Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1314 - 669: Crossing the Sea of Sand—Alien Base_3

”What is this place? Silver King, stop a little closer to it.”

”Awo!”

Silver King suddenly accelerated, closed in on the metal building, and stopped about two hundred meters away.

”Is this... the factory of the alien invaders?” Xu Xin murmured, then asked Xu Ying, ”Have you seen it before?”

”Never seen it.” Xu Ying shook her head. ”I’ve never been so close to their base. You know, people like us can’t wait to avoid them; who would go near such a place?”

That’s true.

”Should we go in and take a look?” Zhao Xiaochuan seemed eager. He had confidence in his abilities, believing he wouldn’t be discovered even if he walked in openly.

”Don’t invite trouble.” Xu Xin stopped him, ”But...”

He looked toward the direction of the purple-black light pillar.

Starting here, beyond was no longer the sea of sand.

Instead, what lay ahead were increasingly dense buildings.

Perhaps because stable foundations couldn’t be built in the desert, all the structures here were low-rise; Xu Xin couldn’t see any building above two stories tall as far as he could see.

”The area ahead is not easy to traverse. Soon, we might encounter the real alien invaders.” Xu Xin squinted and said.

”Alien invaders...” Zhao Xiaochuan swallowed his saliva.

”Zhao Xiaochuan, don’t get scared by the appearance of alien invaders and lose your abilities,” Xu Ying immediately expressed her concern to Zhao Xiaochuan.

”Ah? You’re joking, how could that be?” Zhao Xiaochuan waved his hand. ”What haven’t I seen before? Aren’t they just some monsters?”

”Ha, you didn’t even dare to lift your head just now.”

”That... that was because it was my first time riding a wolf, I couldn’t sit steadily!” Zhao Xiaochuan blushed and his neck stiffened.

”Alright, alright.” Xu Xin interrupted the two of them, helplessly saying, ”I can’t believe you two can argue even here. Next, focus all your attention.”

There’s still about thirty kilometers left; walking would be too slow, they still needed Silver King to ride.

For now, nothing suspicious had been found, so he decided not to release them yet, waiting until they got closer.

”Let’s go, Silver King, be careful.” Xu Xin said to Silver King, ”Move a bit slower.”

He feared moving too fast here would get them discovered.

”Awoo...” Silver King understood and instead of howling, gave a soft response and continued towards the purple-black light pillar.

”Keke.” Xu Xin pinched Keke’s tail, ”If anything happens, let me know immediately.”

”Ying!” Keke climbed onto Xu Xin’s shoulder and looked ahead.

The map in Xu Xin’s mind required the location to be reached before it could be formed, but now it was gradually improving.

This gave him a slight sense of security.

At least he could understand the situation of the surrounding buildings.

However...

There wasn’t a single red dot on the map.

Are there no alien invaders around here?

”These buildings...” Xu Ying slightly furrowed her brows.

”Do you know what these buildings are for?” Xu Xin asked.

”No, but... these metal buildings should be able to directly block electromagnetic waves.” Xu Ying looked at the increasingly dense and widely spread yet very low buildings.

Block electromagnetic waves?

”That means...” Xu Ying glanced at him, ”Your map ability likely can’t scan what’s inside these metal buildings. If you haven’t found the enemies’ location, that doesn’t mean there are no enemies around. It’s possible they’re all inside these low buildings.”

...Is this really the case?

His map ability relied on a biological chip in his mind, operating based on electromagnetic wave scanning.

No wonder even with the buildings so densely packed here, there was no dot visible on his map.

Are they all inside the buildings?

No...

It’s possible there really are none.

”This might be a military base, perhaps they’re no longer here now.” Xu Xin said.

”Should we go in and take a look?” Zhao Xiaochuan seemed eager again, ”If it really is a military base, maybe we could find some of their weapons and equipment inside?”
