Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1331 - 675: Duel of Missiles and Anti-Missile Systems (Part 2)

But because everyone’s missile launch actions have been ongoing during this period, there are still countless nuclear missiles shooting toward that area at fifty times the speed of sound!

The result was that the nuclear missiles, accurately aimed at the purple-black beam, exploded prematurely five or six kilometers from the Transmission Array, without harming it in the slightest.

Conversely, those missiles that deviated from their trajectory didn’t explode mid-air but rather exploded two to three kilometers away from the target point!

Even though their nuclear missiles aren’t very large in tonnage, they still have an impact range of two to three kilometers.

So, a sarcastic scene unfolded.

The missiles that directly hit the target didn’t damage the Transmission Array, yet those that deviated from their track caused some damage to it.

Although the damage wasn’t significant, at best, it caused the purple-black beam shooting skyward to waver slightly.

But at least there was success!

”The opponent’s anti-missile system!” Ma Hongwei immediately understood and was extremely surprised, ”This array should have been temporarily constructed, yet it has an anti-missile system!”

Their missiles, traveling at fifty times the speed of sound, reach their peak speed at about fifty kilometers, after which the speed gradually decreases.

By the time they reach the Transmission Array, both their accuracy drops significantly, with only about 30% able to directly hit such a large target, while their speed reduces to under ten times the speed of sound.

Though it’s still at hypersonic levels, for alien invaders, anything under ten times the speed of sound should be very easy to intercept.

”Because it was temporarily constructed, their anti-missile capabilities are limited,” Qi Xuefei observed the situation outside, ”They can only prematurely destroy and detonate the missiles directly hitting the array, while allowing those that cause minor damage to pass through.”

Ji Chaoyang nodded.

From the actual situation, it indeed seemed that way.

If the anti-missile system were strong, why let those deviation missiles that still cause some damage to the array pass?

”There’s a chance!” Ma Hongwei clapped his hands and suddenly stood up.

”You want to...” Ji Chaoyang looked at him.

”I’ll modify our missiles!”

Without further explanation, Ma Hongwei left straight away.

”Huh? What does he mean?” Qin Yunlong was quite puzzled, ”Modify the missiles? Didn’t he come down to join us because he couldn’t upgrade the weapons anymore?”

Ji Chaoyang seemed to be pondering.

He seemed to understand what Ma Hongwei meant.

The current missiles had sacrificed accuracy for speed; with some modifications, they could revert to their former state—slower but with longer range and higher precision.

Is it possible he wants to modify them back to normal missiles?

From the earlier situation, it seemed the opponent’s anti-missile capabilities were limited. Thus, as long as there were enough missiles attacking the Transmission Array, their anti-missile system would collapse!

Even at such a distance, the speed itself decreased, making high precision essential for disrupting the opponent’s anti-missile system!

Ji Chaoyang immediately contacted Ma Hongwei who had left and received confirmation from him.

”Exactly, I just need one hour!”

One hour within the World Tree is 36 seconds outside.

This time isn’t long!

The plan is feasible!

”Continue attacking!”

Ji Chaoyang ordered.

Since it can have some effect now, even if minimal, they must keep attacking!

What they have in abundance are nuclear missiles!

With such a large stockpile on hand, if compromised, they’d lose everything, so it’s better to launch them all now.

Thus, he now ordered that they’d use quantity in exchange for minimal effects without any reservations.

According to his prediction, by tomorrow, these weapons will either be used or all written off.

The previous scenes unfolded again.

The light pillar from the Transmission Array began to tremble slightly, its bending motion didn’t stop but visibly slowed down quite a bit.

”It’s effective, keep going!”

”Brothers and sisters, keep firing!”

”Damn! My shot was too accurate! It got blocked!”

”Hahaha, my shot missed! Did 5 points of damage to the Transmission Array!”

”Damn it, I deliberately aimed off, but it corrected itself due to the error and got intercepted!”

The scene turned somewhat comical for a moment.

Everyone wanted their launched missiles to damage the Transmission Array, so they ended up competing on who could miss the target better!

And this went on for about fifty minutes.

Ma Hongwei returned.

The missiles he modified had already started mass production and were continuously supplying ammunition to the World Tree’s external weapons.

”We can proceed with the second round of attacks!”

Suddenly, countless missiles with reduced speed but longer range flew towards the Transmission Array!

The first batch was intercepted.

The second batch let a few through, exploding within the core area of the Transmission Array!

The third batch was unstoppable!

Beneath the purple-black beam, the white light from the nuclear missile explosions, along with the rising mushroom clouds, filled the area!

The purple-black beam began to fluctuate violently!

”We did it!”

”Keep attacking!” Ji Chaoyang shouted.

However, the opposite side responded very fast.

As the Transmission Array took serious hits, those swarming flying crafts charged towards the World Tree once more!

They came aggressively, densely packed, like a giant net flying in the air, blocking the way to the Transmission Array!

Most missiles couldn’t pass through this dense net, exploding within the aircraft swarm!

Every explosion punched a hole through the net formed by the aircraft, but this hole was quickly filled again.

The number of missiles that slipped through this net wasn’t large, and the anti-theft system alone could handle them.

The array didn’t suffer further damage, and the purple-black beam stabilized.

”Damn, are they crazy?! The people controlling those aircraft aren’t afraid of dying? Blocking nuclear missiles with lives?”

”Aren’t those drones?”

”Huh? Are...are they?! We’ve been fighting drones all this time?”

”Damn, how do we attack this? There are way too many of these aircraft! No matter how many we destroy, they keep coming!”

Ji Chaoyang and the others frowned.

They couldn’t think of a better solution.

The other side actually used aircraft as a frontline blockade, truly showing their financial and resource strength.

”Keep attacking, don’t stop!” Ji Chaoyang ordered, ”Attack with full force; whatever delay we can cause, is beneficial!”

...

Outside time, nearly an hour had passed.

”The light pillar of the Transmission Array has connected!” Qin Yunlong said in a low voice.

Everyone within the World Tree had exerted their utmost effort but had still failed to stop the connection of the light pillar.

However, it wasn’t completely unsuccessful.

At least they managed to delay the fusion of the light pillar by more than half an hour.

If not for their relentless assault, the Transmission Array may have been connected long ago.

At this moment, Ji Chaoyang, Qi Xuefei, the Qin Yunlong brothers, and Ma Hongwei had all been persisting at the control panel for a long time.

The light pillar took an hour to fuse; within the World Tree, they had remained tense and commanding for a full four days.

”The Transmission Array still connected.” Qi Xuefei looked at Ji Chaoyang, ”Were your predictions wrong?”

”...perhaps when I made the prediction, this transmission channel was already closed.” Ji Chaoyang gazed at the purple-black bridge.

”In any case, let’s see what comes out of such an expansive Transmission Array...what the hell is this?!”

Ma Hongwei suddenly cursed, eyes wide.

Ever since experiencing life and death, his character had stabilized, and he rarely cursed.

But this time, he was truly shocked!

In an instant, part of two giant ships suddenly protruded from the purple-black light beam.

This wasn’t the main shocker; seeing giant ships wouldn’t cause such surprise.

What shocked Ma Hongwei was that from the front section of the ships...

Countless jet-black tentacle-like things extended from the windows, binding the entire front of the vessel!

”What...is that?”

Ji Chaoyang’s pupils constricted sharply.

Jet-black tentacles...? Aliens have personally arrived!

But...why are those tentacles so huge?

They can actually wrap around the ship’s bow...

How big are the aliens inside this giant ship?!
