner of these three World Trees, but it is impossible for it to approve and authorize every single entrance and exit personally.

Thus, there are the so-called ”gatekeepers.”

These gatekeepers hold the authority to enter and exit the World Trees, as well as the authority to bring others into them.

Each World Tree has three gatekeepers, each watching the entrance and exit at different times.

The gatekeepers of the World Tree are not combat personnel, so even if the entire army is dispatched, they should still continue to guard the entrance and exit of the World Tree, because that is their duty and responsibility.

Therefore, as long as Xu Xin and his group find the gatekeepers, they will have found the key to the World Tree.

As for how to make the gatekeepers help them enter the World Tree, that’s even simpler.

”The gatekeeper of this World Tree should be residing in that metal hut over there, right?” Wen Guixin pointed to a small metallic house a few hundred meters ahead, ”Once I infect it and bring it under my control, we can enter their World Tree.”

Wen Guixin’s abilities now are completely different from before.

Now, she can easily infect small-sized high-level mutant creatures using media like bullets.

But for large-sized creatures, such as giant beasts, bullets with toxins become much less effective.

However, if able to touch directly, she can still infect the giant beasts in a much shorter time than before.

Thus, for alien invaders who are not inherently strong in physical ability, as long as she gets close and makes contact, she is confident in infecting them.

Also, the hidden cloak she wore gave her this opportunity.

Moreover, she could now control her toxins. This control not only allowed her to touch others safely but also enabled her to control the toxins already injected into other organisms.
