Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1334 - 676: Master of the Pitch-Black Tentacles_3

The creatures that used to die quickly after infection can now survive for a few hours under her control.

Of course, if the antidote is not used, even under Wen Guixin’s control, the infected creatures will still run out of energy within a few hours. But if the antidote is used, the infected creatures, after detoxification, will suffer severe physical damage and cannot withstand a second infection in a short time.

Therefore, if they are to control the ”gatekeeper” to enter the World Tree, there will be time limitations.

The mission inside the World Tree must be completed before Wen Guixin’s controlled gatekeeper dies, and then they must come out from the World Tree.

But this isn’t too big a problem for Xu Xin and the others, after all, they have Xu Ying’s transmission ability. The inside of the World Tree isn’t independent from space-time, and Xu Ying can take everyone directly out.

Yet Xu Ying’s ability is currently unstable. The World Tree has various abilities and restrictions, it’s unknown what situations might arise, so everyone has agreed upon a time limit of two hours.

If all else fails, they can still rely on Xu Ying’s ability later.

The group approached the metal house.

”Whimper... whimper, whimper?”

At this moment, Keke, who had been very obedient in Xu Xin’s arms, began to move.

It squirmed twice in Xu Xin’s arms, struggling to jump out.

”Don’t move.” Xu Xin reprimanded softly, ”Don’t leave my cloak while we’re here!”

Previously in the factory, even when Keke left, it didn’t trigger any mechanical reactions, indicating that this little creature might not attract attention from the other side.

But this is the central area. Even though Keke is unlikely to be discovered, it absolutely can’t be allowed to roam freely here.

Everything needs to be approached cautiously, especially considering this little one’s love for running around.

”Whimper...” Keke’s originally wagging big tail drooped down, and its little head buried itself.

”If you want to go somewhere, tell me, and I’ll take you later,” Xu Xin whispered.

”Whimper!” Keke’s little ears perked up, lifted its head, extended its little paw, and pointed in another direction.

That direction is...

Another World Tree?

”Keke wants us to go to that World Tree?” Li Wenxi whispered.

”Whimper!” Keke nodded its little head.

”Our target is this World Tree.” Xu Xin pointed at the World Tree within reach.

”Whimper! Whimper, whimper!” Keke’s little paw continued to point at the other one.

Xu Xin frowned slightly.

Did they go to the wrong World Tree?

”Is the Scarlet Crystal in the World Tree you’re pointing at?” Xu Xin asked.

”Whimper? Whimper...” Keke shook its little head, ”Whimper, whimper!”

Its little paw gestured around.

In that World Tree, there seems to be something good, and Keke hopes he takes it.

”Let’s finish the current task first.” Xu Xin rubbed Keke’s head.

”Whimper...” Keke’s ears slightly drooped and then burrowed back into Xu Xin’s embrace.

Although Xu Xin trusted Keke a lot, and what the little one wants him to take is certainly good. But for now, their target is the Scarlet Crystal.

No deviations are allowed.

”We’ll continue...”

”Wait a moment, don’t get any closer!” Li Wenxi suddenly blocked Xu Xin with her hand, speaking softly.

She gazed at the ground, her eye corners trembling slightly, whispered, ”Underneath here, there are many metal objects buried that seem like gravity sensors.”

Gravity-sensing metal objects?

”Landmines?” Zeng Tao murmured, ”They even buried landmines here?”

”I don’t know, but they should be traps,” Li Wenxi whispered, pointing at the ground in front, ”All around this room, these things are buried.”

She then looked at Qin Fu: ”You noticed too, didn’t you?”

”No,” Qin Fu shook his head, ”In the vicinity of the World Tree, my abilities fail, and I’m unable to observe the surroundings through nearby plants.”

Metal traps?

Xu Xin felt they weren’t landmines.

The function of the gatekeeper is to lead people into the World Tree. How could there be traps set around its own room?

But if it’s a gravity-sensing device...

Could it be that if someone steps on it, it would directly alert the ”gatekeeper” inside?

Regardless, Xu Xin and the others cannot step on these metal devices.

”Let me lead the way then,” Li Wenxi spoke nervously, ”Follow me. Step where I step.”

”Sister-in-law, maybe I can teleport you inside?” Xu Ying whispered.

It’s only a few hundred meters away. Even though it isn’t a place she’s been before, her teleportation shouldn’t pose a problem.

”No, the inside is full of these devices. A bunch of us going in together will definitely step on them,” Li Wenxi whispered, ”Besides, given your current state, it’s best not to use your teleportation ability.”

Xu Ying could only nod: ”Alright then...”

The group followed Li Wenxi, weaving left and right, gradually approaching the metal room with the gatekeeper.

Fortunately, everyone moved swiftly without any accidents, and they quickly reached the door.

The door was ajar, leaving a gap.

Xu Xin glanced through the gap, seeing only a piece of black sludge sprawled on an apparatus resembling a bed.

This sludge was covered in eyes, all of which were closed.

”Is it sleeping?”

Xu Xin looked at the mass of sludge.

The sludge seemed to sense something, its body slightly quivering, the eyes slowly opening for two seconds, then closing again.

Xu Xin breathed a sigh of relief, pointed inside, and nodded to the group.
