Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1319 - 671: Come On, Let’s Go Pillage! (Part 2)

”Boom!”

”Boom boom boom!!”

”Boom boom boom boom boom boom!!!”

At that moment, the entire interior of the sealed factory was engulfed in flames, reaching every part of the factory.

The machines that could still function under the red glow were completely enshrouded in fire, instantly rendered inoperative.

In such a dense series of explosions within a confined space, there was no chance for any living thing to survive.

...

”Oh my god...” Li Wenxi gasped as she looked at the metal factory in the distance, from which muffled booms emanated, stirring up half a meter of dust from the whole sandy area, ”Did an explosion happen in there?!”

”Hiss—” Zhao Xiaochuan inhaled sharply, ”I... pfft! Peh peh peh! Cough cough cough...”

The dust kicked up by the vibration was sucked into his mouth with that sharp inhale, and combined with his shock, it brought tears to his eyes as he coughed.

”If we hadn’t gotten out just now, we would’ve been blown to bits inside,” Xu Xin said in a deep voice.

The factory doors closed automatically, and the small UFOs produced by the factory’s machines rose up to self-destruct; this was probably the factory’s ”core,” the self-destruct mechanism activated when the crystal they had just acquired was taken away.

It seemed that their protection measures for the scarlet crystal were top-notch!

Keep in mind, before they arrived here, no humans could have come.

So what were these measures defending against?

Clearly, they were to guard against their own kind.

To prevent their own from trying to steal the crystal by any means.

So the moment they pried this crystal loose, even before they took it away, the explosion was triggered.

”Boom boom boom boom boom...”

Inside the factory, the muffled explosions hadn’t ceased, and the surrounding area was already raised with an enormous amount of dust, prompting the group to cover their noses and mouths.

”Eek...” Keke directly used her big tail to cover her face.

”Too ruthless...” Zhao Xiaochuan murmured with his nose and mouth covered, ”This is really wiping out indiscriminately!”

”And they’re rushing to wipe out their own kind,” Xu Ying also looked at the metal factory, which was still shaking, even starting to turn dark red from the high internal temperature, and said, ”No wonder the monster said its father guarded the scarlet crystal so tightly...”

The scarlet crystal, the Source of Life for the alien invaders, was entirely controlled by the leader of the alien invasion force, the monster’s father. Seeing one here made Xu Xin feel both lucky and puzzled.

Although this scarlet crystal indeed supplied the operation of the entire factory, it’s located over thirty kilometers from that purple-black light pillar, wouldn’t placing such a large scarlet crystal here risk theft?

This is the Source of Life after all.

It’s known that just a thumbnail-sized slice of this condensed scarlet crystal could meet an individual’s needs for a day; a walnut-sized crystal should satisfy an individual’s needs for several months, shouldn’t it?

The monster said many individuals were cut off from the supply of scarlet crystals for disobedience, which is actually one of the reasons for the internal conflict among the alien invader group. Wouldn’t those individuals come here to steal the crystal?

But now, the facts revealed to him the reason.

You simply can’t steal it.

Not only can’t you steal it, but it’s also a deadly trap.

First are the factory’s defense mechanisms.

When the scarlet crystal is exposed from below the metal cover, the surrounding machines and laser weapons activate, attacking the intruders.

If they manage to avoid the attacks like Xu Xin and his group did, they’d still face the next issue, which is that the scarlet crystal is extremely difficult to pry off the platform.

Embedded in the platform, the scarlet crystal couldn’t be removed with normal means.

Xu Xin and his group managed to acquire it because Li Wenxi happened to have the ability for this.

Of course, just as Li Wenxi could pry it off, it’s not certain that individuals among the alien invaders wouldn’t have this ability too.

Hence, there was the final safeguard.

As soon as the crystal is removed from the platform, the entire factory is destroyed in a violent explosion!

This explosion wouldn’t just kill the individual attempting to steal the scarlet crystal, but would also destroy all the machinery inside the factory, and... likely cause that scarlet crystal to be obliterated in the blast.

This is what they call mutual destruction.

Their leader would rather destroy this piece of scarlet crystal than let it fall into the hands of other individuals.

Otherwise, those individuals would break free from his control for a period, threatening his rule.

It’s also a two-for-one tactic, directly bombing the rebellious thieves of the crystal!

What a high-pressure strategy.

No wonder there are now problems and discontent among the alien invaders’ ranks.

To destroy, just to prevent other individuals from freely using it, is indeed too ruthless.

If they hadn’t been a step ahead, using Zhao Xiaochuan’s ability to dodge weapon scans, using Li Wenxi’s ability to pry it off, and then using Xu Ying’s ability to teleport out from the factory...

If even one step had gone wrong, they’d all have been done for inside there.

However...

”Are you guys interested in the other factories?”

Xu Xin looked around and further into the distance.

This wasn’t the only factory here.

The area was covered with these low factories, each spanning over ten thousand square meters.

If each of these factories had a scarlet crystal...

”You want to go again? Sure!” Li Wenxi said with a bit of excitement, ”As long as we do it like last time, pry it up and run, right?”
