Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 963: Chapter 548: Genetic Modification? (Part 3)

Shi Wanyun’s gaze swept over these people.

Sure enough, although they looked very strong and formidable, as No. 228 passed by, they all humbly lowered their heads, adopting a low posture.

Clearly, their status was far lower than No. 228 who was leading the way for her, significantly inferior to those girls just now.

”Will I mutate too?”

”Hmm, everyone who comes here has the qualifications to participate in the mutation plan. We are all here to participate in the plan, to contribute our part,” explained No. 228.

”Being able to come here to contribute to the mutation plan is an honor for you.”

Shi Wanyun frowned slightly. That was unpleasant to hear; she didn’t want to contribute to any mutation plan.

”But for now, you’re just going for a baptism. The mutation process won’t be rushed like that.”

No. 228 stretched her neck, as if flaunting her proud neck: ”Generally speaking, newcomers need at least about a week of observation period. If there are no issues, they can qualify for mutation.”

”Of course, obtaining mutation qualification is just the first step. There are key points to note during the mutation process, but the most important thing is to persist, otherwise you’ll become entities like them, neither beast nor human.”

No. 228 tirelessly introduced the mutation process.

As if a college student, explaining the process and key points of exams to someone about to attend them.

In her words, there was a sense of pride from having attended exams and being enrolled in college, while ridiculing those who failed, simultaneously emphasizing the importance of the exams.

But she didn’t know that the woman in front of her, Shi Wanyun, had no desire for mutation, wanting only to escape as far as possible!

However, at this moment, Shi Wanyun did breathe a slight sigh of relief.

Hearing her say that, this so-called baptism wasn’t a mutation.

That’s just great, she certainly didn’t want to directly become a monster.

Having passed this route and seen many people living here with indistinguishable human-animal appearances, she suddenly felt that cases like No. 228 were indeed somewhat better...

She certainly didn’t want to sprout a dog’s head!

However, there were some who looked relatively normal among these people.

For example, the girl in front of her now.

With cat ears on her head, hands and feet transformed into cat paws, tail sprouting out, gray fur at the collar, eyes becoming blood-red, vertical pupils, which didn’t give a very stark sense of incongruity.

Cat girl?

Shi Wanyun was somewhat surprised.

If this form were placed in her original world, it might be super popular...

Come to think of it, these humans seem to have no blood patterns, but various traits indeed show they underwent blood pattern mutation.

Such as the cat girl’s blood-red pupils, a characteristic definitely acquired post-blood pattern mutation.

The cat girl respectfully bowed when she saw No. 228 passing by, while No. 228 ignored her and walked straight ahead.

”This type of mutation may be more popular among men,” No. 228 said to Shi Wanyun with a smile, ”However, currently male-female interaction is forbidden, rendering her appearance useless, merely a failed mutation existence.”

Shi Wanyun was silent for a moment, then asked: ”Did you just say that if a problem arises during the week-long observation period, there won’t be a chance for mutation?”

When she awoke, she realized her activity had been completed, freeing her from activity time constraints, fearing she might overstay.

But this also meant she might have to stay here for a while before finding a way to leave, returning to her tree house.

She certainly didn’t intend to become a monster, and if she couldn’t find her way back, it was best to ensure no mutation occurred!

”Yes, if issues arise during the observation period, naturally there’s no qualifying for mutation, and they’ll be directly expelled from here,” No. 228 nodded.

”Just expelled from here?” Shi Wanyun had a thought.

”Just?” No. 228 gestured outside: ”You are very aware of what’s outside. What expulsion entails needn’t be elaborated, right?”

...Oh, those encountering problems during the observation period will be sent outside to feed high-level mutated creatures, huh.

This isn’t too bad.

But she’d better find a way to return to her tree house here.

”Alright, we’re here.”

At this moment, No. 228 stopped, in front of them was...an elevator door.

”Now, from entering the lift, do not speak again, remain silent, just follow me, understand?”

Shi Wanyun nodded, tension heightened.

She was about to see what kind of place this truly was.

And just who was the master she mentioned.
