Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 974: Chapter 552: Survivors from 30 Years Ago (Part 2)

So, when number 228 was helping to take off her armor, she didn’t pay much attention, just thinking that the clothes were dirty and torn, and she needed to change quickly, she couldn’t let her wear such torn clothes for the baptism.

But...

Didn’t they see that special...

”So, where are my things now...”

”When I went there earlier, they were still with number 228,” the woman said, ”they were filthy, covered in blood and dust, so I didn’t bring them, I asked her to handle them, maybe she has already disposed of them.”

”What do you mean by ’handle’...”

”Metal armor is melted down and recycled, leather items are directly destroyed, the one thing we don’t lack is animal hides.”

This...

Shi Wanyun’s heart twinged a little.

That was a Purple-grade armor she had never seen before, something she had begged for with dignity lowered, and she would have to return it, was it just disposed of like that?

And the special functions of the Concealer’s Cloak inside...

Really not discovered?

”Why, is there something special about those pieces of equipment? Ah, I know.” The woman smiled slightly, ”Is it your first set of Purple-grade armor made with all your resources? It does indeed hold some commemorative value, you can ask number 228 later, maybe she hasn’t handled it yet.”

”Is the cloak I wore still there...” Shi Wanyun hesitated for a moment, asking, ”Can I ask if the cloak is still there?”

”That cloak with several holes? It’s already damaged, just a Green-grade cloak, is it very important?” the woman asked.

Green-grade?

Shi Wanyun was stirred.

Because the damage was so severe, it lost its original abilities, and its grade dropped to Green?

It seems like they didn’t see the function of the Concealer’s Cloak.

”Those equipment pieces were borrowed from the strongest survivor among us,” Shi Wanyun gently explained, ”I still have to return them to him, so...”

”Is that so, ah, could it be that...” The woman smiled, ”The strongest person who helped you so much... is a man?”

”...Not what you think.” Shi Wanyun knew what the woman wanted to imply and softly denied it.

”I didn’t say anything,” the woman teased slightly.

...Anyone could catch her drift.

”So, the cloak, even if just a Green-grade thing, because it was the first equipment the person gave you, you always wear it, is that it?” the woman speculated.

The woman helped her find a good excuse.

She didn’t plan on telling this woman about the Concealer’s Cloak’s functions.

Although she wanted to trust this woman, one should always be cautious.

The special healing medicine she got from Xu Xin, Qi Xuefei the explorer sold it on the world channel before, it’s not a secret.

They also showcased the Purple-grade armor on the trading platform, not a secret either.

These are things she could reveal without issue because Xu Xin and the explorers didn’t intend to keep these quiet.

But she couldn’t casually disclose the role of the Concealer’s Cloak.

Before Xu Xin took this out to help her, they absolutely had not showcased this equipment, it should be Xu Xin’s side’s secret gear.

Xu Xin saved her life, he’s her benefactor, she couldn’t tell anyone about this matter.

Not even to previous generations of survivors, not even to the seemingly trustworthy woman in front of her.

This is what she just thought, telling half the truth.

She didn’t lie, just concealed some things.

Not offending either side, it’s the best choice.

”...No,” Shi Wanyun slightly tilted her head, speaking softly, ”It’s just that the thing he gave to me, I must return it to him, even if it’s just a Green-grade equipment.”

However, her current appearance seemed, in the woman’s eyes, like a cute girl holding her ground even after being exposed.

The woman looked at her with a softer gaze, truly seeing a reflection of herself from fifty years ago in Shi Wanyun: ”Since that’s the case, I’ve understood your situation pretty well, you should go back first, for now, you can stay in the room where you woke up. I’ll have number 228 to come find you, to help you get familiar with this place.”

”Hmm...?” Shi Wanyun was a little surprised, ”I don’t have to do anything now?”

”Not for the moment, you just went through the baptism today, we won’t have you do anything else, just rest well for now, you won’t be so free tomorrow.” The woman said, her eyes suddenly flashing with a red light.

”Can you tell me what I have to do tomorrow?” Shi Wanyun was still quite puzzled.

”That depends on the owner’s decision, the tasks for the new batch of survivors are not assigned by me, but by the owner, tomorrow I’ll take you to meet him.”

The owner...

”I have some matters to attend to, so I won’t accompany you any longer, you’d better go back and rest, you can also choose to rest in this room, but this is a prison, it wouldn’t be very comfortable.”

With that, she immediately turned and walked out of the room without giving Shi Wanyun another chance to speak.

The door wasn’t closed, left slightly ajar.

Shi Wanyun walked to the doorway and looked out.

Another corridor.

Unlike the previous one, this corridor wasn’t made of wood but was a purely metal corridor, the cold gleam of the metal making it look icy.

On either side of the corridor were tightly shut metal doors, evidently, another row of prisons.
