Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 992: Chapter 558: Memory Replay (2)

Will the strongest survivor be scared to the point of their legs going weak and kneeling?

”Oh? How do you test it then?”

Xu Xin was also quite interested.

If she could let him directly see the situation at that time, then why bother telling the story? Just show him directly.

If you can watch it directly, who would still want to listen to someone telling a story?

”This... I’m not quite sure either.” Shi Wanyun said softly, tucking her hair to both sides and pointing to her smooth forehead, ”All my memories are here, maybe you could try touching it?”

Xu Xin didn’t say much and immediately reached out, placing his hand on her forehead.

Shi Wanyun raised her hands, grabbed Xu Xin’s wrist, and held it firmly in place.

Time passed by the second, and Shi Wanyun suddenly spoke: ”How is it, did you see anything?”

”...Hmm? Did you do something?” Xu Xin was a bit puzzled, ”I didn’t see anything.”

”Is that so...” Shi Wanyun frowned slightly.

”Is it not working?” Xu Xin attempted to withdraw his hand, but she still held on.

”No, wait a moment, I have a feeling it should be... achievable. Just hold on.” She asked him to wait twice, then closed her eyes again in search of how to transmit the memory.

”Can it really work?” Xu Xin began to anticipate.

About two minutes later, Shi Wanyun suddenly opened her eyes and removed Xu Xin’s hand from her forehead.

”So it didn’t work after all?”

”No.” Shi Wanyun suddenly leaned in, bringing their faces within ten centimeters of each other.

Xu Xin could even clearly see her thick eyelashes.

However, he understood what Shi Wanyun intended to do, so he didn’t move away, allowing her to press her forehead against his.

Instantly, a wave of coolness surged through.

Shi Wanyun closed her eyes and whispered, ”Close your eyes, feel it carefully. It should work.”

Xu Xin could feel his mind becoming unusually excited.

He chose to trust his instincts and closed his eyes.

And the moment he closed his eyes, the world did not go dark as expected, but instead, he saw a completely different scene as if his eyes were still open.

He saw the elegantly dressed Shi Wanyun walking behind an equally elegantly dressed mature woman.

”Can you see it?” Shi Wanyun’s voice rang out.

He instinctively opened his eyes, and instantly everything he saw vanished. Shi Wanyun’s forehead was still pressed against his, but she had opened her eyes, watching Xu Xin.

”...I can actually see it.” Xu Xin was a bit excited.

He had just casually mentioned it, not expecting it to actually happen!

”Is it really possible?” Shi Wanyun also showed a look of surprise.

”But if I open my eyes, I can’t see it.” Xu Xin closed his eyes again, and the previous scene reappeared.

Shi Wanyun and the mature woman walked through a wide wooden corridor and then stopped in front of a door.

The woman opened the door.

”...An elevator?”

”A lift powered by the biological energy of the World Tree. The master’s location is not in the lower region, but at the very top of this World Tree.”

The conversation between Shi Wanyun and the woman reached Xu Xin’s ears.

This was...

The situation Shi Wanyun had just described when taking the lift!

”Do you need to close your eyes to see it?” Shi Wanyun, still touching Xu Xin’s forehead, looked at him, who was surprised even with his eyes closed, and chuckled, ”I don’t need to close my eyes.”

”Your ability makes it more convenient for you. Hmm... you mentioned this part, fast forward a bit.” Xu Xin urged with his eyes closed.

The conversation in the lift was exactly what Shi Wanyun had described earlier, word for word.

”Alright.”

Soon, the scene Xu Xin saw started fast-forwarding quickly, the lift door opened, and the two walked out.

He instantly saw the blue-black, eye-bearing seat Shi Wanyun had mentioned.

The seat seemed to be carved, and it wasn’t smooth. There were carvings of strange beasts everywhere — resembling a lion, a tiger, an eagle, or a dragon — on the backrest, armrests, seat, even the legs of the chair, all had bulging carvings.

Sitting on such a chair would be a form of torture...

And most notably, of course, were the two eyes on the armrests that Shi Wanyun had mentioned.

At this moment, those two eyes swirled and focused on Shi Wanyun.

Instantly, Shi Wanyun trembled and swiftly moved her gaze away.

Yet Xu Xin didn’t feel anything, nor was there anything to be afraid of.

Perhaps because he was in a third-person perspective, and the eyes didn’t look in his direction.

However, Shi Wanyun, who kept her forehead against his, did tremble slightly.

Was she scared again?

Soon, the mature woman left.

Here it comes.

Xu Xin’s heartbeat began to quicken.

His gaze was fixed on the chair.

Suddenly, a purple-black mist appeared in the chair, and then...

An indescribable creature suddenly appeared on the chair!

Xu Xin’s heart skipped a beat for a second, and he inhaled sharply.

”Holy crap!”

It had been a long time since he swore.

What kind of freak was this?!

Dozens of blinking, rolling eyes almost triggered his trypophobia in an instant!

They were even blinking!

Immediately followed by an overwhelming sense of physical discomfort!

Two legs... two arms...

This...

A human?!

Wait...?

A pitch-black... human body full of eyes?!

No, that’s not right...

The arms appeared longer than the legs?

The upper half of the face was covered entirely with tightly packed, blinking eyes, and the mouth seemed to split open, taking up the lower half of the face.

Xu Xin didn’t know what this thing was, but it indeed made him feel extreme discomfort on a physiological level.

Especially with the humanoid body — it directly triggered his innate human fear!

What kind of freak is this?!

Suddenly, the eyes that initially looked in all directions started focusing, one by one, like adjusting focus, they looked at Shi Wanyun.

At this moment, Xu Xin felt a slight sense of relief, relieved that this creature wasn’t looking in his direction.

And then, the scene in his eyes abruptly cut off.

He was suddenly hugged.

”No... this won’t work...”

Shi Wanyun was trembling, once again caught in fear.

”Let... let me get used... to it first...”

Her face was as pale as paper.

Xu Xin lightly touched her forehead; it was terrifyingly cold.

He sighed.

The monster just now was indeed somewhat frightening.

A bit humanoid, with human elements, yet in every aspect, bizarrely different from humans.

It looked incredibly eerie!

But for him, it wasn’t so terrifying.

Was it because of its gaze again?

Or was it for some other reason?

Xu Xin gently comforted Shi Wanyun, and soon she was calmed down.

”...I’m sorry. I... I’m so useless.” Shi Wanyun felt a bit guilty.

”Let’s talk about something else first.”

Xu Xin wasn’t in a hurry to continue watching, as he also wanted to pause for a bit.

”Tell me about that World Tree. You should remember its structure, right?”

”Yes.” Shi Wanyun said softly, ”I’ve walked around in that giant tree, and its structure is fully in my brain. Whenever I want, I can recall it immediately.”

Xu Xin’s mind stirred: ”So, if one day we are inside that tree...”

”I can serve as your guide, your map.” Shi Wanyun nodded gently, ”But I don’t recommend you going there because currently, you’d be just like me.”

”You don’t recommend us going?” Xu Xin caught something from her words, temporarily forgetting the previous impact, and immediately grabbed her arm, ”Do you mean we can actually go? You... you can send us over?”

The Teleportation Array Pattern she drew in the treehouse had left a very deep impression on Xu Xin.

She possesses teleportation abilities!

Although she had taken a genetic injection, the genetic injection wouldn’t affect her existing abilities. So, she should still have that ability!

Shi Wanyun hesitated for a moment before finally choosing not to lie anymore.

”That’s right, I can send you over.”
