Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1303 - 666: Arrival

The sharp calls of the giant bats behind faded into the distance.

Huihui maintained its speed, continuing to fly forward at the fastest pace.

After about two minutes, the sounds of bats were no longer heard from behind, and Xu Xin let out a long sigh of relief.

”They probably won’t catch up; Huihui, slow down a bit if you’re tired. We still have three hundred kilometers to go.”

”Ya—” Huihui let out a cry, slowing down just a little, but not by much.

Beside Xu Xin, Old Yang who had been laying flat on Huihui’s back straightened up and looked back: ”Did we shake them off? Using the treehouse core to distract them was a pretty clever trick.”

”Didn’t you know that the treehouse core can attract them?” Xu Xin asked.

”You did it, so now I know.” Old Yang turned back, operating his dashboard while saying, ”We usually don’t interact with purebred giant beasts. Even during experiments, they are blood-patterned giant beasts, so we don’t fully understand these purebred ones.”

I see.

Xu Xin looked ahead.

This tunnel was very wide and relatively straight. Huihui had been flying for three or four minutes without encountering any rugged branches, and though it wasn’t perfectly straight, the general direction seemed correct.

No wonder those giant bats use this place as their gathering area. Given their size, only here they could fly freely.

However...

Since the giant bats reside here, then...

”Keep going forward, the direction is right.” Old Yang raised the dashboard in his hand for Xu Xin to see.

Xu Xin nodded: ”Huihui, just keep going forward.”

Saying this, he embraced the little one who was still clinging tightly to his arm and shivering slightly,

”Ya—”

”Ooh...” Keke was held in Xu Xin’s arms, not as scared anymore, it lifted its little head to glance ahead, then buried back into Xu Xin’s embrace.

It was a bit afraid of heights.

Moreover, at Huihui’s current speed, even in the not-so-spacious tunnel, it reached a speed of over 300 kilometers per hour and without the protection that an aircraft provides, Keke was understandably scared.

But the fast pace was good. At this speed, we should be able to reach the destination within an hour.

The incoming wind was so strong it made it hard to keep their eyes open, Xu Xin once again leaned down onto Huihui’s back.

Old Yang mirrored the same posture.

”Your pterosaur’s speed is much faster than I anticipated,” Old Yang said.

”Have you interacted with pterosaurs like Huihui before?” Xu Xin asked.

”I have, these pterosaurs are companions only possessed by the order maintainers. Compared to our aircraft, though slower, they are more agile.

Moreover, their strength and recovery ability are impressive. Unlike our aircraft which become irreparable when damaged, these pterosaurs can recover rapidly from even severe injuries, as long as they are provided with essential resources. That’s why they are loved by order maintainers; everyone raises one, but yours is... rather unique.”

”Oh? In what way is it special?”

”Yours is... larger than any I’ve seen before, and the speed...”

Old Yang lifted his head, the incoming wind so strong he couldn’t close his mouth, then leaned back down and said: ”This speed is much faster than my previous experience. But perhaps the pterosaurs I encountered before weren’t flying at full capacity.”

Huihui seems special, huh...

If Old Yang knew Huihui was only a few months old, he’d likely be even more astonished.

”Ya—”

After a cry, Huihui suddenly accelerated, slightly increasing its speed once more.

Even though the current speed made the surrounding wind extremely fierce with a howling sound in their ears, Huihui could still easily hear the voices of Xu Xin and the others.

It seemed to say: look, the previous speed wasn’t my limit, I can go even faster!

”Huihui, there are still over two hundred kilometers left, don’t waste your energy, otherwise, you might not be able to fly later.” Xu Xin immediately stopped it.

”Ya...”

Upon hearing Xu Xin’s advice, Huihui slowed down again, stabilizing at the previous speed.

It appears this approximately 300 km/h is the speed Huihui can maintain for extended flight.

That’s really fast.

According to archaeologists’ estimates based on existing fossils, the Wind God Winged Dragon, the sky overlord of the Cretaceous Period, could fly at speeds of 107 kilometers per hour, while Huihui’s speed is three times that of the ancient pterosaur!

And this is in a rugged underground tunnel; on open air, with a tailwind, it might be even faster!

”Ooh...?” Keke suddenly peeked its small head out from Xu Xin’s arms, blinked its eyes, then tucked back inside.

”...?” Xu Xin looked down at the little one in his arms.

What has the little one discovered?

But since there’s no urgency from it, it indicates there’s no danger.

However...

”Everything here couldn’t be solely inhabited by these giant bats,” Xu Xin remarked.

”Yes, I know,” Old Yang nodded. ”Since these bats can live here, it proves there’s a complete food chain supporting their existence.”

Xu Xin kept shining the powerful flashlight into the path for Huihui, and also took out another powerful flashlight, pointing it downward.

”This...”

He was shocked to discover that below, indeed, there’s an entirely different world!
