Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1309 - 668: Boundless Sea of Sand

The environment where the World Tree is located is a world apart from where Xu Xin and the others are.

”The road ahead requires us to proceed on our own.”

Under the World Tree near the alien invaders’ headquarters, Xu Xin and his group gathered together.

”The environment here... although expected, it’s...” Li Wenxi looked around, ”it’s extremely harsh.”

Around the World Tree, as far as the eye can see, there is an endless sea of desolate sand.

The scorching sunlight directly hits this sea of sand, making it unbearable just to look at.

From afar, a gust of wind sweeps up the yellow sand into the air, resembling a vast yellow miasma that weakens the legs.

Thinking about having to traverse this sea of sand, everybody wiped the sweat off their foreheads.

”Jin Yue and I are familiar with this place; we’ve walked through the desert for several hours before,” Lou Fei’Er glanced at the vast sand sea, then patted Jin Yue’s arm, ”right?”

Jin Yue nodded, ”We almost couldn’t make it back; the desert conditions were extremely harsh, so be careful. We didn’t encounter any sandstorms back then, but here...”

The crowd looked into the distance.

The yellow miasma in the distance looks terrifying.

The desert environment is intensely harsh for humans.

But for the alien invaders who detest water, it’s probably as comfortable as a fish in water.

This is the alien invaders’ home turf; they must tread carefully.

”We’re only three hundred kilometers away from the alien invaders’ headquarters. Our movements must be very covert,” Xu Xin said.

At such a close distance, they are likely under full surveillance by the alien invaders; one small mistake could get them discovered.

”It’s a pity, if we could continue moving underground, it would be better,” Wang Lei shrugged.

The alien invaders’ headquarters is a city centered around three World Trees.

And those three World Trees are naturally connected underground as well.

Logically speaking, their underground and above ground should be linked.

But they can’t travel underground.

Due to the underground’s ruggedness, traveling that way would require using flying devices or riding Winged Dragon Huihui, otherwise, progress would be impossible.

But doing so would undoubtedly get them discovered.

Moreover, the underground terrain is complex, and they’re unfamiliar with it, so they might get captured before finding their way.

However, above ground is different.

”Doesn’t it seem better to go above ground?” Wen Guixin looked towards the east of the World Tree, ”The target is clear, and we can move directly without wasting much time on the road.”

The World Tree they’re currently near is close to the west coast, and to the east of this World Tree, in the inland direction of the continent, there’s a purple-black light pillar soaring into the sky.

Indeed, it resembles the purple-black light pillar of the survivalists’ Transmission Array.

But the thickness of this light pillar far surpasses any Xu Xin has seen before.

This pillar shoots straight into space.

This light pillar had been explained to them by a monster earlier in their wristbands.

This is the space transmission device used by the alien invaders to send ”glowing white crystals” from Earth to their home planet.

Through this transmission device, Earth’s glowing white crystals will pass through multiple spatial leaps, eventually reaching the home planet via a complete planetary transmission chain.

Fortunately, due to the enormous cost of this transmission chain, the alien invaders’ home planet hasn’t established a two-way link, so the transmission is one-way: only from Earth to their home planet, not vice versa.

This is actually a key aspect of Xu Xin and his team’s plan.

Their goal is to destroy the alien invaders’ ”Source of Life” on Earth.

Once the Source of Life is destroyed, and the home planet can’t send resources to Earth, without the Source of Life, they would have to return to their home planet if they don’t want to perish.

”So shall we proceed as we discussed?” Zhao Xiaochuan glanced at the desert, ”Ugh... Do I really have to cross this desert...”

The final three hundred kilometers had been well thought out by Xu Xin and his team.

For the last three hundred kilometers, they decided to adopt the most primitive method.

Riding.

And they can’t ride the conspicuously large Winged Dragon Huihui, instead...

”Silver King, it’s all up to you,” Xu Xin petted Silver King’s head beside him.

During this time, Silver King had always lived in the World Tree, finding it more comfortable than before.

However, it hasn’t grown complacent, remaining strong and majestic as ever.

”Roar—!” Silver King let out a sound.

Having not engaged in long-distance activities for so long, it was eager to set out.

”Hasn’t Silver King grown a lot larger than before?” Wen Guixin reached out to touch Silver King’s head excitedly, ”Oh! This is my first time touching it!”

Silver King had already spent several months in the World Tree and was constantly influenced, causing its size to grow significantly larger than before.

When standing upright, its height is almost over two meters!

Calling it a small giant beast wouldn’t be an exaggeration.

”How about Sister Gui Xin, you replace me and ride?” Zhao Xiaochuan looked at the distant sandstorm again, seeming resigned.

”I would love to, but there’s no way,” Wen Guixin shrugged, ”The only one who can complete this task is you.”
