Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 953: Chapter 545: Do You Know How Terrifying They Are?_2

”Besides, they can also issue commands through the black box to control that special mutated creature connected in the treehouse,” Shi Wanyun continued. ”The upper limit for controlling mutated creatures with the black box is just one.”

”Only that one?” Xu Xin muttered to himself. ”So that means the mutated creature is...”

”Hmm, each special mutated creature is the leader of a group of mutated creatures.”

Shi Wanyun nodded.

”Mutated creature groups rely on this mutated creature to enable group combat, while the survivors in the outer zone indirectly control the beast horde by controlling this leader.”

”...Is it really like that?” Xu Xin realized, but he also felt a bit disappointed.

Earlier, he thought if those alien invaders sent survivors from other regions here, it would actually be helping him out, allowing him to keep those survivors to strengthen the human faction here.

After all, there is strength in numbers.

But now it seems that this goal cannot be achieved.

”As for how this group of mutated creatures was teleported here, I only know it’s the handiwork of those monsters. As for how they did it, I do not know. I only know that I myself am the positioning coordinate for the teleport’s endpoint.”

The monsters she referred to should be those alien invaders, right?

It seems she has seen the true face of those alien invaders, hasn’t she?

She gave Xu Xin a glance, slightly opened her mouth as if hesitating about something, and finally spoke: ”Moreover... in the original plan of this world tree siege, the teleport destination for those mutated creatures was actually my location.”

”Your location...” Xu Xin was slightly stunned, then his expression slightly changed, ”You mean, the center of Crystal City?”

When the mutated creatures attacked, Shi Wanyun was in his treehouse, which was close to the Crystal Palace at the center of Crystal City; it was also the center of the entire Crystal City.

”...That’s right.” Shi Wanyun nodded lightly.

She looked out the window: ”But... the fact is, the exits of those teleportation portals did not appear around me, but appeared several kilometers outside of Crystal City.”

”All the teleport endpoints just happened to avoid the entire area of Crystal City, causing the teleported mutated creatures to surround Crystal City in a way we didn’t initially intend. The original plan was to surround the world tree directly with those mutated creatures.”

Xu Xin understood.

After all, this event was supposed to be a world tree siege battle, not a Crystal City siege battle.

Setting the teleport endpoint outside Crystal City would be less effective than setting it inside, but clearly, they couldn’t achieve that.

It seems Crystal City has once again proven its worth. Without it, the world tree could have been directly surrounded by the beast horde, which would have been distressing.

”At that moment, I understood that the power of this Crystal City far exceeded my imagination. Perhaps the powers of those monsters couldn’t affect the interior of Crystal City at all; this Crystal City might be the true safe haven.”

It appears the power of Crystal City has also surpassed Xu Xin’s imagination.

And this is one of the crucial reasons why Shi Wanyun ultimately chose Xu Xin’s side; she truly saw hope here.

This hope is worth exchanging for her and other survivors from different regions’ lives.

”One more thing, today’s event was really just a test by other region survivors regarding the [black box],” Shi Wanyun explained.

”And for some reason, after the beast tide receded, I received news saying the event is paused for one day tomorrow without any rationale, just allowing outer area survivors to practice control, and to start again the day after tomorrow.”

”So, I just said, perhaps you won’t be in danger tomorrow.”

”But now I’m no longer receiving messages, I don’t know if anything has changed, so I can’t guarantee that you will truly be safe tomorrow.”

This statement was really easy-going, directly shirking off her own responsibility.

However, are we only in danger the day after tomorrow...?

When chatting with Ji Chaoyang earlier, he did indeed predict that tomorrow would be very calm.

”That’s all I know about this event. Do you have anything else you want to ask me?” Shi Wanyun asked softly.

”I do, I do!” Zeng Tao, who had been listening with confusion, raised their small hand, ”Can you still provide positioning for them now?”

”No longer.” Shi Wanyun shook her head. ”I have completely regained control of my body.”

”So doesn’t that mean those mutated creatures won’t be able to teleport over, then?” Zeng Tao clapped her hands, ”Is that why they took a day off, because they can’t get over?”

”...” Shi Wanyun’s lips slightly parted, unsure what to say.

Xu Xin glanced at Zeng Tao with some helplessness.

Why does this little girl’s thought process always seem a step behind...?

Shi Wanyun explained helplessly, ”First of all, when that mysterious voice announced a one-day event pause, it was when the beast tide receded. At that time, I hadn’t injected the agent yet, I was still one of them, and could still serve as a coordinate point.”

”Secondly, since a position has been set once, there should be no need to set it a second time. Even if needed, there are now mutated creatures all around Crystal City; it doesn’t have to be me.”
